  1. Hi, @Jennifer F. the errors mentioned I have personally seen on all CGC copies of the books. Looking for it to be corrected going forward and properly updated in CGC's database, not necessarily on the copies I have. Lets take this as an example on the CGC Census DB: https://www.cgccomics.com/census/grades_standard.asp?title=Black+Panther&issue=14&publisher=Marvel+Comics&year=1979&issuedate=3/79 Wrong/Current Entry: Ed Hannigan story, Jerry Bingham & Gene Day art, Jerry Bingham cover Proposed Corrected Entry: Ed Hannigan story, Jerry Bingham & Gene Day art, 1st published cover by Bill Sienkiewicz I will email cust service as you mentioned.
  2. It does appears that comments or hype on this very Bronze sub-forum can have some effect on going rate. See the Pizzazz post 2/3 of the way down this page: https://boards.cgccomics.com/topic/271979-bronze-age-comics-that-are-heating-up-on-ebay/page/541/#comments
  3. Adding: Pizzazz #1 was on-sale same month as Star Wars #4. This means the first Star Wars extended universe story appeared 2 months before the adaption of the film concluded in Star Wars #6 and before most has even seen the film. Congrats to whomever wiped all the CGC copies off eBay. We all know it was those who read this topic that did it.
  4. All the CGC graded Pizzazz #1's on eBay are now gone. For those not following it was the 1st Star Wars extended universe story (Cover dated Oct 1977, on-sale late June 1977). Pizzazz #1 was on-sale same month as Star Wars #4. This means the first Star Wars extended universe story appeared 2 months before the adaption of the film concluded in Star Wars #6 and before most had even seen the film! https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=pizzazz+cgc&_sacat=0&rt=nc&LH_Complete=1 All went today. Regardless of what was said in the ASM194 thread, posting in this forum can affect the market. Pizzazz #1 can simply not get any hotter as it completely sold out! Unlike ASM 194 where there over 3 Dozen CGC graded currently on eBay <sarcasm> yeah that books "rare" </sarcasm> My post here may have contributed to book sales jump to light speed: I do wish I had thought to purchase one of the 9.6's on eBay before I made my posts :sigh As Jackie Gleason said "I've got a [opens mouth wide] BIG MOUTH!".
  5. I've been around a while and although slab fraud exists at least on the rare occasion when I've seen it it's been evident although perhaps not to those new to the hobby. Please note I buy book, not the slab label, whereas most who've joined the hobby the last decade do not. Thus I do not foresee a situation where those like myself fall victim.
  6. No offense but its a rather bad idea. Bronze/Copper would be priced higher and Modern would remain least expensive. I really do not think it would ever fly to charge higher for modern than Bronze/Copper. The only way to stop flow is was PSA did and that is to remove all but express and walk through for at least 1/2 a year if not longer. However Venture Capitalists do not want to consider that. The goal of a Venture Capitalist is to squeeze as much out of a purchase as immediately as possible. Just like with an orange after nothing but an all wrung-out rind remains, they move on the next one. Retaining Customers for business down the road is not part of their process. While there are few rare exceptions no Venture Capitalist has ever left a firm stronger when they pull out than it was prior to them taking over.
  7. Pizzazz #1 ? I see that today, likley due to that thread copies on eBay are quickly drying up. The reason I mention is that folks have pointed out to me that topics here do not affect the Market, well I postulate to them that on low population books that perhaps posts here do influence the market.
  8. Yw, I was wrong however and have edited my initial post. Please re-read this topic
  9. Question: How can we go about having CGC recognizing and correcting persistent wrong data on slab labels? Pizzazz 1 is the very first 1st Star Wars extended universe story! Yet Star Wars 7 incorrectly has the notation not Pizzazz 1 Pizzazz 1 (cover date Oct 1977 on-sale June 1977) was on sale full 4 months prior to Star Wars #7 (Cover dated 1/78 on sale Oct 1977). The story was by Roy Thomas and the art by Howard Chaykin and Dezuniga inks Blank Panther 14 (1979) is Bill Sienkiewicz's first published cover. For unknown reasons CGC shows cover artist as Jerry Bingham??? who did the interiors. Bingham never drew even a single 1970's Marvel cover. An artist of Sienkiewicz's stature more than deserves to have his first cover properly mentioned. Same as Byrne, McFarlane, Perez, Miller, Jim Lee, etc have their 1st cover's noted.
  10. Unless it's Wolverine or Venom, in Hulk 181 and ASM 300 I know what you meant though, just injecting some humor. P.S. IMHO the last page full splash of Venom in ASM 299 is by far nicer than any Venom page in ASM 300. At least with Hulk 181 it's Wolverine's first cover.
  11. You are correct Pizzazz 1 is the first Star Wars extended universe story! Pizzazz 1 is cover dated Oct 1977 and went on-sale late June 1977! Star Wars 7 was 3 months later and by then 3 installments of the Roy Thomas/Howard Chaykin story had been published in Pizzazz 1-3. As 1970's Marvel Magazine Pizzazz #1 has virtually no CGC census population. http://cgcdata.com/cgc/search/title/:pizzazz:/desc/no/label/all/orderby/year/variants/yes/census/220104/ Expect to see these disappear off of eBay now Problem is they are way too rare, supply is way, way,way too low for flippers and speculators to obtain copies in order to make their fast bank. The sweet spot for that is a high population around 1500 copies or more in 9.6 and higher like say ASM 194 Question: how can we go about having CGC recognize Pizzaz 1 rather than Star Wars 7 as 1st extended universe? While we are at it have CGC correct Blank Panther 14 1979 which is Bill Sienkiewicz's first published cover not Bingham's. Bingham never drew even a single 1970 marvel cover.
  12. I'm surprised it's not already been deleted, and won't be if tomorrow it's gone.
  13. and more are coming. Star Wars however is true pop culture royalty, Felicia Hardy not so much. Based on your initial post that started this thread you appear to have a vested fi$cal interest in the book. My mostly worthless opinion (insert your argumentative dig here) is there is at least some bias at play on your part.
  14. I do wish any of the current competition was truly viable. Hopefully there will be another player one day. Folks the goal was not to slow down submission of books that probably should not be submitted. If it had been CGC would have done what PSA did which was only limit subs to only express for 8 months. This is purely a cash grab. All this price increase will do, other than line the CGC exec's pockets, is cause a deluge of new submissions. Prepare for turn-around-time for what is already in the pipeline to be increased by months - perhaps even a year. Great times ahead with CGC; higher costs, turn around time possibly at a year, and continued reduced quality control. After all why do any quality control if you are overflowing with business? P.S. Years from now when the boom is but a memory try to recall how you were were treated when they was a livin' way high up on that hog
  15. I just checked my raw and graded copies neither have that defect. My raw was purchased fresh from my LCS in Aug 1985
  16. I always had problems reaching them via phone or email. Yeah its worse now and has been over a year since they had stock due to pandemic related delays.. No idea what going on but hope they will stay around.
  17. Agreed. When a book is somewhere in the approximate neighborhood of low quantity (say under 40 on Copper/Modern in 9.6 and higher and under 30 on Bronze in 9.4 or higher) its way too difficult for the Flippers/Speculators/Social Media bandwagon jumpers/etc get a hold of copies in order to get the machinations flowing to make the fast bank they require. 2616 in 9.4 or higher for a Bronze Age book in very high population and extremely high number for an allegedly difficult book to find in high grade. My opinion remains those purchasing these at 5-6K in 9.8 or below don't want to be holding them when Flippers/Speculators etc move to their next ASM targets. Rules of Musical Chairs apply. <sarcasm> Buh Buh Buh its so rare there are "only" 469 in CGC 9.8 and CGC 9.9 combined , and only 1058 in CGC 9.6 </sarcasm> Above represents my opinion, except for specific numbers stated in 2nd and 3rd paragraphs, those numbers are easily verified via CGC census.
  18. Was Star Wars #7 the first fictionalized story for the Star Wars mythos after "A New Hope?" Nope. Marvel's Pizzazz 1 contains the first published Star Wars extended universe story, having been released late June 1977, 3 months before Star Wars 7 and 9 full months earlier than Splinter. Star Wars 7 is cover dated Jan 1978. That means it first hit the newsstands in Sept 1977 or 1st week of Oct 1977 at the latest. Alan Dean Foster's Splinter of the Mind's Eye first went on-sale March 1978. Although it was many years after 1977, the first issue of Star Wars i ever saw as child was an old beat-up #7. It remains one of my, if not still my, favorite cover in the run. Star Wars Christmas first aired Nov 17, 1978 so a distant 4th Please note I have revised this post as it originally contained erroneous information.
  19. I recall more than once them halting during live streaming auctions to smugly publicly congratulate themselves for reaching different multi-million dollar milestones. To those upset by their miserly tactics and abusive buyer/customer treatment - spend your money elsewhere, you may very well feel better about yourselves
  20. For nearly 10 years these have been my rules for Comic purchases. In 2021 I did break rules 1,2,4 for a 1/1 "oddball" book I'd been seeking for 2 decades, and got very very lucky and all went pretty well although still feel it was shilled up a bit. I also employ rules 1 and 4 for comic art. 1) Never buy from Heritage 2) Avoid purchasing a book even if graded unless viewed in person. Exceptions being very hard to find books then hi-res pics of front and back will hopefully suffice? This rule applies to all books in which approx going rate is being collected, not to discount lot type stuff. 3) Never purchase at going rate any book after it becomes hot. Wait until it cools and or simply move on to other books. 4) Never buy from Heritage, if in doubt see rule 1.
  21. Try holding back a payment on an auction win for 120 hours and see what happens.
