I would have assumed at minimum HA would take the precaution of signature confirmation. Hold and pickup should always be an option when the recipient can’t be home to receive packages. It’s not like they are delivering bottle caps. This is one of a kind irreplaceable art.

Yeah it’s an interesting question for someone wading in. My thinking is this. Fine art eats it’s own. Basquiat is a genius in my opinion. Most artists find fame long after they’re gone. There are circles of sycophants and prudes that decide what is art. Better for the individual human to find art with their own eyes and heart. If you’re going to stay collecting art start looking for what pieces make you go wow!! Theres a thread here on all the comic art dealers and CAF is a great site. 1) you can view 1000’s of personally collected art pages 2) links to dealers 3) members selling their art Good luck!!!

OA= comic art? Is it recognized by the fine art community? Depends on who you talk to. I see crossovers all the time. That is their are certain artists that have created pieces that transcend a category and could-should be admired by “art” lovers period I care very little for snobbish attitudes in any community. I get that we all to some degree categorize art and have opinions of what’s great what’s mediocre and what down right stinks. But to ignore art because it “doesn’t measure up to fine art standards—-violates the instincts of mankind. Love art for arts sake. What moves you? Why does it move you? There are threads that have mentioned crossover art communities see Roy Lichtenstein, Frank Frazetta and more. Welcome to CGC. Most criticisms here are meant to better the conversation. They did finally print the Ditko AF cover for ASM 700. I dig it don’t get me wrong. Ditko Spidey my favorite all time.

Jacks was the more impressive cover in my opinion. It is fitting that the king of comics introduced the worlds greatest superhero on the debut cover while the perfect Ditko weaved the most incredible interior pages of a debut hero I’ve ever seen. See Library of Congress and drool (not on the pages.)

John gets bored easily. Maybe a blessing in disguise.

I’d still take his original AF 15 or Strange Tales Annual 2 cover though.

Gil Kane will always be associated with The Death of Gwen Stacy. i like John Byrne from your list. I was just flipping through ASM 189 beautiful and with an outstanding cover. I really also enjoyed his early issues on Spider-Man Chapter 1.
