  1. I read around the web and found it on a website - can't remember which one, but it seemed reliable and so I shared it.
  2. Four of each of the 15 editions coming 10 October 2018 - 60 comics in total - as follows and in the following proportions - Coloured (1:2 / 50% chance), Coloured virgin (1:4 / 25%), Sketch (15%), Sketch virgin (1:10 / 10% chance).
  3. AMC’s mini series The Walking Dead: Red Machete has received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Short Form Comedy or Drama Series. The digital series follows the path of a red-handled machete from its innocent beginnings on a hardware store shelf at the start of the apocalypse, as it lands in the hands of survivors good and evil, familiar and new. There are six (short) episodes, and you'll find them all on YouTube - worth a watch. The Primetime Emmys will be awarded Monday, 17 September 2018.
  4. Yes. I think we all did. I have simply re-ordered x3 132s from my mail order comic shop.
  5. I have three copies of each of the 15 on order, 45 total. Lots more slabbing fees lie ahead..... In a perfect world, I'd get a trade, a sketch and a virgin of each. But that probably won't happen.
  6. Would it be a good idea for CGC to link up the grading department to the registry so that all graded comics are directly added? There should be no need for collectors to have to make requests like this each month. #justsaying
  7. As a relatively new collector, particularly of older comics, I have read the recent posts on this thread re Marvel Chipping / MC with interest. Thank you all for sharing your views. It prompted me to look for a proper definition of MC, and having found it, though it may be of interest to post it here for other newbies / everyone. Apologies for taking your time to everyone who already knows this... What is Marvel Chipping? "Marvel Chipping is a bindery (trimming / cutting) defect that results in a series of chips and tears at the top, bottom, and right edges of the cover, caused when the cutting blade of an industrial paper trimmer becomes dull. The flaw bears the name “Marvel” because it can be seen most frequently on Silver Age Marvel books. Although not restricted to Marvel books, the defect can also occur with any company’s comic books from the late 1940s through the middle 1960s. Some comic grading experts also blame poor paper quality." Best wishes Stephen
  8. Here's my view on the ASM #14. It depends how much you want it. If it was your lifelong dream (or yearlong dream) to own this comic, keep it. If the grade matters, keep it as it is. If the case matters more, get it re-holdered (accepting the re-grading risk). If the whole thing matters rather less, send it back for a refund. eBay always sides with buyers in cases like this. Then use the refund money buy another comic. I feel for the seller in instances like this as I believe you do, but (using only your interpretation) it seems they were the author of their own misfortune. Un-necessary bother/expense/heartache for both of you. I'm sorry this happened. Good luck whatever you decide to do.
  9. Survival Sunday: So are we all ready for tonight's TWD season 8 finale "Wrath", where (officially) the communities join forces in the last stand against the Saviors as all-out war unfolds. Then straight into the FTWD season 4 premier "What's Your Story?" where (it is alleged) Morgan, other TWD cast as well as some new cast will show up to join Madison, Nick and Alicia. Perhaps that is what that helicopter is for... its a long way for Morgan to walk from Washington to Texas/New Mexico...
  10. I posted the original thread. I was browsing eBay for TWD comics, and came across this one. The rest is just the magic of a great forum :-)
  11. Hi bigclutch. After all the love we've shared on this book, I'm sure we'd all love to see some photos of the inside front cover (or wherever the print details are shown) and some of the insides. Thanks in anticipation. Regards, Stephen
  12. I see I opened a real can of worms with my original post... oops. Sorry. But interesting thread nevertheless. #Love TWD
  13. Here's a TWD I've not seen before - Fear Fest Horror Con, Ohio 2004, LE100: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Walking-Dead-1-PGX-9-8-NM-MT-RARE-2003-Museum-Edition-Variant-20-100-Like-CGC/162941121975?epid=86556521&hash=item25f00c35b7:g:4K0AAOSwGGlapaUC
  14. Hi Ray, In my experience, you'll need to break this collection up into singles to sell them at the highest price. I am a buyer, and use eBay often to build up my collection. It has always worked well for me, but I'm almost always a buyer (very little selling experience - non-payment? late-payment?). As a seller, you can choose 1, 3, 5, 7 or 10 day-length auctions so you could sell quite quickly there. I'd be pleased to hear from you if you had some of these you wished to sell, and I could provide my 'wanted' list. According to the CGC Registry, I already have 41% of these, so cannot consider taking them all. To summarise, it is the same was as selling beer or tinned tomatoes - the buyer always gets a discount when they buy a four-pack (or a 171-pack) instead of singles. Good luck! Regards Stephen
  15. I'm quite new to CGC (joined 2/15/2017), but I'm finding collecting comics fascinating (and addictive). I'd love to win a CGC award in the future, and will be looking for an opportunity for same. Thank you for this news on the 2018 awards. Regards Stephen
  16. Dear CGC, I have recently had a big box of 'The Walking Dead' (Image / Skybound) returned to me, and this caused me to look closely at the registry scores for this comic. There are a few (six in particular) that I feel should be reviewed based on the 400 points allocated to the #94 Convention Sketch Edition. This seems about right based on its scarcity and price to buy. Please look at: #115 Variant N (maybe 200 for Universal 9.8?) #127 Diamond Retailer (as rare as #94 Convention Sketch = 400) #144 Convention Sketch (as above = 400?) #150 Retailer Appreciation (maybe 100 for Universal 9.8?) #171 Pink Lorenzo (maybe 100 for Universal 9.8?) Here's Negan preview #nn (LE500 only from Image Blind Box LE1992, always sells for high price $250-300+ in raw condition. 400 points? Thank you and regards Stephen
  17. I did read somewhere about the price rise, so I'm sure it's here to stay. I do like the Year 15 variant covers too (are they doing 12, one for each month, anyone know?). I'm looking forward to the s8 mid-season premiere in just over a week's time, and until then, enjoying catching up on FTWD s3 on Christmas gift DVDs which I had not seen. I'm sure Kirkman said there would be "300" TWD comic issues a while back. Has that ever been reconfirmed or updated? I was pleased to see that TV s9 was now confirmed.
  18. I'm with Ryan. I like it that CGC has given TWD collectors choice. ? to CGC from ??
  19. Can I join the AF15 club with my CGC NG SS page 7? Does anyone else like The Bellringer story :-)
  20. I am interested in purchasing The Walking Dead (TWD) comics CGC-slabbed at 9.8+. I have all of the First and Second Printings, so interested in Variants, Convention editions, Wizard World editions and similar. I also like CGC Signature Series TWD slabs in any grade. I would especially like one of the x11 slabbed or x14 raw editions out there of TWD #116, Third Printing. Also, I'd love to acquire a Here's Negan Preview Sketch Edition (LE25, from the LE1992 Image 25th Anniversary Blind Box). Feel free to PM me if you have one or both of these you'd consider selling. Regards Stephen
  21. Thanks everyone, and especially bababooey for the additional links. Is there no-one big enough on here (i.e.who sells enough) to press eBay to deal with and rectify this? There are certainly enough people apparently unhappy. It could impact all of us at some point, and it MUST be in our mutual interest to correct it. And if Pitney Bowes are collecting 'tax' but not handing it over to the government as is alleged herein, surely this is a crime. It certainly would be in my country.
  22. I am a new collector of comics based in the UK, and find that many of the 'best ones' are located in / for sale from the US. I have bought some privately, and some on eBay. The Global Shipping Programme (GSP) irritates me enormously, as it automatically adds import fees to all purchases, when comics including their (CGC) cases are legally duty free into the UK. I have researched the subject, and have passed my findings to eBay (who have done nothing with it yet - as at 1 February 2017). I hope US seller and UK buyers might find this helpful to sellers and cost-saving to buyers: For comics to arrive in the UK tax and duty free, they must first be sold outside of the GSP (which eBay allows so long as the seller agrees). Packages must be marked "Printer matter - comic book/s. Tariff code 4902900000". For those that like additional reading, this is set out in Notice 701/10, Schedule 8, Group 3 (books including cases). Regards Stephen
