  1. My GL 7 amuses you, Jimmers? @porcupine48 ??
  2. I hear Lizards have got a sweet tooth for really sharp Silver DC, so...
  3. I remember the various minor flaws; sounds like the C/P got most all of them! That is a nice grade jump from where I would have placed it before the work was done. But yes, the colors are deep and vibrant on this copy, which also helps it pop, especially cleaned up. Congrats again; glad that worked out so well for you.
  4. Holy carp on that grade! Awesome to see, JP! Congrats! Did you have it pressed?
  5. Eerily paralleling Thomas Cole's The Course of Empire
  6. You could really break out the '50s and back the whole social relevance intro up to that era with the issues of morality in many EC stories, the social issues played out in pre-code crime, the themes explored (albeit subtly) in romance titles... The Bronze Age was more a creative explosion than copper, with the resurgence of genre themes (romance, horror) that waned since the 50s and the addition of new ones like sword and sorcery. I'm in the minority here but I view all but the earliest copper as Modern -- a lot of the mess that bloomed in the early to mid 90's was taking shape in the 80's. A lot of Marvel's output was wincingly bad -- the ruination of Hank Pym, Iron Man with the severed spinal cord (because the bad heart and alcoholism weren't enough, and this was original ); the Beyonder with his mullet and disco pants...
  7. No he's not. Hes a copy of Daffy Duck -- he makes wisecracks, breaks the fourth wall, and gets up after shotgun blasts.
  8. I may leave this open a bit longer but begin removing some books to move elsewhere. If you're on the fence on certain items, please take or PM about them. If you're done, PM and we'll begin wrap-up to get your books out to you ASAP. Thanks everyone!
  9. And we have a SOLD to @SkOw for $40 shipped! Thanks Matt! And thank you everyone who bid, visited, chimed in, etc … I hope this provided some fun, and I'm happy to share a find that I thoroughly enjoyed. I had a lot of fun reading them and I hope you do too. Rough as they are, they are supple. Thanks again! I'll see everyone over in Elibowman's thread going on now!
  10. Lookee here...we've got lookers, we've got lurkers, we've got snipers...we've got the Human Torch himself flying by to remind everybody how much Golden Age goodness resides here, within everyone's grasp! Flame On! And we've got a time check from Jollycomics: we're closing in on the 10-minute mark, skOw thus far fending off all comers and not another in sight! But who knows what lurks beneath those calm waters...?
  11. Whoa-ho! Less than half an hour to go and, after making like Secretariat all afternoon, @SkOw is briefly passed by @JollyComics with a bid of $37, only to come back hard with $40... We have $40 shipped within the U.S., folks, with less than half an hour to go! I tell ya it's a Golden Age barroom brawl for these ducks, looking like a scene from a Kirby double-splash from Boys' Ranch in here!
  12. Trash-talkin' top bidder, baby! That's what I'm talking about! Cuz who don't love a good Golden Age barroom brawl?!?! (THAT is a great name for a future sales thread for somebody )
  13. Okay, I'm back, the groceries are stowed, and SkOw is schooling everybody! Three hours to go....
  14. 707 counters at $35 and SkOw comes back at $36! Thank you both again! Boardies and gentlemen, I am going grocery shopping before the snow flies, so brawl amongst yourselves for a bit....Do shots, toss empty beer mugs, break chairs over each other's heads, help a damsel or two dance on the pool table...you know the drill, run the place like a Fox pre-code Western! See ya later! And thanks to all our brawling bidders!
