  1. I had this saved because it looked pretty cool, never saw this show, no clue what any of it is about but was surprised at the result when I got back to the computer this afternoon. https://comics.ha.com/itm/animation-art/production-cel/berserk-season-1-episode-6-guts-pan-sized-key-master-setup-production-cel-c12-a1-olm-1997-/a/7345-51013.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515
  2. True, it could still break 5 figures. I swallowed my tongue when the baseball card sized Darkwolf Fire and Ice prelim (Jaguar God 2) got 10k, and that was 2016.
  3. Talk about wall power!! The Michaels framing rep must have be thrilled at this one. Look at that ratio of art size to framed size https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/miscellaneous/frank-frazetta-man-the-endangered-species-preliminary-illustration-c-1984-/p/7342-88002.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515 Seems there is a constant choice of Frazettas at auction at multiple price points. And I swear we are seeing some repeats, hard to keep track. More prime BWS conan covers as well. Kirby faces! https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/splash-pages/jack-kirby-and-mike-royer-satan-s-six-1-splash-page-18-original-art-topps-1993-/p/7342-154006.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515 Curious how the content affects this From Hell page (yikes, been wanting one for awhile but not this): https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/story-page/eddie-campbell-and-peter-mullins-from-hell-6-chapter-9-story-page-38-original-art-mad-love/p/7342-23001.s?ic4=GalleryView-ShortDescription-071515 Looking like a lot of variety in this auction.
  4. Yes the community comes off as about 20 years behind in their understanding of colletibles
  5. You're going to make me post a random alpha Magic card or random Magic squirrel painting aren't you.
  6. A story as old as time it seems. Don't give Netflix any ideas they way they churn content but it seems like they could make the same documentary and just switch out the artist name.
  7. At first I thought you were right, then I wondered how you are meant to depict someone of African descent in a comic, then I decided it would be done by the colorist and not the inker. Or...is this actually a kid in blackface??
  8. Curious if this will kill the market for graded vinyl or not. Ditto for the graded RPG items that are now hitting the auction block. Early days for both before a market is established or... The vitriol the RPG folks have against grading is pretty strong, I have to say.
  9. In terms of weird things people collect the concert posters for concerts one didn't attend rank up their pretty highly in my book (though not higher than graded ticket stubs of the same). But my question is how you have so many high grade 60s era concert posters like this? A CGC 10 poster from 1967??
  10. I'm sure the consignore is happy with this graded record result: https://entertainment.ha.com/itm/music-memorabilia/recordings/vangelis-china-sealed-lp-vinyl-record-encapsulated-by-tuned-in-grading-polydor-pd-1-6199-rated-75/a/41180-5621.s?type=bidnotice-tracked-endofauction
  11. I think it looks ok. My first impression of this piece was that YES it was babes and barbarians but all things considered it wa spretty tasteful. I was also drawn to the way the back was painted more the bikini in this picture. Looks a bit blown out though, perhaps flash? Some surface abrasion as well, not that it mattered much.
  12. I much preferred the rougher female sketch for 17k over both of these.
  13. For every female panel you have to subtract every panel with a bald guy in it that kills the mood. Panel 3, 4 and 5, don't really exist.
  14. I lose sleep at night when I feel like I am stuck with, and cannot sell, a 1k item let alone this.
  15. I agree, I was prepared to go to 25k on the page, and also noted the Leia content as a reason why. The last one HA auctioned sold for right about the same. Everything else has ballooned since then so I wouldn't have been shocked at 30k on the ROTJ paper. That said, for 20-30k I really should have gone for a Hakes strip. More regrets Frazetta DD did not hit reserve.
  16. So this was the first time I ever got approval for an extended payment plan with HA....and then I proceeded to forgot about the auction today and totally spaced the page I was after. If anyone has a Williamson ROTJ page... To the winner, nice buy I think and in line with recent comps. I would have gone higher as I've been after one for awhile. Took down the BR page yesterday though, nice provenance on both.
  17. Can anyone point me to where the commission rates are posted on CAF? His rep told me to just look on his page there but I cannot for the life of me find it.
  18. I honestly don't know what sentence is the most shocking in that article, but this one is close: "According to cryptocurrency market tracker CoinGecko, the colorful digital illustrations of apes can now be bought for as little as $52,445"
  19. Posted on their FB page. Now that the issues that happened last week on the web site are resolved, I want to provide an update on what transpired and to communicate that the protocols that we now have in place have made us stronger and more resistant to attacks than the vast majority of firms. The fact of the matter is that no web site is immune to this. Many Fortune 500 companies, banks, credit reporting agencies, hospitals, and governmental agencies have experienced attacks. The only thing any of us can do is learn, adjust, and prepare. Here’s the deal. Though we had previously been lucky enough to have avoided it when other auction companies within the collectibles field were hit with attacks, most notably in 2019 and 2020, last week, ComicLink was a target of a url XSS redirection attack which forced browsers accessing certain parts of the web site to be redirected to untrusted external sites. This was often, and fortunately, accompanied by warnings in the user’s browser or anti-malware software which cautioned against proceeding further. If you do not have up to date malware detection on your computer or mobile device, I strongly suggest it. Due to precautions that we had taken previously, sensitive customer data such as credit cards (maintained by a third party provider) or passwords (encrypted) were never compromised by this and there is no data loss. Attacks were staggered and defended against last week and during this time I worked with my IT team day and night to determine how to best defend against recurring attacks, intentionally bringing the entire web site down while we made purposeful changes. We implemented a major security upgrade in partnership with Cloudflare, whose clients include or have included the likes of IBM, LendingTree, Shopify, Garmin and many others. Early Friday morning we brought the site back up safely behind Cloudflare’s firewall. The web site appeared back up to some users before others. This had to do with one of two things, either name server migration propagating to some Internet Service Providers before others, or caching issues related to the disparate ways that browsers cache web sites. By late Friday morning, the web site was back up for most Internet Service Providers, and by early afternoon, we could see that name server propagation was complete in 99.9% of the world. The likelihood is that any viewing issues subsequently were related to caching or false positives related to security protocols. In the unlikely event that you are still having trouble viewing the site, the recommendation is that you clear your cache and reload your browser and/or restart your computer or mobile device. E-mail or phone us if you cannot resolve it or if you believe you are being unintentionally blocked from accessing the web site. Subsequent to bringing the site back up and implementing prevention procedures, some non-critical error messages were found on the web site. We have spent the last few days addressing those and they have all been corrected. That said, please let us know if you experience any errors or believe that you were blocked in error from a safe connection point. Thank you for trusting us to be your partner in buying and selling collectibles. We will remain diligent about security going forward.
  20. Thanks for saying this. I don't understand why substrate doesn't get discussed more often. And I don't understand why anyone uses canvas. As a non-artist I can only assume I am missing something about the painting process itself because it seems that a masonite (or similar hard and smooth) surface would be superior in many ways. I find the texture distracting as well, from a visual stand point. And why use stretcher bars anyway. They always end of damaging the canvas and it can be framed flat anyway.
  21. I am assuming this means no money was changing hands because at this point you'd have to know whatever market you were trying to create isn't happening. Someone would be in 10 million at this point for what, to generate commissions on a bunch of lower tier pieces to come later??
  22. Very cool piece. This artist is getting some nice exposure with the map she did for the new Conan series. I went to her site, subbed to her newsletter and saw this piece and went "wait a minute"...
  23. I was the seller. It was a global shipping program scam.
  24. All well and good until they let someone steal 900 dollars from you with no recourse and no way to contact a person that actually knows what they are doing. And yes I tried all the normal social channels, it got me nowhere. Now buying a car on eBay is not something I would ever consider.
