  1. dude that's a great plot for movie. Someone wants a comic collector dead so they plant a virus inside of key slab and the key has a fixable flaw with a press so the comic collector cracks opens the slab to press it (not to read the story nor appreciate the art, letter's page, vintage ads) but to increase profits and BAM lets the virus lose!!
  2. I'm not joking. You've got to wash your hands for at least 20 seconds with this Covid-19 thing. Did you happen to see the restrooms at Wondercon two years ago? Who knows what viruses are all over slabs with all them funky hands fondling them. No bigee if No-Soap-Man buys the slab, just seems to me those type don't buy, ask a lot of questions and when they do speak, they don't say anything. I've worked behind the table for a dealer/store owner friend a couple of times. It's hard as hades. That's why I just pay the dealer what he/she/they are asking for considering what they endure and what illness they'll probably catch getting coughed all over while asked dumb questions or telling stories about how their mom threw out their comics. BYW, is that true about Emerald City Con?
  3. curious as how Covid-19 is gonna react within the comic convention going/pokemon/magic the gathering playing individuals who have problems with basic hygiene to begin with, like No-Soap Man I saw/smelt at a convention not too long ago. We may lose a lot of collectors, impacting the resales of our books and the hobby as a whole.
  4. trust me, you do not want to be an extra in a film. Trust me on this, please. Unless you're 18, stoned 24/7 and the show is Baywatch.
  5. Don't know how this will effect (affect?) the Chinese saving (and/or pushing prices even higher on key books) in the comic collecting market as has been discussed in the AF15 threads a number of years ago. I miss you Subby1932. Please come back.
  6. wish I had money right now. I don't. Newcomers around here pay attention to this guy and his books. He's a comic collector's collector.
  7. draw map please. seems like a fun adventure.
  8. Judas Priest do I have a headache. Kids must be having a blast.
  9. if it makes you feel any better, if I correctly read the HA auction email I briefly skimmed over, some kinda Playstation game station-thingee is currently going at 300k and some Romita ASM OA is going for 150K. But who knows what's real anymore and what's not.
  10. Cooll name. Peter Cushing rules the universe. Sorry don’t know. I know Electra was based on some body builder lady. Read many interviews by miller never heard him mention inspiration for kingpin. try tracking down Miller and asking him in a respectful manner. That journey alone would be worthy of a magazine article. good luck!
  11. this hobby must be a blast for young kids just getting into it. Oh yeah, they don't.
  12. man then the sales tax if you live somewhere HA is.... whomever becomes (or remains) the President of the United States should pass legislation that no comic book can sell for more than $150,000.
  13. yup. "yup" meaning I very much agree with you about how great the lee-romita books were, not "yup" it's blasphemous.
  14. About all I realize is that one of my three cats all over the cat box for the third time in less then 1 hour.
  15. Geez. Tough crowd. Let’s get that 9.4 and hang it as an example. I say it sells for 150k. Things really slowing down for our poor old AF15.
  16. Human Fly book isn't bad. Bill Milanto (SP?) did good stuff. Shame what happen to him. Come on, I'm not the only one that keeps comic books in the bathroom to read during long stints on the throne.
  17. I have a stack of The Human Fly marvel comics in my bathroom on the crapper. They’re starting to stink but are a good read/art by Bill Milanto. When is a good time to sell these? Movie announcement? If slabbed to increase retail value does the aroma stay in the slab forever?
  18. I believe SD went to the 1964 NYC comic con. He saw some fans pass some art work (his?) to each other and found it disrespectful as SD claims they "threw without care" the art to each other. Those involve dispute this and say some air caught the artwork it and it only seem to slam down between them. Or something like this. Because of this evil event he never went to another convention. Perhaps someone with more knowledge of that book about the 1964 NYC comic con can add to this, or correct it. I love my letters from SD. They are in bags and boards with more care than the comics themselves. And yes he was fine with you writing him as long as you asked a particular question. Does anyone know the story about all the dead babies found in brown paper bags (to make some political point) all over NYC that SD wanted to put in a SM comic? Gotta love my wife. She insisted on knocking on his door. I felt it was wrong, but hell, anybody else married here. A happy wife is a happy life.
  19. Don't compare your insides to someone else's outsides, Grasshopper. I don't watch youtube comic book stuff and don't know the you tube individuals you're talking about, but the fact that you can articulate your feeling so simply and honestly leads me to believe you're probably a pretty decent person. Decent people=Cool Cats! Welcome. If you're looking for good stories to track down, I'm a big Frank miller fan. Try some of his stuff. Or Alan Moore on Swamp Thing.
  20. Here's the low down as I see it: The only opinion/experience that matters here is that of some one who lost a book in a fire, flood, theft from gun vault, whatever and is trying to recover from said insurance company. I mean, what else matters? All insurance companies are great at collecting premiums. "My company is sooo great!"
