  1. Yea that is one thing the boards and to some extent eBay are good for because 20 years ago one's chance of finding the random centerfold you needed would seem to be like a needle in a haystack. I have been trying to put together a More Fun run in really low grade and need to go to the "Lets get married" board and see if anyone there can offer some help.
  2. Thanks, I had heard 10 %, but it is hard to really even know what the good price is when so few sell. I could find out I suppose by throwing it in an auction and seeing what the market will do with it but then.....I don't have it any more!
  3. Agreed, that is why I am hesitant to slab them.
  4. OK this one, legit grail by just about anyone's definition, scarce, Gerber 7, All-American Comics 16. Also anyone want to chime in about ideas of value? Very few sold, could not find record of a Coverless ever selling but I am sure a few have. A beat Coverless All Star 8 sold a little while back for just under $10,0000 and the book has traditionally been much more expensive. Don't know if that means anything today though. Any help is sure welcome.
  5. This is one where i like the splash more than the cover. Not saying I would turn down a cover bough if anyone has an extra just sort of sitting there gathering dust. Sub-Mariner Comics 4
  6. This one I think is closer to grail quality. Marvel Mystery Comics 5. Hard to find, first Schomberg cover, does it still count as a grail if the cover was the part that made it classic and the cover is gone?? I like it regardless .
  7. Also not a grail but the opening splash with the Spectre I always thought was really cool. This is a More Fun 59
  8. Don't think this is a grail but it is a GA first appearance, Coverless and beat up but still enjoy having it Adventure Comics 48.
  9. Gotta say you have pretty high standards when a 9.2 on a book from 1944 is "fairly high grade" totally agree about it being a really beautiful book!
  10. For those of us who don't know, but would like to...what is your website? thanks.
  11. I typically hold onto most of them for a really long time. Especially those that are that expensive as I may not be able to buy them again.
  12. So with these prices seemingly at such a high, I would like the ideas from other collectors who "play in this sandbox" way more often than I do: Is this the time to sell any Pre Robin Detectives or buy them before they go even higher, or just wait and watch? Would love to know the opinions of Gotham Kid, Gator, LouFine, Primetime, Dark Knight, WayneTech and you other guys!
  13. I would agree with you and go with the 38,but the pre Robin guys are adamant and that may certainly sway their views. I would put More Fun 52 in my top ten books but I would certainly admit that would be a minority opinion.
  14. Is the midget comic stuck on 20? I have a pretty nice 20 but the mini comic had been removed. Always wondered about trying to find a loose one and at least put them in the mylar together. Very nice.
  15. I would think that big directors had already made big Horror movies, Hitchcock with Psycho, Spielberg with Jaws, and Ridley Scott with Alien. Maybe it needs to be comic first and then much later a film do drive comic prices? Don't know for just but just my two cents.
  16. I am in the same boat, and if I do sell everything else for one book, then that is not really much of a "collection"
  17. Dear Gator, Going to Orlando on Family vacation in the summer. If searching for GA or SA books, any comic shops worth the cab fare to and from to go and visit as I will not have a car? Thanks!
  18. Thanks, considering the cost and the qualified label it really doesn't seem to be worth it in my case, maybe only for an extremely expensive book.
  19. OK so if I have a very nice coverless and can find the same book for sale with a nice cover but big problems inside, if I send that to a professional and they take out the bad guts and affix the cover to my nice coverless with age appropriate staples, what level of restoration is that? I would guess slight as they are only using original, age appropriate materials but I am looking for others advice and experiences here. Also has anyone had this done and had good/bad luck with specific people? Estimate of fair cost of doing the work? Thanks for the help!
  20. I will admit I am not too familiar with this book but WOW!! That is a heck of a cover!
  21. Congratulations! That gives hope to us all!!
  22. Do you think a press would take care of the horizontal wrinkle that is under the ten cent logo? I have only had books pressed once and never with that particular problem. Thanks
  23. Got a great Fighting Yank and a very fair price and he was super helpful as it was my first purchase on the boards. He made it a really great experience. Thanks so much.
  24. yea except for the covers I think you're right that would be the most expensive. It just seems like a crazy amount to pay for a page from Action 1 much less Superman 1 which seems much easier to find. Not that I am looking to be honest.
