  1. Different hobbies and Sports cards have probably a minimum of 100 times the collector base. Still, apologies, 461 is not considered scarce. Even PSA10 population 50-100 is not considered scarce in fact if it's a pre-1980 card it's considered somewhat high-ish. Cards are graded so much more harshly than comic books. Applies to oranges here but a CGC 9.8 if a card is roughly equivalent to PSA 8. How many comics would grade 9.8 if judged using 8-10x magnification ? NO we don't want comics graded like stupid cards. Now 461 for CGC 9.8 of a 1979 book that is a rather high number and growing. While a market or in this case an item can remain irrational longer than most can remain solvent ,supply and demand will always win out. Time will sort it all out. Fast acting flippers aside, smart folks do not purchase when item is cresting they are already casting net and buying low on the next potentially hot thing
  2. BigLeagueChew that sums it up nicely. I might also add "Black Cat" is merely a Catwoman-lite analog. My guess is those who are $eeing $'s or have "invested" $'s will comment with the most Venom (pun intended) I don't sell Comics so to me regardless of their going market rate is it makes no difference to me. Since I picked up 90% of my Comics prior to 2000, having mostly left the hobby for Original Comic Art, I don't need to justify recent Comic Book expenditures - other than sending them in for grading Time will tell and I believe time is very much on my side in this case. Now to dig my 194 and 195 out to have graded
  3. Similar to #135 and possibly even more "busy". I'm not fan of the design of that type of layout.
  4. It will, It's not Hulk 181 or GS X-Men 1 , 2 prime examples of books that have not cooled down in 4 decades. Even ASM 300 has started to chill recently compared to July-mid Oct time-frame. Venom is still in film which is first run playing in some parts of the globe. Who in gen pop has ever heard or cares about "The Black Cat"? While that could change there will be no more 2x-3x% growth for 194 it's certainly not a 10k or 15k book. More likley headed down as you said to 2-3k in 9.8. 194 is nice book but if you are seller, sell now as it climbs towards it's apex. If you are collector I'd bet you can get a 9.6 sometime in the next 2 years for what 9.2 (or 9.0) might cost in the shorter-term. As for 195 it's hardly been noticed in comparison. At current levels it's probably still OK to jump in for a high grader
  5. I'm not an eBay seller. Maybe have sold total 25 items (mostly physical digital media like Blu-ray and CD) in last 10 years. Once they wanted bank account info it ended my days of listing anything on their platform. eBay really does seem to want to punish their sellers constantly and continually without pause. Seems to me eBay's decline is already in progress. The universe and fiscal universe abhors a void I'm sure it will be filled!
  6. The lower grades are the first and fastest to cool. How many folks are now glad they paid prime time for an ASM 361 in 9.2/9.4 compared to a few months ago? Same thing about an ASM 300 in 9.0/9.2. Unless you are flipper who works very fast, chasing the NON high-grade hot issue de jour is not a wise fiscal move. Although I guess it does allow one to ham it up holding the book in a selfie to display on Social Media :sigh
  7. While White Page are very nice, I personally don't understand paying extra for something not visible in a slab. I also don't collectors who will pay more for a 9.4w than 9.6 ow/w. To each their own of course and on raw books it does make some sense but again to me not if in a slab. Talking difference between w and ow/w or even ow only , I can understand some collectors not wanting cream or especially brown pages as it may be evidence of improper storage.
  8. A raw purchase from the mid 90's, sent for grading around 2003. I do think if cracked out and re-submitted today a 9.8 is plausible, but as of this moment in time I don't have the stones to do.
  9. Another comic I purchased as a kid was shipped back to me earlier this week from CGC. Thus far as with all my raw submissions it was NOT pressed. Back then the seance scared the cr@p out of me. Moore sure could write. Great cover even if the Spectre is wrongly colored blue. As I recall this was the Spectre's first app after Crisis 10. Guess now it's known as the sort of 1st appearance of JLA Dark? Odd another slab scan that the book appears bowed on the right edge. In my pre-slabbed scan it looks fine...
  10. I did search specifically for the newsstand as the price in diamond just does not look right to me on this issue. Difficult book to find in high grade. The white area in the bottom right corner is not color loss its extra folded over paper that was not cut off during manufacturing. Sure glad comics are not graded like stupid trading cards when every manufacturing anomaly counts against you
  11. Was it #23 or #24 when Thor and Godzilla have the reverse type tug of war with the Empire State Building. My favorite 'moment" of the series.
  12. A $2.00 mid 1990's raw purchase which is the only 9.8 #23 in 1st generation CGC slab/label: My latest copy - goal over the years became to have one in each of CGC's slab generations.
  13. Pop culture and Movie franchises collide! 23 and 24 are a great read
  14. Page quality is a JOKE. Specifically how many times a ow/w goes to w !
  15. Old School Slabbed Newsstand's The 9.6 presents better than many 9.8's, I see the reason for the 9.6 and would easily press out but on this book simply not worth the expense, especially given the page quality.
  16. Purchased in my youth from LCS - now back from CGC, UN-pressed of course. Overlooked issue from early in the series. 2-7 as I recall had the smallest printings in the run. I really like the way J'onn J'onzz was handled, wish Gaiman had done a series with the DC "supers".
  17. If you can get full graded market price without actually getting a book graded great. The rant via run-on sentence makes one seem like the Joker.
  18. Received my childhood Limited #1 copy back this week. As normal unpressed. Also my original 1987 #1 I sent to CGC about 18 years ago. Purchased 2 copies of #1 back then the other copy is now queued in Sarasota Not sure why but the Limited slabbed scan the right edge appears "bowed" while it's not a total straight cut the scan is not true to life - some odd refraction due to the case??? The pre-submission scan shows what it looks like in reality. . Anyhow it's the copy I purchased Oct 1985 in my youth and it ain't goin' nowhere As I recall the Limited series propelled The Punisher from a C or D level character to an A-lister who just a few years later would have 3 concurrent monthly series' Typical 80's Zeck cover; dude firing gun(s) with mouth hanging open There's even a Zeck Cap cover like that. It is classic though!
  19. IMHO Signed or not , the book is dirt common in 9.4, 9.4 on a book of this era is not high grade. Any correction on a high population book will begin at non hi grade levels. As demand on those much more difficult to maintain.
  20. How about Mirage TMNT issue 6? Not sure why but one of the more difficult to score a 9.8. Lowest CGC 9.8 population (only 63) of issues 2-8 and there are double the amount 9.6's (141) as 9.8.
  21. #'s 4,5,9,14,15 were the 5 for $10. I've kept records of all my back issue purchases since 1990, starting on paper, then Lotus 123 in 1992, then Excel in 1994. My current xlxs is descendant of that original 123 sheet ported to Excel in 1994 I sent #15 to CGC 18 years ago it received (a deserved) 9.6 and at the time there were none higher. A few years later I found a CGC 9.8. I then traded the 9.6 #15. I am thinking of submitting 2 of the remaining 3 from that day.
  22. Fresh back from CGC yesterday - UNpressed. A $2 local con raw purchase from 1995. Picked up 5 High Grade Panthers that day for a ten spot. The dealer was one of the most friendly, honest and genuine I've ever met. Dealt with him at local shows for several years. Rino sure hope you are still with us man and are doing well.
