I used the cs number on google. Could be a matter of the time of day but the us rep I spoke to was just as clueless until I had them forward the call to an adult

It’s been awhile but there was a time this could be reported as “shill bidding”. After speaking with a clueless millenial in customer service a couple of days ago, I’m under the impression that fair and honest guidelines aren’t a priority at eBay anymore. Having been a sniper since eBay began, my Spidey sense usually tells me when to not even bother watching let alone bidding on certain auctions. I just tell myself there are plenty more of the same book. Just be patient

Image bleed from storage
B2D327 replied to Rayzor13's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
Dry cleaning may be able to lessen how visible it is but depends on whether it was absorbed deep enough into the fibers to be visible on both sides. Pressing would actually make it worse. There are solutions using other methods but I wouldn’t advise those for someone inexperienced as you can damage the book further -

Pretty sure Todd wasn’t the only one who handled your books, especially considering the volume that were sent so it’s unfortunately the chance you take if you’re not there to hand them to him personally. -
The Black CAT club (Cerebus1, Albedo 2, TMNT1)
B2D327 replied to WolverineX's topic in Copper Age Comic Books
Gained a lot of knowledge reading this thread. I was a fan of the Cerebus books when I saw the “Wolveroach” issues at my lcs back in junior high and just purchased a #1 from the guy posted above I remember getting the first 3 TMNTs from my local shop at $5 a piece just before the first cartoon series was announced. Yusagi books were never on my radar though. Seemed like everyone was publishing knock offs as a gimmick (Grips comes to mind) and I’ve passed over literally hundreds of books that I’d otherwise have picked up just because. -

Thanks. Book has been a grail for a long time so for it to pop up here on the boards at the right time was an omen to “pull the trigger, NOW!!!” Got tmnt back in 87(?); Never heard of Albedo until now. Will do some reading up on it, so thanks for the tip -

This week’s hi lites: always loved the cover to TEC 457 since my brother bought it for me off the spinner rack. The Doctor Strange has a crazy back story to it, being shipped to the wrong customer who then shipped it to me but just shoved it in an envelope instead of the comic mailer it was in originally, causing some minor damage but getting me a partial discount after all was said and done ...had to add that Sub-Mariner 6 is my favorite cover of all time

As someone who constantly pulled them out of the 3/$1 bin of my lcs back in the 80s, I completely agree

Corner bend with pic
B2D327 replied to mike devon's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
Pretty sure a grader would inspect it very carefully using the optimal lighting to pick up those imperfections just for that reason. Just because it’s not easily spotted doesn’t mean it’s not there and the goal is letting you know how close/far a book is from perfect and preserve it and a lot of books do score lower than what the person submitting it expected
