  1. Lightning from the fingers to thunderbolts from an electro-mechanical contraption.
  2. A change from a 9.6 to an 8.0 wouldn't be unheard of. Books can be damaged while being autographed. (A Signature-Series grade is a qualified grade, anyway; due to the writing, the universal grade on any autographed book would be much lower.) Some artists are careful when they handle the books that they're autographing, but some aren't. Books can come back with hand sanitizer spilled on them, coffee spilled on them, popped staples, etc. What is weird is that they "found" the book so quickly. I guess the likelihood of that depends on how many copies of that issue were submitted to be autographed by that artist on that date.
  3. Maybe you should wait to see if the 8.0 copy that you get back is the 9.6 that you sent in. Do you have a picture of the old 9.6 that you sent in? That could help you confirm whether the 8.0 is or isn't the same book.
  4. Small-eyed man talking to large-eyed girl to closed-eyed man talking to large-eyed girl; summer of '53 to summer of '53.
  5. I bought this one years ago at a rental place that was switching over from VHS to DVDs. Needless to say, it was direct to video. A company did produce some comic books based on the chatacter Dollman, so there's a slight comic book tie-in.
  6. Plant with 1 face on it to butterfly with 4 faces on it.
  7. Busting in a door to busting down a barricade.
  8. Forlorn raven-haired beauty acutely aware of a happy couple to forlorn blonde beauty acutely aware of a happy couple.
  9. Smaller hero holding on to large ship to large hero holding on to large car as evil doer plummets to his death.
  10. Four years? That's nothing. There are books that have been on my want list since the 80s.
  11. Didn't Bill Sarill retire right around that time? He must have sniffed the changing attitudes in the air.
  12. The Fantast Collection is likely just the first of many—although I doubt very many will be quite that large. Was it ever confirmed whether the 9.2 Tec 27 was the Mastro copy? The Promise Collection fills that bill pretty well.
  13. I've never seen an Allentown book in a PLOD; maybe none of them had enough defects to make anyone want to restore them. Granted, some of the already-high-grade Church books got the amateur treatment with glue and color touch, but I think the stigma against amateur resto was stronger by the time the Allentown collection surfaced.
  14. Jeffro, have you ever seen a grown man sniffing comics?
  15. In the washing machine to washed down the drain.
