LOL ... that would be awesome. But yeah, for now, it's unfortunate. These cards aren't worth a whole lot. I mean, I picked the ones to grade based on eBay sales - anything that was maybe $50 - $200. But I was going with PSA 10's, not CSG 7's, 8', and 9's. I guess I'll just have to put them back in the closet for another 30 years or so, and then sell them.

I've used CGC grading for comics for years, but I'm new to CSG grading. I have ~5 boxes of Donruss baseball cards, all from 1988. So, as an experiment, I sent in a bulk order of 51 for grading. I just got the grades back, and they were surprising. These are all new cards, stored for 30 years and forgotten. I picked 100 or so of the most valuable ones (with plenty of multiples), then set aside the ones with obvious flaws. Well, I guess "obvious flaws" is different for me than someone more experienced. And some things are very different between comics and cards. For example, printing flaws on comic books don't detract from the grade, unless it is very noticeable. But they count here. Same with off-center printing. I was only looking at corners and edges, and other human-caused defects. Anyway, I guess I did alright? Not sure. What do you guys think? My grades were: 2 at 6.5 2 at 7.0 4 at 7.5 10 at 8.0 17 at 8.5 16 at 9.0 I was really surprised there weren't any 9.5 or 10. I guess those are as rare as the 9.9 and 10.0 in comics.

Well, there's a lot of "working the refs" over there. A lot of right-wing, pro-Trump reactionaries who - for some reason - don't like me. ;-) So any post that can conceivably be "against the rules," they'll jump on it as a violation. And I guess some of the mods are sympathetic, so they jump on, too. But never make a claim without proof. So here's an example. They have a "no politics" rule over there, defined as being no discussions about politics. So, just mentioning a person who happens to be a politician isn't enough to violate the rule. Here's Jesse, the head moderator, explaining it: Here's what I said. Jesse sent the screen shot, highlighting in yellow the content he claimed was "political." (FYI, I posted this before HeroesCon was cancelled.) For this innocuous post, I got a four-week suspension.

I totally respect that decision, and I get it. But you should know, there are other people who work there, a lot of other people, who don't at all share his views. Managers who pushed back on the stupid politics that he was putting in the newsletter, all the pro-Trump , etc. Including, I understand, his son, who handles much of the day-to-day operations at MCS. They forced Buddy to take all the right-wing political out of the newsletter that they send out each week, and put it in a separate - personal - blog. So like I said, I get not wanting to support a racist and bigoted dude. I totally respect that. But there are a lot more people, some great people, who work there whom you'd also be supporting. I only deal with them, the great team on the consignment side of things. And I've given my piece of mind directly to Buddy plenty of times, too. He knows I have zero respect for him, and he knows exactly why.

Actually, I didn't break any rules. The rules were interpreted to apply to me. The first was when I called Buddy Saunders a PoS for advocating that Covid is not a big deal, it's just like the flu, we need to get back to work, etc. (He also insisted on calling it the "China virus" in his newsletter, even though people had already explained to him why that was racist and harmful.) Buddy Saunders isn't a member of the forum and has never posted there. But they decided to suspend me for a week for "insulting a fellow forum member." Other people get warnings when a rule is ambiguous. Some get a warning just because. I never once got a warning instead of a ban or suspension.

This week has the first appearance of Canto; the Young Avengers Patriot, Iron Lad, Asgardian, Hulkling, and Kate Bishop; the first full appearance and origin of Calvin Ellis; and an stunning Bosslogic cover for Dark Nights Death Metal Rise of the New God #1. Plus a few Jimenez variant Batman covers (Nightwing! And Batman!), a Todd McFarlane Amazing Spider-Man #301, and the Cho variant cover for The Mighty Thor #4. The Thor is a great looking cover, but I have NO idea why they graded it a 9.0. Keyed it in wrong? Who knows. Grader notes would be useful, but CGC has stopped doing that, so I can only assume it was a mistake. Have a look at the close-up though, and maybe you can see something I missed. (My notes said, "four or so spine stress lines, don’t break color." But they went to my presser first, before grading, and it came out fine. So both of use were surprised by the 9.0.) Same goes for the ASM #301, by the way ... it is a beautiful copy of that issue, and the 9.0 was a big surprise.) We generally disagreed on stuff, but you could talk to him, and learn a thing or two if you listened. Ten copies! That's fantastic. I don't recall how many I bought, but it was in that neighborhood. With a few variants thrown in. I've sold a couple, I have a few at CGC, a few at my presser, and a few around here. Disorganized as hell, but here somewhere. And SIKTC, I've got TONS of that series, and just about every issue. Especially #16. Man, I loaded up on the variant covers for that one. Might be a year before I make my money back on those, but I'm not going to miss out on anything. But #1 A, that's harder and harder to get for a good price these days. I have three total - two waiting to be graded and one just sent to my presser that will never be a 9.8. But one of the other two will be, and maybe (fingers crossed) both. That would be great.

Hey, great to hear from you! I'm also glad you got some SIKTC #1's ... it's a great series, and the value on that thing has really climbed. The high I think was around $1700 for a 9.8, but it's pulled back a little, to maybe $1300? Which is still solid, and the fan base is still growing. I just sold a 9.6 at auction for $600. And the auction above did very well, also. That's funny that you commented just now, because I also just received a message from Bronte. Coincidence? Was there some more discussion of this whole thing over at CBCS? I don't read it very much ... Jesse had my IP address blocked, so I can't even read the forum on my desktop. Hi, all. A great bunch of comics this week! This is the last big auction for awhile, though I will still put a handful out here and there. (Next week there is only one, but it's a beauty!) There are 26 total this week, including eight Something Is Killing The Children, the series that just won't quit. Two days ago someone cleared out my biggest issues, buying six comics for about $2200 total! I have more on the way, but the pipeline is long and slow. But these are more affordable! Two versions of #1, two of #2, and #3, #7, #9, and #10. THE FINAL 24 END TONIGHT! Tonight (Thursday) is the final night of the MyComicShop auction - Moderns, M-Z. And there are just 24 left from this lot (all 9.8). We have some fantastic covers and books, and still plenty of bargains to be had. The first issue (Peach Momoko variant) of Strange Academy is bid up to $241, neck-and-neck with the first full appearance of Punchline in Hell Arisen #3, sitting at $253.
