  1. That one probably did sell considering that it went for quite a bit more than what he had paid, but who knows for sure.
  2. I think this is typical of Worldwide. Back in November of 2012, WorldWide had a 9.2 copy of Catman Comics #1 listed on their site as "SOLD" around the time it showed up in a ComicLink auction. I believe it was priced at $6,000. It only fetched $4,100 in the CLink auction, and all records of the sale disappeared from CLink's site within about a day. I sent an e-mail to Josh Nathanson about it, but he couldn't offer an explanation. Lo and behold, @Cat-Man_America later acquired the book from—guess who—Steve Ritter of WorldWide.
  3. Female heroine suspended by the wrists over a vat of acid to female victim who appears to be alive and well despite being suspended by the wrists over a vat of molten metal hot enough to cook a person through and through even without direct contact.
  4. To me, an autographed book is a defaced book. I'd love to have a copy sans autograph, however.
  5. Bucky about to be perforated to Bucky about to be gutted and possibly roasted.
  6. Don't be sad! It could come in handy if there's another pandemic and you run of of toilet paper.
  7. Rabid dog on a yellow cover to rabid woman in a yellow dress.
  8. Any answer to the original poster's question has to be qualified by the observation that tastes differ widely. For someone who likes goofy, wacky humor, many of the funny animal books would be enjoyable reads even though there often isn't a compelling plot.
  9. All of these Marvels that are selling well because of movie tie-ins still have virtually unlimited downside. As soon as the super hero movies give way to the next big thing and fade from the public consciousness, those books are going to be impossible to move. It is still ridiculous for Eternals #1 to be selling for $600. Long-term, it would be a bad bet at $100. The hype is resulting in so many copies being submitted to CGC that there will be more slabbed 9.8s than buyers at even $100 after the hype has completely faded (10 years from now, let's say).
  10. If it actually sold. Don't be surprised if you see it in his booth at Comicpalooza.
  11. The EC Horror and Sci-fi stories are fun to read, in no small part because of the humor that was successfully interjected into even the most grim stories. Most GA stories are a little uninspired compared to BA and CA stories. They can be fun to read in order to have a chuckle at how dated they are, etc., but they're just not great literature.
  12. Zolnerowich from November of '41 to Zolnerowich from November of '42.
  13. It looks more Kamen-esque than Baker-esque to me, but we may never know. For one thing, artists could have tag teamed on any given cover (especially anything coming out of the production-line-like Iger shop), and for another thing, a ham-handed inker can obscure the deft touch of a talented artist.
  14. Did you mean CVA and CL? My only three CVA books came from CLink, whereas I've never seen a CVA book on the HA site. All of the books appear strictly graded in their slabs, but we all know that some defects can't be seen through a slab, so I tried not to let the CVA stickers influence my bidding.
  15. Plastic Man and Woozy Winks triumphant to Plastic Man and Woozy Winks in peril.
  16. Unconscious woman on a Superior comic to same.
  17. It cost $800. I did not take the pedigree into account; I would have paid the same for a non-ped.
  18. It doesn't look like spine roll to me; it just looks like a mis-wrap, which would not be penalized by CGC. I'm impressed with the Cosmic Aeroplane 9.6s. I don't normally associate that pedigree with such high grades. My only example is a lowly 8.0. ETA: I'm a little depressed now because I looked at my invoice for this book, and I noticed that I had purchased it way back in November of 2013. I can't believe 9 years and 4 months can go by that fast.
  19. Satan and the Sorcerer's Secret to a sorcerer and the Sons of Satan.
  20. Shill bidding in an online auction is a federal crime—wire fraud—and all federal crimes are felonies. One baseball card dealer went to prison for shill bidding on eBay, but I haven't seen any prosecution in this hobby yet.
