Yes as I commented above I think it can lead to decision fatigue unless you have a very good plan going on. My two most memorable examples were trying to buy multiple consecutive pages from a book being split up and the Al Williamson Star Wars tryout strips that Hakes sounds. In the former case I ended up with a bit of a mishmash, in the latter case I ended up with nothing.

I swear this is what Robert Dennis did all the time (lighten pieces from tanning). I still haven't sent my piece in for evaluation. Also, don't post that EQ piece to the EQ Facebook group unless you want Richard berating you. I asked him about an upcoming piece at auction that was being discussed in terms of possible damage and instead of replying to me he posted my personal message to him on the EQ fan page with a whole helping of disdain. I have to admit HA's video on this topic turned my opinion a little. Although I never enjoyed the endless auction closing of Hakes and other similar auctions that use this format the ability to prioritize and re-allocate resources really does solve the problem of listing sequencing. That said, 30 minute extensions seem excessive. Five minutes may be too short, however as I recall a CC auction where a book was being split that was a confusing mess to track consecutive pages, etc.

yes i was referring to the constant debates about shrink authenticity on vintage RPG products, for example. I tend to think its overblown bellyaching from old timers upset about the pricing but have also bought some recent pieces where I was feeling a bit duped by the sealed claim (thankfully relatively cheap).

Yeah I suppose. Wonder where Lego is on the scale? I can say action figures were NOT made that way and even worse the packaging, which is most of the value, was certainly not made for longevity (which makes sense, of course). Modern toys are basically made with the worst possible plastics now to the point some lines are notorious for breaking right out of the package. I've seen videos where collectible sneakers have yellowed after only a few years. Not fun.

So is the theory here that making people place tracking bids before the cutoff elevates the price before live bidding? It seems unusual to limit the buyer pool in the end with this strategy. LCG Auctions does this well. Its very unsatisfying from a bidder's perspective and feels like it opens you up for more shill bidding.

Good info, thank you. Funny you mention pressings because WOW I find that a confusing landscape. But I am not talking about vintage records here but more recent releases where its clear they are intentionally releasing multiple color pressings, special editions, special special editions, etc. On price stickers, I think vintage action figure collecting led the way in not preferring them. But there is no real issue with authenticity there, unlike shrinkwrapped products like video games, records and for me RPG products. While I don't care for the look of price stickers it does make me feel a bit better about the shrink being vintage (although people can lift old stickers too).

Yup, the carded Storm shadow with broken ring is enough to keep me from ever collecting these things. Same thing for the vintage Kenner 18 inch Alien or pretty much any large format 70s-80s toy. Vintage toys, in general are just a growing nightmare of plastic deterioration; it seems with every year now there is a new figure succumbing to the inevitable.

Any particular reason for TIG over VMG for the vinyl?? Neither seems to have a census.

Likely a website maintenance issue but if you search Fire and Ice both of Asrar's covers come up still. I had recent communications with both the artist and dealer about these pieces. Not sure what to make of it now.
