GGA wearing Red: Archie, Baffling, FAC, Spirit
Readcomix replied to torontodesignguy's topic in Golden/Silver/Bronze Age Only
Every time I see that Crime Mysteries 5 I think of the silver/bronze sub-mariner series. At some point, there was a supporting character in there who was a blonde-haired red-skinned woman among all the blue Atlanteans. I forget her deal, but I keep thinking the artist was inspired by this book from his childhood. Anybody else recall the character I'm referring to? -
Okay, let's try wholesale -- buy the entire contents of this thread for $65 shipped in the U.S.! Gotta move them out and move on; perfect storm of potential purchases on the horizon, so anything that isn't essential to my collecting goals is fair game. I want to move these, not just close the thread, to offer a different thread.

Last lot, a Silver Age foursome for $25 shipped U.S. You get: The True Story of Smokey Bear FN, and a VG trio; Popeye the Sailor Bold Detergent giveaway, Blondie (with Beetle Bailey) from the Comics Reading Libraries series, and Tim Tyler's Luck (with Felix the Cat) also from Comics Reading Libraries. Remember, those last three were printed by Charlton, so chances are they are in off-the-press condition at VG!

First up is a lot of 11, most of which are not in the guide, and all are a part of the GE Adventures in Science series, with dates from 1948 to the late '50s. Apparently, there were different editions, as the slightly different colored issues of Adventures in Jet Power bear different dates. Most are mid-grade or better, except the one with apparent foxing, and the last three, which each had three holes punched, probably by some Nun for fastidious binder purposes, I'd guess. 11 golden age GE promotional comics of varying grade for (was $125) NOW $100 shipped U.S.

With apologies to Richard, but that thread is burned in memory....Anyway, up tonight is a few lots of promotional comics, recently acquired from the collection of one of the guys from Fantaco, which is kinda cool to know. Lots will be priced shipped U.S.; adjustments made for multiple lots; Canada at actual postage cost. Payment is Money Order or Check. Returns - Sure, just notify me in three days and get them back in the same shape on your dime, unless I missed something.

Flex, we don't know each other but I want to help, as I see lots of the boardies who have been so welcoming to me helping this cause. Let's offer a scarce pre-code romance book, Love Tales #50. Send the proceeds to Flex Mentallo for Roshni; U.S. Shipping is on me, elsewhere on buyer. Nice copy that would be mid-grade except for tape along the spine. One of the few signed Bill Everett romance stories is inside, featuring a hair-pulling catfight. $100 for Roshni. (Only one on eBay had a piece out of the back cover and went for $165).

@Martin Sinescu I knew a girl like that once, but that's a different story... I bet you made her dress up like Black Canary -

Yeah, but you're in Vegas. The Ethiopian market probably had a tattoo artist, strippers and an Elvis impersonator too. -

That's what I would think, but I have never scored comics in a record shop. Tried several. -

Geez, I dunno...I'm in the northeast, and I have no tattoos. Just comic books. But they certainly have gone from a bikers and sailors thing years ago to much more mainstream. -
With all due respect, the proper way to start this thread is to suggest that Our Army at War 83 and Adventure 247 are now boat anchor keys, then also throw in something from left field like any non- high grade (vagueness is essential here ) DD1 or Action 242. Then disappear for three weeks and watch it grow to 47 pages. Then pop back in when it slows down and say Sgt Fury 1. That will be good for another dozen pages on whether it's actually a key. That oughtta do it

A guy I know is opening one with a tattoo artist; books up front and parlor in the back.
