  1. You are correct and post deleted to avoid confusion.
  2. I wonder who got the chop shop going on the velum?
  3. A great one has left us.Condolences to his wife Carol. I understand there will be a memorial service at Megacon Orlando 6pm Sunday, May 22nd. RIP 😢
  4. I remember a reaction to 🌎 in Motion as “that song is bloody aces!” and I thought, I’m not from the UK but I think he’s saying it’s a great song. I’m certain this embarrassing dreadful dirge is far from that. But Terry I did like some of the stuff 🎵 post 🌎 so..... 🛑 Oh, and of course wow so many great pieces of art keep popping up may be another record breaker!!! 😂
  5. You could invest in all the Garfield strips with that much money.
  6. I can’t go with you there. But unlike some crazy people who are one or the other,... I love them both. I’m happy that the brutal loss of Ian didn’t silence the creativity of the other lads. Good on you though we have some real musicologists on the board 🎶 So before we get canceled for talking music on the OA, does anyone know of a comic book with art that covers Joy Division or New Order?
  7. Joy Division? Let it be known from this day forward, in grapeApe, you have a new brother, for life. Let it be known, cross ye not the one they call noble comix4fun, lest ye care to face the wrath of mighty 🍇 🦍.....
  8. Paul Reinman Merrie Chase "Marijuana Molly" Daily Comic Strip Original Art Group (McNaught Syndicate, c. 1950). Offered here are four near-consecutive dailies from Paul Reinman's little seen strip (it only ran in 1950-51), dated 4-25, 4-26, and 4-27, and 4-29 (year unknown). Note the character named "Marijuana Molly." Each strip has an image area of 18.75" x 5.5", and they average Very good condition. From the Joe Simon Estate. These sold as a group for approx $450 in 2013. Tough to find examples or comps on Merrie Chase. Couldn’t find Hubbell. These appear well created though.
  9. I’m with you on the pre 2021 pricing. Believe me my guesstimate is based more on the fever that seems to have overridden reasoned FMV in many purchases, than on what I personally would value the page at. Internally I still have a FMV clock that disallows me from paying these prices. This is fascinating to experience though. We’ll find out. Some really great stuff in this auction.
  10. Very worthy and I love Chic Stone on Kirby Thor. What an auction!!
  11. What do you think it might finish at? Definitely can argue under, no Bane in costume etc. My $40k guess is based on who might be chasing the page and factoring in the overheated bidding we’ve seen.
  12. Very ambitious flips. For you new collectors jumping in there are ways to at least get a sense of what’s fair to pay. Heritage Auctions has a complete inventory of every original art page that they’ve sold. Sign up and do a search of the most recent sales of like pages or even find the page you’re considering to buy and what it last sold for. Sometimes dealers leave the price up on a sale but rarely. I’ve also been able to sometimes find eBay sales. The point is I know everyone from dealers to collectors like to sell for more than they paid. Human nature. But there is no worse feeling than buying a page and finding out you paid $424 when it sold for $93 recently. It makes you feel cheated. Do your homework!!! 🍇 + 🦍
  13. The first time Bane hears of Batman. Some thoughts. Will the same buyer of page 45 bid on this page? Bane not in costume but definitely a significant page. My guess is it has enough historical significance that it ends around $40,000.
  14. You know it all comes from jealousy and poverty. Jealous because I don’t even own a Snoopy sketch. Poverty= the reason 😂
  15. *(1) Neal Adams said, “I wouldn’t call what Jack does anatomy. He does an impressionistic thing and he does it because he pencils very fast and he’s a storyteller.” ”What you get is the impressionistic quality that is in many ways superior to someone who draws realistically the way I do.” *(2) Neal said further,” I brought a quality to comic books. Jack made comic books. There’s just no comparison.” ”Jack created worlds. Universes.” * The Jack Kirby Collector #17 There are certain pages, or even books Neal created where my jaw drops and I say,” I’ve never seen anything prettier, more striking. That’s the Neal Adams affect. But for the reasons Neal mentions, Kirby rings the bell for me on both questions. I prefer Kirby’s art for his impressionistic style. He deconstructs normal anatomy, creates gods, monstrosities..... I love the fact there are so many people who actually don’t have a taste for Kirby. You might think I’m exaggerating but they’ll be coming with the comments. Reminds me of many amateur art critics that would point to a Jackson Pollack and say, “anyone could do that.” I love them both. But Neal knew that Jack was very special. On the second question I agree with Neal again. I could’ve just posted the JKC #17 article, but he essentially pointed out that nearly all of Marvel IS KIRBY. As for DC, if they’d known how to support Jack when he came over, would’ve been 80% of how we remembered DC. Neal even scoffed at the amount of praise he’s been given over the years for innovations he supposedly invented. He pointed to zipatone usage as something he borrowed from the EC artists but has been singularly praised for as the innovator. I’m going to stop here because honestly, I can’t help but think of how boring DC would’ve been without someone like Neal Adams. And when he appeared anywhere for Marvel it seemed like a special treat. More importantly from a human side, Neal has family, loved-ones, friends and fans like myself who are truly sad that he passed away. I’m ok if someone else feels Adams is superior on either question. My heart really isn’t in to arguing passionately about this. I can honestly say I’m grateful to Jack Kirby and to Neal Adams for their special talent and contributions to the world of comics and art. RIP
  16. What the heck does Nostradamus know anyways? Now that I know you got it I'm pleased. I get it. Things cost what they cost right now. It's still whiplash inducing witnessing some of the flips we've been seeing of late. Though I speculate and goof on some of the ambitious sellers out there. I am the first to understand that if you own it, you can sell it for whatever price you can get. Enjoy the page Xatari and don't mind the drive by musings.
  17. So many legendary covers and pages. Here’s one that might not be the first to come to mind but was always my favorite. Rest In Peace Neal.
  18. I’ll give it 10 Rocky one hand behind the back push ups and 👍 👍 Fonzy leather jacket wearing “Heyyyyyyyyys!!”
  19. ⬆️ $200,000 (2-1) ⬇️ $200,000 (Even) Vegas Vic ♠️♠️♠️🎱🎩
  20. RIP. Neal Adams. Your style was unique and recognizable, making you a true original creator. 🦇MAN 🍇 + 🦍 😢
  21. Nostradamus — “This ebay purchase will be listed in the Marketplace or on a Dealer Website for $22,500..... in the very near future... maybe within 30 days.”
  22. I met Darwyn at the DC Booth SDCC maybe 2002-2003. He did a Batman and a Superman drawing for my little brothers. He was a wonderful guy. If you sell, insist upon this being included in the signature auction. It belongs. I think if you auction the Ditko HA would agree to include this one. Im a huge Will Eisner guy. I think he would appreciate the mood captured here on this Noirtastic cover. You can also PM me if you have specific questions about evaluations or just what’s been going on the last few years of the market. It’s a sellers market so the more people get to see your collection, the better your chance to get maximum pay out. grape + ape
  23. The Ditko page is a beautiful example. I’m as certain as I can be that would do very well at auction. Would love to see a pic of the Cooke TPB but combined value might get both in a signature auction for the most exposure. The Ditko page for sure is a signature auction page. HA would take your other pieces valued $1k etc and list those in the weekly auctions. They can perform well there but decide what you’re going to keep and offer the rest to HA at once. Try to make a case for the Cooke getting into the signature auction with the Ditko. I wish I’d bought a Creeper page like you did ten years ago. $3k is a bargain when you admire the quality of the artwork. Well stop “Creeping” around the chat board and post more. Even if you’re not buying anymore it’s always nice to share back and forth about original art. I wish you 💰 for retirement Cheers 🍇 + 🦍
