  1. SOLD! Okay, this one is not as nice but it's called out in the Guide for "extreme violence." -- U.S. Paratroops #5. Kinstler cover. GVG with splits to bottom staple, inch or two at top. Staples pulled in front,,cover holding at both in back. None on census. $60
  2. Next are some sharp, scarce Avon war books that I cannot find comps on for the most part, followed by two Atlas war that are as nice or nicer....
  3. SOLD! Youthful Romances #6 VG+ due to small piece missing back cover, presents fine or better from front. Only a lone 4.0 on census; that sold Oct 8 on eBay from Dolgoff at $150. I offered this once before at $125. let's go $100 on a tough Ribage romance that will top what's on the census.
  4. Feature Book #49, Perry Mason in "The Case of the Lucky Legs" in VG/VG+ Note lower left tear in cover (brown suit) with tape repair inside. Some longer creasing in cover but not color-breaking. (WAS $80) NOW $70
  5. SOLD! This next book is the final Fox Giant, Hoot Gibson's Western Round-up nn. (1950) Comps are scarce, Heritage sold two, both back in 2006. There is only one on the census, a 2.0. Calling this one VG-. As with all Fox Giants, these are rebound remainders without covers, so some stories are incomplete as Fox used inside covers for story pages. Besides the western material, there's Pedro and Maureen Tandem Take it for $100
  6. SOLD! Frankenstein #13 VG Not a classic cover from the run, but the contents are as bizarre as any. A few months back, a very comparable copy went at auction on eBay at $168. I'm going to stick with my original ask: $125
  7. I am going to open with one re-run because I am surprised it got passed over in the past. Then we will get into fresh offerings, with other reruns mixed in here and there down the line....
  8. Okay boardies, we need a raucous hangout thread on a Saturday night, regardless of whether any of the books get taken. Speaking of the books... The Books: I'm going to present an assortment of 24 books, none newer than '50s, only a couple post-code (but you will be glad they are here because you never see them in this shape), and certainly nothing with a cover price over 10 cents. This will NOT be a herd cull of museum-piece expensive books; its my first true GA-era cull so its the first cut. But it will include many tough, esoteric books. There will be romance/GGA, humor, Western, war, longjohns, PCH, even a Classic. Most of these I have never offered before; there will be just a few reruns that I think must have been missed in the past as I was surprised they did not go. First wins; tie/indeterminate goes to the thread. Many of these are tough to get comps on; if you think I am off on a book you want, reasonable PM's are welcome but I do not have room to accommodate lowballs on these; nothing was acquired on the cheap in bulk herein. Payment: Check or Money Order. Shipping: $7 for as many as I can fit into a Priority Legal Envelope (usually 7-10); medium flat rate box at $14 after that. Returns: Sure, just notify me within three days of receipt and get it back to me in the same shape received, on your dime. Don't be listy including the little one in my head. All books ship with custom-cut micro chamber paper inserted front and back.
  9. I guess you could say $50 is Ryan's rack rate for this book...
  10. I swear it's coming! But I keep having separation anxiety! You'll see what I mean.
  11. Ok, I've got all 24 books photographed and graded, so hopefully tonight. Mostly mid-grade and VG range books, but the most commonly-submitted book in the stack has 22 on census, so many may well be relative high-grade among the known population.
  12. Good grief! That's table-crushing generosity! @greggy
  13. Update....I have identified 24 books, begrudgingly...I put back almost the same number of candidates, but I may still switch some out. I think about 20-24 is all I can bring myself to part with currently. There will be only a couple re-runs among them, books I cannot believe got left on the boards once before. The mix will include some less common 50's books (a half dozen with only 1 on census, and a couple zeroes) and one or two books that I do not think have been offered on here before (to the best of our search function's ability to determine). We are not necessarily talking nosebleed books, mind you, so much as tough, esoteric books. Should be fun. But the line-up could still change before I shoot pix.
  14. I am working on my first-ever Golden Age barroom brawl...I mean, herd cull … from my collection. I intend to begin in the early part of this week, but deliberations are not easy. Nothing in this one will be easy stuff for me to part with, but I have a Chesler classic cover en route and a shot at another big target of mine later this week, so I am making some difficult decisions. Stay tuned...
  15. Whatever your new technique is, that All-Star looks amazing! I can clearly see the spine through the slab; great resolution.
  16. Ok, everybody sing along now.... "Boar-die books! Boar-die books! Nothin' like gettin' yourself some boardie books!" Big shout-out thank you to legendary boardie @oceans11 thank you so much Don for recalling I was looking for a True Life Secrets 23 and working out a deal with me! Big shout-out also to great new boardie @Miket123! Been wanting a Lois 106 for a while and this is a nice copy that was reasonably priced, well-packed and quickly shipped. WTTB and thank you @StingerMcK for recruiting him. The Kamandi 59 (last issue) is not a boardie book but an eBay purchase, but it finishes my read and release run. Of course, I read 'em then hem and haw for three years about releasing them.....
  17. Never seen that before. I'd read it out of curiosity.
  18. While I get the 2.5 take, this book will get the golden age curve as a Baker St. John. I go 3.5; maybe 3.0 on a bad day in Sarasota.
