Nitpicking on the 20 year estimate aside, I think most grasp the idea that when prices in general moved to a certain threshold it was a business.

Once art (like covers or splashes) moved from 3 Figure's to 4 Figures 20 years ago it no longer was hobby but a business. We are now in the days where an average non-action Marvel Superhero page from the 70's is 4 Figures and good action pages by B artist approach 5 figures.

Cypto the preferred, if not only accepted "currency's" of Drug Dealers, ARMS Dealers, Income Tax Avoid-ers, Fugitives, Human Traffickers, and Terrorists {These are facts folks easy enough to look up} . Do we now add OCA dealers to that list?

Ditch Eternals and Bring in the FF ! The FF done "right" that is. Eternals from it's first series and all subsequent were boring uninteresting and sometimes unintelligible comics and the film was no different.

That means not having to read any "wiped off of ebay" posts in this thread for Fist of Khonshu 2 Selling one every 7-10 days would have netted more per book but on mid/upper-mid grade the interest will wane first leaving many unsold. By unloading as many as possible while iron is hot is the best move if it's a large amount of mid/upper-mid grade copies. Bottom line if non high grade copies in bulk a very smart move, if its a handful or 2 then probably much less smart. The more copies the seller holds, the better the strategy. P.S. The shipping charge is insane for a raw 2 figure book. $21.19 + Tax (for most) , the shipping cost will be more than the value of the book in mid grade by time spring ends. I never will understand buying a comic when it's at it hottest. Based on what I see many collect that way. While there is no wrong way to collect it seem less than fiscally sound to me.

Dude I get that on books all the time that have a lot less value in fact some of them are images in my current signature on this forum.

Difficult to grade due to limited pics but based on what I see I'd say the maximum is an 8 with a press. Still even a 6.5 or 7 for this book is excellent.

^ Whoever wins it will be saddled with comments like the "yeah OK, but it's from mid-1979 and does NOT have White Pages" their entire time of ownership. To fork over that kind of coin in effect to be ridiculed by collectors and dealers alike puts it into the more $'s than sense category as i mentioned earlier. If 50K means nothing to you then why not advertise a want-to-buy for 75-100K for a 9.9 with WHITE pages? There are 3 of them after all. Seems absurd to budget shop on an inferior 9.9 at 50K.

These were professional restorations done by a true master of the craft primarily in the analog domain - meaning assembling the films from the best known sources and in some cases cleaning cells by hand. Not some cheap jack Digital restoration that almost always looks horrible There is detail galore on these Blu-rays. Even if these shorts are 90 years ago, Miss Crabtree [June Marlow] is totally hot in any decade or century! My recommendation to any interested is grab these, direct from the label (classicflix) before the manufacturing run ends and these go for 3-4x the price in the secondary market. Vol 5 will be out in April, and 6 later this year.

I personally know collectors that will avoid all books that do not have White pages. One of them is buddy of mine and in a conversation he told me, he prefers: 1) 9.4 with WP over a 9.8 with Off-White 2) 9.6 with WP over a 9.8 with OW/W 3) 9.4 with WP over a 9.6 with OW/W Everyone has their own thing of course. As for me I've no problem with OW/W on Bronze and Silver especially late 70's books with paper that was pretty much newsprint. Copper and newer yeah I'll agree White pages or nothing. I do agree a book should not be a 9.9 unless White Pages. How can it be "Mint" if a flaw noted in the description. Mint means perfect condition and looks like new in all respects. OW/W pages removes all magic from a 9.9 IMHO! Those thinking of spending good currency on that 194 9.9 need to realize that OW/W will turn off many "high rollers" thus limiting ability to re-coup expenditure when (not if) the book drops substantially off it's highs. If it had WP then those worries likley all eliminated. Due to the OW/W my feeling is the book at what it will likley go for is for someone with more $'s than sense P.S. the book sure does look sharp! Perhaps even too sharp...

Not everything is bid up to the maximum, my guess is they have it all down to science. Also how do you know it was not shilled to the price you won it at? Keep in mind if all item hit their maximum they will price out a decent segment of bidders. Again they probably have it all mapped out and get the minimum they want from every item they sell. Only way to avoid is not to patronize them. Myself I consider every item they sell as if the item does not exist. A collectible black-hole as it were.

What is permitted gives them carte blanche. If they do win an item they can simply add it to next week's or months auction. For those bidding the bottom line is an item can and will hammer at minimum for whatever their algorithm is programmed. Again I'm sure there are some items not affected but I'm also sure that is factored in to their model. At least you get all those nice e-mails bragging about how much money Hertigate pulls in from their auctions. Yeah we get it Heritage you make a pile o'money, somehow at least to me not as endearing McDonald's bragging about how many burgers they have made.

What allegations? Its legal in Texas. While they may not advertise the practice, in the state in which they are charted it's totally lawful.

More than a decade back a comic art collecting friend (acquaintance) of mine decided to bid on 1970's Charlton cover that was ALL STAT. He merely wanted some of stats as he could use them on a cover he had that lacked them. He decided $40 was worth it for those. He accidentally bid $400! Realizing to his horror it woudl be bid up to the MAX by the auction house themselves, he contacted Heritage immediately via phone call and email and explained the accidental zero added to his bid. At the start of the phone call he let the CSR know he was recording the call for potential future legal action. Eventually he got to one of the senior-ish people at Heritage, still they were not willing to alter or cancel his errant bid. Sure enough the auction ended and he won it as the top bid of $400. Heritage themselves shill bid (legal in Texas) the worthless photostat all the way. He did not pay for the item and given the audio and email correspondence he possessed, he invited Heritage to press the issue further. They never did. Interestingly enough after a few months that photostat item disappeared from Heritage's archives. I believe he was banned from their auctions not that he would have used them again anyhow.

IMHO if not shipped 10 bus days after payment consider filing a Wire Transfer Fraud claim with the sending financial institution as well as report to https://reportfraud.ftc.gov/. Last I recall, from about 10 years back, is those are taken very seriously and perhaps will provide the proper kick to the pants required.

Never stated that! However sure yes I think that will be great. I've no sympathy for flippers, speculators or those jumpin' on comics band wagon for fast buck. Yep I am cranky BUT whether i want it to be the case or not is of zero relevance! Market conditions will dictate who wins and who losses. Those sending in mid grade ASM361's thinking they had stuck gold probably never belonged in hobby to begin with. I ask you a question do think ultimately flippers of books like Eternals 1 or ASM 361 in 8.5, 9.0, 9.2. 9.4 at high mark-ups have truly helped the hobby in the long term and if so how?? Or did they merely help themselves only. If you feel the later then we agree. While Flippers, Speculators and Hot book de jour Hyping dealers will always exist in the hobby a well deserved pruning will take place as Supply and Demand reigns supreme which eventually it always does

I know this will ruffle some feathers but I hope huge numbers of folks loose BIG money. All true Collector's IMHO should want that as well. Flippers, speculators, and Modern age dealers, will be upset but if the smart ones knew the spike (modern bubble) would not last forever.
