  1. Sorry for any confusion, Claudio. I didn't mean to take away from my main point, which we seem to agree on. I don't have a DD115 or care to; I just remember the brief hype fest for it. I assume the seemingly strange timing vis a vis cover dates has to do with production schedules; DD I think was bi-monthly in that timeframe; timing to precede or even be concurrent with release of the book the ad was promoting was probably a bit challenging/inexact. Regardless of when it was released, it's not Wolverine's first appearance. I believe we are saying the same thing about house ads.
  2. It IS a cool ad; I wouldn't be surprised if it was an alternate cover illustration for 252. But it's not a first appearance because the character is not introduced into continuity, into the story universe that is, in this case, DC. It's a neat thing, maybe even worth a little more than surrounding "run" books for this reason (I bought one because of it) but it's not her first appearance in that it is not her debut into the serial illustrated fiction that is a comic book "universe." That's the standard. I have a My Greatest Adventure #79 in my collection because it mentions on the letters page that the next issue introduces "The Legion of the Strange," and if I one day sell it I will point out this fact because it is the reason it might be of interest to Doom Patrol collectors, but I do not expect anyone to pay for it more than a slight fraction of what #80 goes for. Yes, I'm aware of Malibu Sun #13, I have a couple somewhere; I'm happy to be able to sell them for much more than the cost of a Spawn #1, but a large group of Spawn completists driving a relatively scarce (compared to Spawn 1) preview does not change the rule for the hobby. It's a cool anomaly in the market, but it's not driving DD 115 past IH 181 anytime soon.
  3. Sweet grab, Scott. I dithered too long on whether to upgrade. Now can anyone tell me what in the world that Frankenstein #30 is still doing here??? Talk about a bargain-basement hen's tooth! If its not the toughest book in the run, it's in the top two.
  4. I'm thinking it also could mean that you can see everything you're supposed to see. I'm thinking of TOS 39 where sometimes the double quotation marks are partially missing along the right edge due to how it was cut, or Strange Tales 101, which is a bear to find with the entire issue # box present. Just a thought, though more often this sort of image issue on AF15 is along the left, where the lower corner of the A in amazing is sometimes wrapped around to the rear, etc.
  5. As a buyer, it would never occur to me that a simple courtesy of thank you could cause a seller a headache.
  6. Just in from a great boardie; thanks @Badger !
  7. This just in via a great boardie....thanks @Badger !
  8. This is a great book; I've got a couple copies somewhere. I need to dig them out and join.
  9. Weird fantasy skeletons to a nurse having a weird fantasy of her own, perhaps?

    Detective 395

Most underrated bronze Bat key, if not DC key, out there IMO. Also features a one-and-done immortal villain that hints of things to come.
  11. My pleasure; I knew you were looking for one, and Mike's a great boardie to buy from!
  12. I was surprised too; not quite as nice as the one that went for $355 a few months earlier, at least from what I could tell comparing pix of both. But it had blown past the previous copy price before I could put a bid in.
  13. Avengers 177 - culmination of the Korvac saga I'm sure a bajillion more will come back to me.... Thor 272 - story of Thor and Loki's childhood rivalry FF 191 - "Four no More" team breaks up FF 213 - Galactus vs the Sphinx; early Marvel cosmic level clash; well-done borderline copper, but DC Comics Presents #29 -- The Spectre humbles Superman
  14. MINE! Not only did she NOT throw them out, she made sure I had enough money to buy at least one after school every day, from kindergarten through grade school.
  15. Hit the "mark as sold" button upper right just above the first post.
  16. Cool book, welcome to the boards! FYI! You may want to check out the rules for sales threads, to avoid missing anything that gets your thread pulled by mods. (For one, you're supposed to state your return policy). Again, welcome to a great place! Also, I would think this book would do better over in the Gold/Silver/Bronze section; just a guess but I think more of the inclined eyeballs are perusing over there.
  17. If YOU haven't seen it either, that's saying something! I think 5 was Gerber's default when he wasn't sure, and he was probably low on this one.
  18. Stumbled across this on the bay and did a double-take. I don't recall seeing it before, but the little details are subtly Classic GGA -- the blonde's green dress already off one shoulder as she pulls it off the other, the look on her face, the look of shock on the nurse's face. The more I looked, the more I decided it was a gem sitting there. Gerber only gives it a 5 but there's none on the census. (Rex Morgan M.D. #1; nn inside).
  19. Looks to me like Kubert. He did some work for them in that period.
