  1. All my books are 10s. Honestly what’s the point other wise?
  2. In all seriousness, I'm confused. I know Bruce puts on the Con at The Reef (Downtown Los Angeles, south of The 10)a couple times a year. Does Bruce currently have a comic store in downtown Burbank that is open everyday, etc, etc. Also: Have you checked out the Comic/vintage toy shop in Whitter, Fisk Comics? 9826 Painter Ave. Unit M Whitter 90605 Was at a Stan Ridgway concert at Whitter college in Feb and he had just opened it. Owner seemed cool. Interesting vintage toys. Just kinda stumbled in waiting for concert to start so didn't have time to check out back issues.
  3. He's got a store now? Or are you refering to the con at the Reef. I lived in the Olive Caprie furnished apartments (bed bugs and all) at Olive and Buena Vista
  4. I'm hiding my torch violence with gun violence.
  5. I'd dig through your mailbox and grab the goodies before I blew it up. No sense destroying nice books.
  6. People are just having a conversation about this. Is that ok? Don't think anybody is advocating picking up guns and torches to storm the Holy Land in Florida. Or, conversely, to pick up guns and torches and find those that they disagree with. People are just talking, while doing stuff around the house. Cool?
  7. so is the general consenses that AF15 took off (this last time ??) spring/summer 2017? Also someone mentioned (Pee Wee) that AF15 has been on an upward trejectory since 1970. I've got a book about first comic con (1964 NYC) and reprints of sellers prices. Af15 was on the way up then.
  8. NoMan's true Los Angeles Stories: 1987- just moved to Los Angeles. Got a furnished apartment in Burbank, Olive and Buena Vista. Olive Caprie - Luxury Living for You and Me. Was walking to what used to be a Safeway down Olive, across from where Bruce used to have his comic shop. In the parking lot was a fire works stand, kinda an inside deal. Cool! Fire work stands are a common site where I'm from. I walk inside. IT'S A BAIT AND SWITCH DEAL - pictures of kids missing limbs every where from fireworks mishaps. Moans coming through cheap speakers. Folks dressed up as Doctors and Nurses fake operating on someone amputating a limb. Fake blood. Firesworks are illegal in California, Son one of the fake doctors tells me. "They can be deadly." Put on by the Lions or Rotary or some such mess. Went everyday it was so bad-. Looked for it following year and never saw it again.
  9. Never. Just stuff. Like mailboxes, tree stumps, Micronaut toys ( ) and stuff. My friend never wanted to hurt others and took great care not to.
  10. What if you have blown up a lot of stuff as a kid? I'm asking for a friend.
  11. I've never seen/known about the Fight Comics #31 cover until this thread. Did the violent covers on Pro-USA war covers ever come up in that hearing W. Gaines was called to or was it just the horror comics?
  12. A display of the World's largest collection of Godzilla toys Vinyl Conflict: The World of Godzilla Toys Featuring the collection of film editor Mark Livolsi Saturday June 22nd 7-11pm and Sunday June 23 Noon-8pm Gallery Nucleus 210 E. Main St. Alhambra, Ca. (Los Angeles)
  13. Thanks. I believe the CJ article pointed me towards the DD title. I have no memory of Xmen.
  14. If your's is the 8.0 sold in Aug 2011, you have gotten some exceptional offers. Good for you, my man.
  15. I also believe this. Don't know who's doing the flipping, but I agree with it's gonna continue to soften. Good look with FF1
  16. Indeed you do. Is yours the book that had a one time owner who, unfortunately died in a vehicle crash? Is the the fact you had two offers? They were lowballs? or?
  17. which brings me back to a conversation I was having with Vintage Comics yesterday that I left because I probably wasn't explaining my thoughts/question/example well enough for anybody to understand but my cat: AF15 8.0 sells for record amount. Some folks think, "Hey I've got 7.0/7.5/8.0 and now seems the time to sell, cause, well the 8.0 just sold for record amount. Time to cash in. These books come to market and instead of record amounts they sell for less, because, the Deep Pocket Guy already spent his money on the 8.0. So, in my World's Greatest Comic Book Collector developing mind, I'm coming to the conclusion that a record sale doesn't guarantee continued record sales and perhaps right after a record sale is not the time to sell. But what do I know? Not much, I admit.
  18. It certainly does reflect well on Bob Storms. Something to keep in mind. I do understand your comment about the 5.0 comparisons. I can't find an image of the CC 5.0 that sold for 30k (about) last week for a side by side. But I do see a 7.5 up coming auction on CC. There just seems to be a avalanche of these books coming to market. Ok not an avalanche, but a very steady stream as in if I have cash I'll have no problem securing one. I agree there seems to be a softening of the market. Will it continue to soften? I think it will. Anyways with this softening of the market, member twmjr1's comment that af15 "hasn't gone down in value" (if he/she means $ value) and "never will" is vastly incorrect.
  19. I don't think that's true. Member here named Glassman sold a 5.0 for 50k (about) during the peak of AF15 madness about two years ago. A 5.0 recently sold for 30k (about). Obviously the book is more important than the grade in the corner, does it have MC or not? , but man that's 20 grand downturn in two years. I'd be weary of just buying an AF15 in 2019 cause it's a sure thing.
  20. how about your thoughts on what triggers a FOMO explosion like we saw 2 or 3 years ago? As I said earlier I don't think it's MCU related so do you believe it's one book auction related. Or a mass psychosis?
  21. There does seem to many, many, many copies of this book. Wonder if it's truly the "bullet proof" investment every auction house website claims it to be? If it's "bullet proof" in a higher grade, wonder where that grade starts. 9.2? There just so many of these books. More everyday it seems to me.
  22. I'm interested in why the big Spiderman books (AF15, AM 1) shoot up when it's not motivated by cinema? (Look at me sounding all fancy) I mean there's Spidey movies every 23 minutes. So the run up of two or three years ago wasn't MCU related. So it's the FOMO. But what triggers this? What triggers that "all the sheep running into the barn" gif?
