  1. It couldn't have been at CoC shops down there. I don't think anything is on their wall for $25. They are very proud of their books. If you have a shop in Central Fla. Ultramagnus, I may have been there at one time. I am actually in Ft. Lauderdale atm (not sure if I am allowed to mention shops) anybody that knows of Lauderhill should know "the shop" and I'm surprised I even got it for that price! Thing is...don't think Tate was in Would love to come by your shop sometime though PM me. Thanks
  2. VERY nice but the Dell'Otto and Manara ones are <3 <3 <3 I only have the Manara. I chose it over the JSC and have been sick about it ever since. Just picked up a Manara cover. I've been shopping around for a while. I think it's doing well on ebay and it is certainly a gorgeous cover composition. Luckily I found one for an even 25 bucks at a shop on vacation in Fla. Great book though...I was prepared to pay 40'ish if I could not find one.
  3. BTW thank you for everyone that had an opinion and made the effort to respond. I do appreciate it and have no beef with anyone here...even if they are scrutinizing. It's all good!
  4. why do so many people get confused, (or in past cases extremely butt hurt) in this thread, whenever an actual discussion occurs. It is not the "books for cheerleading thread" If the thread is called, "books that are heating up", then people should discuss whether or not a book is heating up or not. When so many people post books which are clearly NOT heating up, but which they either want to heat up, or others have told them are going to heat up, they should not be surprised, or shocked, or offended, that people might actually question saying: "are you sure thats heating up?" "here are some sales that seem to point otherwise". Ultimately, its either a dont ask dont tell thread, where people only cheerlead for books to go up up and away, or its a discussion thread about what is heating up, and that involves both sides of the discussion, for the books that are mentioned. Lastly, i wasnt scrutinizing the book, though legitimately curious WHY it was brought up in this thread (where it clearly does not belong). I wouldn't go as far as "it doesn't belong". It was a legit question considering what was being discussed at the moment. I think people are confusing "the book" with the quest for "better understanding". I don't care about the book. Like I said...there's lots out there to spend my hard earned money on . This is still being talked about in this thread...obviously for there own reasons. I asked for an opinion for my own reasons. Nobodies right or wrong and it's obviously a hot book anyway seeing as how there all gone.
  5. Very good points. I also do not worry about this or any other book going up because I mentioned it...there's so much out there. It's really only one example of something I have mild interest in and these opinions are more valuable to me than the book.
  6. that is an odd book to bring up, I showed pictures of it a couple weeks ago in the Wild thread, what made you bring up this book? I did not see it in the wild thread. I have brought up this particular book because I do not usually spend over 50 bucks for a nice raw book. I am a long time collector but new to the whole variant thing. There are a few other issues I'm interested in...though this was the best example I can make. I'm interested in people (with knowledge) honest views on this type of buy.
  7. Thoughts on a forgot on variants that could heat up again... Ms. Marvel 1 Turner variant. There was a sketch and color version. It is a vol.2 first issue so not really a key is any sense. Is a book like this a good buy at close to a bill? Welcoming any and all opinions and suggestions on other books. I know a little something but have made many "dumb" buys. Meaning I tend to pay a premium when something is already starting to buzz.
  8. Yup...that's Seven Romans. One of he's most regal pieces!
  9. My theory as a collector of many, many years? People are coming to there senses and realizing it's absurd to pay 1700.00 for a modern variant. ...of any character.
  10. Thor 337? It's a joke, based on issues he has in quantity. Oh DAMN....I'm slow!!! me too, was only on my 2nd cup of coffee when I posted Let's not say anymore...maybe the "sheeple" will see Thor 337 and not read the rest of the post. It will be on "the other sites" top 10 by end of week!!!
  11. Crazy thing is? Most of his stuff is horrible and that's what makes it so interestingly different. A true artist...for breaking out of the mainstream style of the time.
  12. Thor 337? It's a joke, based on issues he has in quantity. Oh DAMN....I'm slow!!!
  13. Ummmmm...I believe any book with a different price is a price "variant" Hence a different price on the cover and barcode.
  14. Wow! So many great pics here. Really glad I stopped by! The whole jungle action series. Especially the Clan issues. McGregor and Graham were my bronze dream team man!
  15. This is probably as close to the truth as your going to get. Me...? I would love to have that in a 9.8 not to mention an entire run! I would keep it! It's a fun story with nice art. I don't think it's peaked yet...but that can go either way. I'm not an investor but I buy...so I know a little something.
  16. Can there be a separate thread where people can argue about staying power? I think heating up doesn't have to mean that its going to stay hot. I only rarely come look at this thread where I used to look regularly. It is so much fighting that the thread is near useless You could try to contribute instead Just a thought No...he's right. Just a thought
  17. Comin' right up! I'm glad that this has been spoken about. Honestly it is one of the big reasons I do not like to post sometimes...and I'm new.
  18. Thank you for the ideas and opinions about Black Cat/She-Hulk. A lot of good points were made...and yeah my problem is that they are common as dirt.
  19. Looking for some opinions. 1st Black Cat or 1st She-Hulk? I know there seems to be more heat on BC but who is the better long term investment or book with more growth?? Thanks
  20. Because a person, anchored in reality, has given their OPINION. I see.... Regardless of CBT's staunch anti-CBSI stance, I don't think you can ignore that being featured on the CBSI website does have quite a significant effect on a comic's availability and ebay pricing. Alas, there's no way to tell if the increase in demand and price is due to collectors, investors or speculators. If majority of the folks driving up prices are just investors/speculators and there's no genuine market demand to sustain high prices, then what you have is just a house of cards. I can say as a reader, collector, and genuine fanboy. I cannot keep up with what's hot and what's not. Sooooooo...I follow the site as a reference to what is out there. See, this is an interesting conundrum. If you care about what's hot and what's not and maintaining value/price, there's an element of investment in your collecting (just with a more buy and hold mentality). Nothing wrong with that but as with buying individual stocks, risk is higher and there are winners and losers (likely more losers than winners). I find there's a lot more posts in the moderns forum regarding what issues/variants are heating up or cooling down on ebay than there is discussion of what's actually good (to read). AGREED! I do collect and I like to collect things of value or that have potential to be so. So yes..that is correct. Like some people collect cars. Or collect Ferrari. Pride in value and desirability. It's hard to keep up. I use the advise of this forum as well.

  22. Your a good contributer. Don't want you to get hate mail and I'm to new to get on anybodies *poop* list! lmao
  23. One book on the list is over 10 years old. Not a long track record by any means. Modern collectors collect all kinds of different things but stories are the glue that make them last. "Long" is a relative term. Is it as old as Bronze or Copper? No, but there is a different market for different era's of books. To just shrug Moderns aside due to age is shortsighted. This sums it up pretty well. Totaly different market. People do not read anymore and if print numbers were as high as they were in the bronze and copper? Moderns would be worthless. That's why I consider rarity now. It keeps collecting alive for me. I've evolved with the times and I'm OK with it. Don't get me wrong...I miss the good ol days! I still read a lot of books though way fewer of the big 2 than what I once did. It feel like we're having another good old days in storytelling and art, especially with companies like Image and Dark Horse. Do you guys think they will quit selling comic stories and maybe just go to art prints some day soon ? This isn't a rhetorical question. I'm truly curious why if people are collecting covers as art, why put a story between the pages ? I certainly need to break out of my bubble! I rely to much on the big two and really have to start giving the others a chance. I have enough trouble sometimes keeping up with all the damn reboots and feminized characters...my head is spinning!!!
