  1. See what I get for getten' stuff for free. I don't pay attention.
  2. Was surfing through the "Back From CGC" thread. Saw the Sterenko issues of CA with his tombstone saying he died. Got me to thinking: Anybody ever die in a marvel or dc book and actually stay dead?
  3. Perhaps I need to re-read thread. Did crooks follow Our Hero from the con to his dinning spot and unattended car or did they just break into a random car and saw comics?
  4. Is this a reflection of the crooks as in they don't think romance books are worthy of fencing?
  5. I remember when this OA sold. Wish I had the cash at that time.
  6. The why was he (or is he still) so popular and ubiquitous in comics in the early 90s (if I remember correctly)? I had stopped reading new mainstream stuff at that point, sticking mostly with Fantagraphics and Drawn & Quarterly. I'd look at that Leitchfield stuff and think who the heck is buying this stuff?
  7. F-ing cops. So much for the "if you see something or hear something, call the police" posters I see around town. Should read "if the situation is already researched and solved in an air-tight manner, we may show up."
  8. I'm reading through this thread. Only up to where all books were recovered. Great! Wonder if there is any way some of the detectives around here can continue to follow this story and not let it be buried. Names of perps, their punishment (if any) when it is dished out. Were they collectors? Were they dealers? Were they not involved in comics but know comics+money?
  9. Yeah I was wondering: Was it a piece of sh*t that knows comics or a piece of sh*t that doesn't know comics. It seems by the break in they knew what was what and who would have it, meaning they are piece of sh*ts in the collecting field. So why would they take it to a dealer? Doesn't make sense to me.
  10. I used to publish a zine in my early 20s. My father was an attorney. One day after looking at some of my work, he said, "One of these days you're gonna get sued." I miss you, dad. RIP.
  11. I need to read that Air Conditioning book by him. Been sitting on my bookshelf for years.
  12. I was just back from my big trip and I was kinda jazzed and wanted to share it. Don't want to start something. Perhaps the crux of the OP should have been that I think Comic Cons without back issues suck. If they are in the Middle East, East New Jersey, Los Angeles or whatever.
  13. I'm old, too. So bidets are good for cleaning up and they are standard issue in Dubai. I mess myself some.
  14. You get a yen for women in Hijabs, that’s why. Middle eastern women are way good looking. Serious.
  15. Can I go to Hong Kong? Or Micronesia, not Guam but Palau or Yap or Chuck? The wife is talking about those next.
  16. I knew the comic con there would suck. I didn't have to go to know that. But I shelled out $40.00 and, well, it sucked. Having been there twice, the anti-Dubai sentiments leave me scratching my head.
  17. Billy Hayes had smuggled drugs out of Turkey before he got caught. Good he apologized. All the narcotics I had I had a note from my doctor! Seriously, the State Department website says to do that. Anyways, I here ya tho. It's just not how I live life. As the LAPD will say to you if you ask them if somewhere is a good area: Everything's cool until it's not.
  18. I believe there is a graphic novel about part of this road to Baghdad I'm speaking of called Roll Hard written by Robert Pelton Young and drawn by Alex Toth.
  19. It really is about following directions. I was told if I went to Baghdad "it would be a one way ticket." I was told this from cab drivers to a United Nations election official lawyer. Finally on one of the last days there I was introduced to someone described as in "the mafia" in Iraq. I believe this to be a joke on a "crazy American" looking to die, however, the person seemed ernest that if I had money to rent a bullet/bomb proof car and a security detail of 4 that he could get me there although I would not be allowed to enter the green zone. I told him I just wanted to "chill" in Baghdad. And he said, "forever?" The road from As Sulaymaniyah (where we were) to Baghdad is the problem, not so much the city of Baghdad.
