Hellcat (Avengers #144) came later. Patsy Walker finds the Cat costume in storage at Roxxon to become Hellcat. By then, I think, original Cat Greer Grant had become Tigra. I think Hellcat’s personality was pretty well fleshed out as you described its potential — in her years in the Defenders. That’s a forgotten run that’s a really fun read. I think for most people when they think of the Defenders they think of Dr Strange, Hulk, Namor, but the backbone of the title for a long time was Valkyrie, Nighthawk and Hellcat.

The first recommendation I saw here came from @Robot Man He said something to the effect of how those rare records guys are way more over the top obsessive/secretive than us Golden Age comics collectors, and I thought coming from him, to this audience on here, that’s saying something. (Feel free to correct my paraphrase of course, Bob, but that’s the gist of how I remember it, and it’s certainly the impression your recommendation left on me.) All that said, it is an enjoyable read!
