  1. Thanks for that LMAO. I'd not be surprised though if at some future date the slab label is not printed and instead is a display which pulls a data feed. Something for the 7G or 8G era's
  2. 1 #38 was not enough Actually I picked one up and forgot to remove from my want list then picked up another. My #39 is "Hot Mess" for a 1979 9.8; Unattractive wrap plus ow/w and love it anyway.
  3. request filed; https://boards.cgccomics.com/topic/521331-request-changes-to-slab-notations-here/#comment-12778532
  4. Hi Folks: Title Black Panther Issue No. 14 Issue Date 3/79 Year 1979 Publisher Marvel Comics Black Panther 14 (Marvel 1979) represents Bill Sienkiewicz's first published cover art ! The First cover of an artist of Sienkiewicz's caliber deserves to be recognized. Sadly CGC wrongly and mistakenly attributes the cover art to Jerry Bingham who merely did interiors. https://www.cgccomics.com/census/grades_standard.asp?title=Black+Panther&issue=14&publisher=Marvel+Comics&year=1979&issuedate=3/79 The Correct Black Panther 14 (Marvel 1979) cover artists are; Bill Sienkiewicz/Joe Rubenstein both of who will gladly verify that. The cover art was recently displayed in another thread, I sure am jelly, and you can clearly see the correct artist info near top right as per Marvel standards of the time. Marvel shows the correct credits on their websites; https://www.marvel.com/comics/issue/17860/black_panther_1977_14 https://marvel.fandom.com/wiki/Black_Panther_Vol_1_14 GCD also displays the correct cover art credit: https://www.comics.org/issue/33206/ It is long overdue that Bill Sienkiewicz's "historic" first cover gets it proper due from CGC! 1) Please correct cover credit to read "Bill Sienkiewicz/Joe Rubenstein cover 2) Add the following notation; "1st Bill Sienkiewicz published cover" @CGC Mike Entered as you suggested. Hoping this huge slight, even though unintended, against Comic Artist Legend Bill Sienkiewicz is quickly corrected
  5. ^ There are more, Avengers 147-148,Daredevil 133-134-135, WBN 38, Invaders 6-7 for example. But the first 2 books I mentioned were the initial ones I thought of
  6. Marvel Spotlight 28 and Werewolf By Night 39. .25 Comics were way before my time.
  7. Will takes Mike suggestion regarding BP14 Sienkiewicz and start a new thread in a day or 2.
  8. I do love the 1978-1979 35 Cent'ers. New slab was self submitted.
  9. Mike, please explain how we can have CGC correct the credits? First cover of an artist of Sienkiewicz's caliber deserves to be recognized. @CGC Mike
  10. all depends on what was paid. If it's more than a hobby as those with business acumen are aware; Cash flow is king!
  11. Yeah they hit about 4-5 years back. I'd had searched for a copy since 2000 then suddenly they were "everywhere". #13 was my number one Marvel HB Grail and one of my top 10 most sought after books from my 1980's childhood quarter bin days so I ain't complaining.
  12. The spine on #12 is a huge challenge. When I evaluate a book I start with the spine. I'd guess most other collectors start with corners or edges but for me a perfect spine outweighs other defects. Kudos on your great eye all that time ago.
  13. Thanks Lyndsey; 1 more Have self-compiled sets of these 75 and 76 Marvels in my grading pile that were going to go the folks in CA prior to the Pandemic. I really like how your labels match the Comic slabs so will be submitting them to CGC instead.
  14. I do get the point but a Nitpick - Modern win per season records are: AL Jack Chesbro 41 NL Christy Mathewson 37
  15. Hi, was unable to add my Marvel Super Heroes Stickers 1976 (Topps) Received unable to add to set message The cards are both "**" versions but asterisk variations are the norm for this set. Thanks!
  16. The question you asked was is it a scarce book. Based on Census it is not. The mostly black background will keep 9.8 pop in check compared to 9.6's but if the book ever does become "hot" or "key" expect submissions thus population to sublimate as per the norm. It's common for Whitman Distributed Marvel's of the era to have smaller high grades pop's CGC Label CGC Total Avg. 17. It sure ain't Little Stooges Scarce :)
  18. As the market continues to settle down the time frame in which a book will stay hot is shrinking on the whole. If you have a hot book to sell, unload it quickly, even if not at absolute max FMV, to some rube/simpleton/novice/neophyte*, and if you are thinking of sending to CGC think twice as it could be cold by time you get it back which then results in wasted capital. Not to mention creates a glut of the same book for sale which outside of a historic bubble only hastens a price drop. * I say rube/simpleton/novice/neophyte as after all who else foolishly chases only hot books. Far less of those folks in the hobby since the bubble burst, as they continue to leave the faster a Hot to Warm to Cold cycle will be. IMHO organically slower but steady growth that is less likley to give up gains is better for sellers than a hot book de jour
