I appreciate it! Especially since your not an SS guy as well. It’s surely special.

DST- Are you sure that’s not a VF?? Seriously, that 5.0 is smokin!!!!! Congrats man. You deserve it.

Haha I wish...I will say it sure is a pretty 5.0 though, very excited about it!  I really appreciate it, Dan!  And I echo the sentiments about your SS, what a truly special book to have, cheers!

  2. Despite the majority of my offers not receiving a response within the 72 hour window, I still continue to try acquiring books via this method.  My problem is I usually make offers on books where the auction ended years ago, so the winner may not even have the books anymore.  I do this so that the minimum offer (which accounts for the 19.5 percent buyers premium on top of the sold for price) works out to right around or just over current GPA prices.  Nevertheless I’ve been fortunate enough to have 4 offers accepted, and in each case the turnaround time to getting the book in hand has been about 2-3 weeks.

  3. Mid Grade Silver Age Mega Key sent for WALKTHRU PCR:

4/23/18:  Received by CGC, logged in and sent to CCS

    4/24/18:  Received at CCS

    4/25/18:  Invoice sent by CCS

    4/26/18:  Credit Card charged

    5/11/18:  Still showing at CCS...

Not sure if the turnaround time is from when the book is received or when my credit card was charged. Either way we are over 8 business days.  Hopefully next week the book gets graded.

I arrived to NYC today (probably my favourite city in the world) and had this beauty waiting for my at the hotel. I have been chasing a #2 for months, and decided to pull the trigger on this one. Well I now know who I am sleeping with tonight, lol. I will post a proper scan when I get the chance. Tomorrow morning I am hitting some comic shops!

I have many PMs asking for the boardies name but for now I will keep it private. If I end up nominating him for the PL list everyone will find out. I really don’t want to have to go that route so hopefully he will make good on the offer I proposed.

Jeff, you are one of the most stand up boardies I've come across and I'm really sorry this situation is happening right now.  From what I can tell I don't see that you did anything wrong.  From my own personal experience, whenever I've brokered deals for a 3rd party I've always taken responsibility when things have gotten complicated and I feel thats what they should have done here.  This guy really needs to be accountable for the situation he facilitated, and deal with his friend on his own.  From where I stand, you shouldn't even be part of the equation anymore.  You jjust tried to be fair and give this guy a good deal like you always do.  If they don't accept your more than fair proposed offer to get them off the hook, then PL is definitely the way to go.  And kudos to the boardie who stepped up after reading this thread and offered to buy the books and sell them at their next con!

  7. RE: Back Cover scans

Completely agree that it would certainly be convenient if ComicLink automatically posted back cover scans with their auction listings.  However, every time I've REALLY been interested in a book (which has been quite a bit), I just message their "buysell" email address and they've gotten me a back cover scan within a few hours.  The only thing is it has to be for a current active auction.  Whenever I've asked for a scan of an auction that hasn't started yet I've been told that the auction hasn't been sorted so they'll get back to me.  Point is, all it takes is a quick email and you can see what you're bidding on...

  8. Not to flame or troll or discourage participation on the boards, but does this book really deserve a club?  You’ve got a great looking book there, don’t get me wrong, you should definitely show it off.  But... couldn’t you just have posted this in the “Fantastic Four Collecting Thread” and/or “What’s New in your Silver Age Collection this week”?  2c

  9. Just completed a partial trade deal for a 4-figure book.  The cash portion was paid right on time and the books were well packaged and beautiful.  Communication was friendly and easy.  An all-around seamless transaction.  Would do business with again anytime; highly recommend for both buying and selling!  Thanks again!
