  1. ^I thought only the queen bee was a 'her.'

    Lil' Kim?

Ya got me, I had to google it. Didn't know that was her nickname.

It was a weak jest since I have to explain, but I figured muggins said "because Buzz et' her (buzzetta), with et being old English cockney for eat. Since I thought all the bees we see are male drones it should be 'buzz ate him.' Ba-dum-bump. Yours was gooder.

Thank you Grebal! Have you worked for The Pun Police long? If so, you may wish to revisit your original training notes regarding the correct application of pedantry and obsequiousness. A further word of advice - I am concerned about you you know - would be to look beyond the superficial for the real meaning when assessing future riddles. You may be surprised what you find.

Finally, and because I really do want to help make you a better person Grebal, if you pause to consider the feelings of new members when they are being indirectly yet openly criticised by seasoned regulars, and then act appropriately and with compassion, you may find that you will have helped to create a warmer, friendlier environment for all board members, new and old.

Oh, and a sense of humour wouldn't go a miss :foryou:

  2. Book is not a 1.0. It is a bit 'higher' and it was not noted as restored or qualified.

It has been listed numerous times and so far hasn't sold (on a site that won't be named as a courtesy to the OP since he didn't specify where it is being offered).

The edge has always looked suspicious to me every time I look at it.

Very possible it has been strategically torn to "undo" trimming.

No, no you've got it wrong. The picture posted by Buzzetta is not my AF15! My scans have come off for some reason. My book is not CGC graded. This is why I posted today, as the thread makes it look like it's my book. This is really unfair!

    I didn't say it was your AF15.

The picture that Buzzetta posted is up on another website.

The book Buzzetta posted is a CGC copy.

Sorry! I've misread this. My mistake Jordysnordy.

  4. You're most welcome.

And for what it's worth, I know that your question about tearing a trimmed edge was a hypothetical curiosity, and that you weren't condoning actually doing it. :)

Oh thanks! I didn't mean to upset anybody - it was just as you say, a bit of curiosity :foryou:

  5. Oh, this is the AF I posted. How odd. I hope everyone see's that I myself am not an advocate for defacing any comic book - it would have been nice to have included or mentioned that.

I'm not up on all the terminology - what does the third vote option 'crack please' mean?

  6. This is so, so, so lame... who the hell did they hire at the control tower? Who's calling these shots?

I agree - there must have been an internal production meeting at some point where a group of people sat around a table and discussed whether a 1:1000 was appropriate. For that meeting to be commercially productive, there should have been someone with his or her 'ear to the ground' representing the comic buying public.

That person should have voiced a concern that would echo the feelings of many in the collecting community: "Guys, isn't this a rip off gimmick?".

The group agreed however to go forward. So they must feel that what they are doing is right and good for the future prosperity of the industry.

Either that or they are mercenary bunch of short term gain dullards.

    Possibly!

  7. Does everyone agree that Pence copies, at least on key issues, seem to be gaining some ground in both respect and value, or is that still under debate?

They are, but only by the very discerning.

    Indeed

Do you think Brexit is more or less likely to increase the demand for pence price variants? hm

Reduce, surely, as there will be no one left to buy them as the world will have ended.

  8. I myself am a completist/completionist for certain titles and if I collected ASM I would feel so frustrated by this it would make me want to stop altogether. This would be near impossible for most collectors to obtain. As silly as it may be, I haven't collected the 2010 Wolverine run because I know I can't get the Wolverine/Deadpool #1 variant. I have everything Wolverine from 2013 and up and I remember thinking the 1:500 for Death of Wolverine was crazy....look where we are now less than 3 years later. It really is ridiculous and makes me slightly disgusted at Marvel.

Spot on. Comics should be fun. Marvel have killed it with greed. When ASM had 49,000 variants for the v3 relaunch I knew the game was up. Without being over dramatic, I feel that everything great about comics is in the past.

This is exactly when I stopped trying to complete an ASM run

I carried on unfortunately. Those variants cost me a fortune. And the vast majority of the covers were awful. I know, let's get the milkman to do a cover. .....
