  1. Yep. Obviously a well known collector.
  2. Yep. This page especially is probably the holy grail for Infinity Gauntlet related OA, aside from the cover to SS 44. BTW, a guy just posted this on a Facebook group.
  3. I think it would push 5 figures. Literal second appearance of the Inifity Gauntlet after the cover. Classic Thanos half-splash, historic Page. If put up NOW, would draw a lot of attention with the movie coming out.
  4. Oh yes, there are decent Wrightson pages available in that range.
  5. This discussion is all academic to me anyway. I have a $1000 limit on art purchases. There have been a couple I was tempted on above that number, but even in those cases, it was still maxed out in the $2.5K range. If I ever spend 5 digits on a piece, I'm going for a quality Bolland Dredd page. Side note: How much would this page from Silver Surfer 44 go for?
  6. A Spider visible on Peter's chest isn't the same as, say, Clark Kent with an "S" on his chest showing through an open shirt. The latter is a much more iconic image.
  7. Give me this Gil Kane cover to ASM 151 any day. One of my favorites. https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/gil-kane-and-john-romita-sr-amazing-spider-man-151-cover-original-art-marvel-1975-/a/7137-92179.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515
  8. What's funny is that the earliest Romita Spidey pages are where he's aping Ditko's style more. He later evolves, obviously. And he just can't bring himself to draw women like Ditko.
  9. Well, sure. It could be this page, which only sold for $30K. https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/john-romita-sr-amazing-spider-man-43-story-page-14-original-art-marvel-1966-/a/7163-93196.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515
  10. Classic example of what I'm talking about. This sold for $30K last May. https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/john-romita-sr-amazing-spider-man-43-story-page-14-original-art-marvel-1966-/a/7163-93196.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515 Nutty.
  11. Now that the real cover has surfaced, that re-creation has to go down in value, right?
  12. This Peter-out-of-costume, Aunt May dominant panel page (admittedly the Goblin appears in one panel) went for 40K in 2015. It's from ASM #39, so somebody paid a premium for the cache of having a page from a Key book. https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/john-romita-sr-and-mike-esposito-amazing-spider-man-39-page-17-green-goblin-original-art-marvel-1966-/a/7152-92199.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515
  13. I'm sure you're right. The cover to ASM 121 sold in 2013 for $289k. Fair. https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/john-romita-sr-amazing-spider-man-121-the-night-gwen-stacy-died-cover-original-art-marvel-1973-/a/7073-92254.s?ic4=GalleryView-ShortDescription-071515 And a 100 cover re-creation sold in 2011 for $77,675. https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/john-romita-sr-the-amazing-spider-man-100-cover-re-creation-original-art-1994-/a/7036-92223.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515
  14. I'd rather than have Batman #1, New 52 Capullo Cover than one of those $50K Romita panel Pages.
  15. I get that. But I still think Romita run of the mill Spidey art, is overvalued. The Key stuff is valuable, but that's because it's KEY. IMHO. I think that particular niche market is being driven by a few collectors.
  16. The Spidey 39 cover, I can see going for $250K. It's an all-time classic, and would go at a premium no matter who the artist was. If Herb Trimpe drew it, it would be a classic. Not the Spidey 100 cover, though. It's only "value" IMHPO is that it's a Romita cover. Totally boring and pedestrian, otherwise
  17. Didn’t say it shouldnt command good prices. But the current level is crazy, IMHO, and unsustainable. Ditko Spidey, to me, is the Hobby gold standard.
  18. Mike said essentially "He turned down my $250K offer, and I'm now glad he did, because ....." That's a market signal that a major potential buyer is not willing to pay that much for the piece. That effects it's value.
  19. The only iron rule I can see is that you are not allowed to name the big time players, and can only refer to them obliquely, or by their initials, when you are talking of their exploits, or their pieces.
  20. This piece goes to my whole "John Romita Spider-Man art is overvalued" argument. That this cover would go for $300K, or even $250K, is silly to me. But, I suppose if there are two or 3 hobbyists willing to pay that kind of coin for this stuff (and they are not close to retirement or death), anyone who has these pieces should cash in now, while they can.
  21. Another artist whose intricate line work must be appreciated in person is James Stokoe. http://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1402822 Not the best photo, unfortunately.
  22. No. The Kingpin above Spidey is a Stat. Look closely. They wanted to move Kingpin up either to make him more prominent, or to add the banner and not wanting to cover his face. Not only that, you can see the glue residue from the missing banner. What happened to it?
  23. Don’t think many of us knew for certain where they were, though.
  24. FWIW, a guy just posted photos of the X-Men 25 Kubert pages where Magneto rips Wolverine’s adamantium out of his body on Facebook - hangin on his wall.
