  1. OR, it could mean that your grail piece has become available and is worth more to you than the other pieces in your collection that you have an attachment to, and enjoyed for many years. BUT, it is your Grail piece, the holiest of holies to you is now available, and you have one shot at getting it. there are other scenarios I can cite in response to Will, but I’m feeling lazy this morning 😉
  2. Anyone still buying this book? I only ask because I've been receiving offers from folks willing to sell their 9.8's to me for $5K.
  3. and yet, Eternals 1 goes for more...a far bigger turd than the potential of She-Hulk 1
  4. Its not just a difference in UPC and a price change out. Its also about the significantly smaller print run, too. Think of the difference in price between a CGC 9.8 35 cent price variant Star Wars 1 vs its regular 30 cent counterpart. While the difference in print run between CPV vs regular cover price editions of ASM 238 isn't as severe, its is still very significant. and quite frankly, the CPV is harder to find for this book than the other ASM keys from its era.
  5. For me, this hobby is 99.99% nostalgia driven. The artist and title that provide the most nostalgia from my youth (value received) is a Todd McFarlane Spidey cover. Moreso than a Ditko Spidey cover, Wood EC cover, Krazy Kat, (feel free to insert creator and comic book/strip title here), etc. I am willing to pay more for it than any other artists' work on any title because it will provide me with the most value received. I can't explain it any simpler than this. and I'm not going to try.
  6. You are very mistaken if you think 17 copies in 9.8 is common, considering its one of the highest print run title/book of its era. The reason why some of the ASM 201-230's in 9.8 are in single digits is because they aren't worth the shipping+slabbing fees in relation to their realized sales value in 9.8. There are numerous dealers and non-dealers alike sitting on dozens of copies of these books, just waiting for them to break out (like ASM 210, 212, Annual 16) in order to make it worthwhile to submit them.
  7. Hi, all: Just one book for sale HULK 340 CGC 9.6 WHITE, SIG SERIES (McFARLANE/DAVID/ROMITA SR/PARKER). Price = $650 shipped, in North America. $20 shipping outside of North America The usual rules apply
  8. The face is definitely Todd's, but the rest looks very Jim Lee-ish to me.
  9. I realize this is already a 40 year old book, and in my heyday of collecting comics (late 80's-mid 90's), it was always 25 cents to a dollar. But times change, and long boxes of this book have been dispersed into the masses, along with other characters/titles from this era who now command prices in excess of $500 for a CGC 9.8 copy of thier first appearance. I would also caution those who pigeonhole this character as being only associated with the Hulk. She Hulk is one of those characters who's appearances in the Marvel Universe includes membership in the Fantastic Four, Avengers, Heroes for Hire, The Defenders, and SHIELD so when you think about all of the possibilities that exist for this character in the Marvel (Disney) TV or Cinematic Universe, well, let's just say you have a lot more choices than with just about any other character. $600 for her 1st appearance? Still a bargain, IMHO
  10. One was a private transaction. The other on HA, but I do not know who the under-bidders were.
  11. A few years ago, I built up a war chest and spent like a drunker sailor. I will admit to making two six-figure purchases that year, but I haven't done so since. If the right McSpidey cover came along, I could easily see myself bidding/offering well into six-figures again.
  12. A few folks have asked to see the photo of the cover to Cerebus #1, so here's the photo of Dave, me, and the cover. Behind us, you can see some of the industry awards Dave won for his work on Cerebus. Apologies for the blurry resolution.
  13. Hi all; recently, I picked up a small collection of comics related magazines and the seller included this Price Guide for free. Does anyone have details as to the publisher and whether or not this was the only volume? Any info would be greatly appreciated!
  14. Thanks, everyone. its nice to see how many knowledgeable collectors are on the boards, and recognize this book in this grade as something special. I App recital of the public and private messages and I have just one more note to add: this book is now ON HOLD.
  15. This book was dead since Nov 2019. In fact, the book decreased in value in all grades. when other Bronze Keys and minor keys started to rise in value shortly after March, 2020, this book was still dead. then in summer, copies below 9.0 started to rise in price, and so did 9.2’s and 9.4’s more recently as folks began to notice the relative value of ASM 129 compared to the recent price hikes/values of other Key Bronze Age books. The price hikes for the other Bronze Keys far outpaced the ASM 129. prices on 9.6’s and 9.8’s are still kinda low, but I don’t expect that to last beyond February of the New Year. This book has a lot of room to grow, and now is a great time to buy.
