Great iconic page, but that price........

Is the strategy in putting the price that high, that someone might make an offer at half that price and think they are getting a great deal?

I think that is the exact strategy.  I am not opposed to buying pieced but at that price it would take 680,000 to assemble a .5 copy

  2. Posted this over in the Hey Buddy can you spare a grade, thread, but thought I would put it here too. Hesitant to get it slabbed as the interior cover is so much brighter than the exterior, but I do wish the water stain had not penetrated IMG_0745_zps8jnsul3e.jpgIMG_0746_zpsk6j6inhf.jpg to the second cover. Good news was that the pages did not stick together. Any thoughts on to slab or not? Also if anyone wants to jump over to the other thread and give an opinion on a grade that would be appreciated as well.

  3. OK I was thinking about getting this graded but then you can't see the better cover. The water stain goes through the book but stays out of the panels and the pages are not stuck together at all. I wonder if it might get a qualified grade because without the water stain the inside cover is stunningly white. Just wanting to get some other folks opinions.Interior page color is white. 4. I once got a mylar sort of folder thing. Imagine a Manila folder but comic sized and clear. You put the comic in it for rigidity and then put that in the old Mylar 4s. Rigid and you could see the front and back, the crease of the folder protected the spine of the book, but I have not seen another of that product in a decade or more. Anyone got a name for it?

I got this late last year and just got it back from grading recently. Really happy to have it. Bought the collection (through a comic shop owner) from a man whose father had bought all the comics as a child in the Kansas City area. I did read it before sending it off and the story is pretty charming, but Batman being lost on a country road and asking for directions in full uniform? Pretty sure I would not have answered the door!

  6. I am looking for some advice from more seasoned golden age collectors. Is there a percentage that you would typically pay for a book that is conserved? If it is cgc 4.0 and medium level of conservation would that be 50% of a blue label 4.0? Less? More? Is there any differing opinions between silver age conservation being more or less accepted than golden age. Any advice and sharing of knowledge would be appreciated. Thanks
