  1. I see this book regularly and completely forgot about it
  2. 1 of only 5 on the census…I’m positive it’s someone’s grail
  3. 1 of top 2 graded and so sought after, most collectors just gave up on it
  4. Definitely some shenanigans there. Does have a best offer now so obviously looking to get over 3k but those fees are killing him which is probably why he didn’t have a reserve on it
  5. Not slabbing might just be a preference but would probably get more interest with verified authenticity and unrestored. A slabbed 7.5 sold for best offer asking 10k. This one looks as good but the closest raw went just under 6k in May. If the timing is right, probably 8k+ but it should go for at least 6.5k if enough serious bidders get involved. His starting price may have already scared some people away but this book isn’t for everyone, especially if they know of the counterfeits but not sure what to look for. We’ll see.
  6. Another raw copy of Cerebus 1 popped up from a Canadian seller on eBay. Starting bid of 2,999 CA much nicer copy than the one I sold. Interested to see the winning bid
  7. No Funny thing; there was a graded 7.0 in the board marketplace that I claimed a couple of years ago and the seller never acknowledged the since then it’s never been a priority pickup but when I do check the eBay listings, I never find one to my liking
  8. One that’s always on my watchlist but even lower grades are way overpriced and most raws are over graded. Nothing uglier than a ton of color breaks on Wildcat’s chest and the deep reds by the logo to make me move on
  9. I was a maintenance mechanic at a UPS in nyc back in the mid 90s and I can’t tell you the amount of damaged items I found stuck between conveyor belts and even under the tires of delivery trucks. Multiply that 10x for the holiday season
  10. If they all came from the same bundle, it could be a result of distribution/handling. It would more likely be found to be a manufacturing flaw if multiple copies from different regions exhibit the flaw as opposed to buying multiple copies from the same source who’s inventory was packaged together and they were all subject to receiving the same damage
  11. Surprised no one brought up the “Conan Prototype”
  12. If you do your due diligence and have a handle on the fmv of most hot books it’s not too hard. The basic formula of “buy low, sell high” can net you a pretty decent income from month to month but don’t expect things to fall into your lap.
  13. Are we only talking universal grades because I recall seeing green labels as high as 9.0 with a detached cover. I believe it was a DD 158 from about a year ago
  14. This all reminds me of a debate that went on in a fb group about one of cgc’ s competitors being notorious for missing page counts, cut outs and other internal flaws in grading that were immediately detected when submitted to cgc either removed from the competitor’s slab or not. As none of the sellers were responsible for the grades originally given before resubmitting to cgc, responsibility should fall to the original grading company for the errors made in final grading. In this case, I can’t see the seller losing because upon return, he’s not receiving the same item he sent the buyer as the label will have changed significantly not matching the product he sent the buyer, therefore receiving an item altered by the buyer. Having gone through this myself with buyers on more than one occasion, once this evidence was presented to eBay, I was vindicated in every case with the feedback to prove it.
  15. Yep Can happen from stacking books so high that the weight sliding to one side causes the upper books to pull the covers from the bottom of the stack to one side, basically misaligning them
  16. May as well glue them back together. If you ever find a cover less copy and decide to have it graded it’ll most likely get the “married cover” notation anyway but having a complete copy, graded or not, is still a nice addition to the collection imho
  17. As a shoe collector, I used to make these out of discarded soda bottles to protect the toe box of expensive air jordans
