Thanks Foggy! It was a labor of love, first, collecting the run, and second, posting all the books to amuse and inspire Planet collectors old and new.
It has been a great ride. It also makes me want to remember the details of my own journey... I have enjoyed reliving my own hunt through your sharing.
This reminds me why I collect and why this is THE greatest hobby in the world!
So, thank you for taking the time to share.

Truth is I really had a good year in Golden Age Awesomeness, I got a great deal on a Ghost 6, a Junior 15, a Phantom Lady 13, and some other amazing books. But, I keep coming back to this Planet Comics #2. High Grade 1940 book that is just beautiful! As with many of the books I got this year I feel like I was just super lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time (with my wallet open).
The purple label seems to make some books affordable – sometimes...
I got this Purple Label Of Discount for half what I was willing to pay (seemed like there were no serious bidders at the time) and probably 5% (or 1% - we will see) of what the Church copy will go for. Also, I have never seen what I presume to be “Professional” restoration. A-3: A for Excellent quality materials and 3 for moderate amount. I can see the spine seal but the rest I can't find or is just inside the book. It's funny, the edges trimmed probably bothers me the most – I really don't know why. Anyway, I find the restoration process to be quite the art form in and of itself. I just love looking at this book.
So this is my Book of 2018!

I would say my 2 are these.
I have been trying to acquire a Ghostly Weird 122 for YEARS. I never seem to find the book for sale, so when this copy came up I snagged it.
I am cheating a little on my second choice the Planet 24 page I acquired from the John Berk auction I got it professionally framed this year. The Planet 24 cover is a high resolution print from a scan of my copy of the book, the interior page is a print as well. Framed under conservation glass to protect it from light sources.
**honorable mention: upgrade for Planet Comics 29.
That frame is SO what I would want if I ventured into original art... you are seriously tempting me towards a new obsession.

What decade is prime purchasing power.. 30s, 40s or 50s?
40's is when "household" spending peaks on disposables (example: most Dorito's purchased by household, stuff like that), then in the 50's kids start to leave the house and the need for a hobby many at this time rediscover comics and ramp up spending...
that's the way I see it.

Your post kind of inferred it was PC 15, which is why I checked it out.
sorry 'bout the confusion... but in the end I am still trying to understand why "that" issue is so rare? I feel like there must be a reason. I am hoping a discussion will reveal something.

wherever I read this did not suggest it was Planet 15 that had the Radar story but another FH book at the same time...
this would also suggest that there are other books from FH at the same time that are just as rare...

This is a great and romantic theory...if only it were true I fear it's just some urban myth. I've just been thru' the whole book and there is nothing in any of the stories that even hints at RADAR. I even checked the text story out too. As regards the reason why it's so scarce, I don't know but it could be something simple like paper shortages. The war was raging, the book would have hit the stands in approx. Sept/Oct 41 for the Nov. edition, and even tho' the USA were not involved at that point, paper shortages worldwide would surely have been kicking in.

So, I have a question for all the Planet geeks,
Why is Planet 15 (and maybe 14) so scarce? I read somewhere (on the internet right?) that someone estemates there are only 50-250 total... I don't know how someone might know that...
I have read a couple of theories but I don't remember where... That Fiction House had a story that predicted fairly accuratly how RADAR worked. And as a new tech the government asked FH to not distribute that book and thus FH ended up destroying that months "entire" group of books... I am wondering if there is any credibility to this account or if there is another explaination for the relative rarety of Planet 15?

I set up as far away as I comortably can and use the zoom on my camera (6ft or so). then if I need a flash the angle to miss the glare is minimal...
