  1. Part 2 of the fun pieces I'd love to own in this auction: Frank Miller MTU #100p6 has Spidey in every panel, and its a pretty nifty page indeed. At one time, I started a (foolish) quest to complete this issue. I think I got about six pages into it before I became utterly distracted with Keown art. Here's a link to the page: https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/frank-miller-and-bob-wiacek-marvel-team-up-100-story-page-6-spider-man-and-karma-original-art-marvel-1980-/a/7166-92024.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515 Jose Luis Garcia Lopez Batman Legends of the Dark Knight #20 cover. Jose has been known as an artists' artist for a long time but his art speaks to a much wider audience with all of the work he's done for DC/Warner Bros licensed products, T-shirts, etc he should be a household name by now. This cover ends the introduction of the 'Venom' storyline to the DC universe. Yes, the same 'venom' that Bane uses whenever he needs to be supercharged with 'roid rage. https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/jose-luis-garcia-lopez-legends-of-the-dark-knight-20-cover-batman-original-art-dc-1991-/a/7166-92103.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515 Mike Kaluta the Shadow #2p19 with the Shadow, carnival freaks, bondage, etc. all taking place on a train. Kaluta totally captured the pulp era on this page. https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/michael-w-kaluta-the-shadow-2-page-19-original-art-dc-1973-/a/7166-92128.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515 George Perez Inhumans #2 half splash. I've seen a few Perez Inhumans pages here and there over the past few years. I like George's artwork, but never quite enough to pull the trigger on an Inhumans page. This one's kind of neat, with the team defeated at the hands of Blastaar and whatnot, but also shortly after the SDCC trailer. Curious to see if this recent spotlight will have any affect on demand/price to OA as it has with the comics. https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/george-perez-and-fred-kida-the-inhumans-2-story-page-2-original-art-marvel-1975-/a/7166-92194.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515 Bernie Wrightson Swamp Thing #7p4 Batman appearance. No Swamp Thing on this page, just Bruce Wayne and Batman in two panels. Even though the Batman images are really small on this page, I find them quite impactful, especially the last panel...it totally makes the page! https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/bernie-wrightson-swamp-thing-7-story-page-4-batman-original-art-dc-1973-/a/7166-92254.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515
  2. 1990's should be called the 'gimmick age' as a reflection of all the chrome, prismsa-Foil, die-cut, chase, and variant covers introduced during the era. an alternate would be the 'Dark Age' as a reflection of the popularity and explsion in titles for characters with a shady morale compass. Some such as Wolverine, Punisher and Ghost Rider were introduced previously, but really came into their own during the nineties: ghost rider re-launch + reprint series + story arcs in MCP and guest appearances galore. Punisher in his own title + punisher war journal + punisher war zone+ punisher POV+ guest appearances galore. And Wolverine, well, too much to list here. But there was also Deathstroke, Spawn, and a host of others to boot.
  3. San Diego has come and gone and the Heritage Summer Auction is in full swing. Looks like there's another stellar batch of OA up for grabs, assuming your wallet can survive the onslaught of 'gotta have it' goodies. I'm tracking approximately half of the 600+ OA lots this time, and there's some really fun pieces I'd love to own (but probably won't be able to outbid my fellow OA fanatics): Lots of Buscema art in this auction. Of all the examples offered, I like the Buscema Thor 197 complete interiors. Just in time for the movie hype, how cool would it be to own a complete Buscema Thor issue, with killer splash page: https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/john-buscema-and-vince-colletta-thor-197-complete-21-page-story-original-art-marvel-1972-total-22-items-/a/7166-92057.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515 There's quite a bit of Byrne art in this auction too, and being a Spidey guy, I like the ASM 206 half splash, mainly because of the (ahem) jovial banter between Spidey and my hero, J Jonah Jameson Here's the linky: https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/john-byrne-and-gene-day-amazing-spider-man-206-page-30-original-art-marvel-1980-/a/7166-92064.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515 Last auction contained a Jill Thompson Sandman stripper page, and another page from the same issue is offered in this auction, from the Brief Lives storyline with lots of Sandman and Ishtar. https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/jill-thompson-and-vince-locke-sandman-v2-45-story-page-19-original-art-dc-vertigo-1993-/a/7166-92235.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515 Dave Cockrum X-Men 94 page. Pretty neat stuff there. https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/dave-cockrum-and-bob-mcleod-x-men-94-story-page-3-original-art-1975-/a/7166-92074.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515 Jeff Jones Psyche illo. Nice page with three intriguing images by a master. https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/jeff-jones-psyche-pin-up-illustration-original-art-c-1970-80s-/a/7166-93391.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515 Romita Jr Hulk 611 wrap around cover featuring Hulk vs Hulk (OK, Hulk vs son of Hulk, but a powerful cover to behold!). https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/john-romita-jr-and-klaus-janson-incredible-hulk-611-wraparound-cover-original-art-marvel-2010-/a/7166-92218.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515 Sienkiewicz Lunatik #2 painted cover featuring the Avengers. I like the muted colors on this one and it doesn't hurt to have the Avengers on the cover, too. https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/bill-sienkiewicz-lunatik-2-cover-avengers-original-art-marvel-1996-/a/7166-92227.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515 Kubert Star Spangled War Stories #138page. There's something alluring about a Kubert Enemy Ace page. This one's no exception, and even though Enemy Ace is only featured in a few panels, the POV style of story telling really works on this page. Its a beauty! https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/joe-kubert-star-spangled-war-stories-138-story-page-7-enemy-ace-original-art-dc-1968-/a/7166-92155.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515 Ditko Strange Tales 141 page. Don't see too many Dr Strange pages by Ditko (where are they hiding?), but this one's got Dormammu, The Ancient One, and Strange. What's not to like? https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/steve-ditko-strange-tales-141-story-page-8-doctor-strange-original-art-marvel-1966-/a/7166-92088.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515 Good luck to all bidders and sellers. I have to go to the bank now and get an LoC.
  4. The classic Archie/Betty/Veronica love triangle permeated throughout those issues.
  5. Thanks for the link, SquareChaos. I was able to confirm this is the published Lex Luthor pinup from DC's Rogues Gallery, published in 1996. ?
  6. Ok, so it looks I finally managed to upload the image. Anyone have any idea if/where it was published?
  7. Sorry, the photo was included in a text and I don't seem to be able to post the image because it is formatted. Will try later
  8. Howdy, folks. I'm posting this topic because I need help from collectors better versed with Bill's work. I've done some internet searches in hope of identifying if/where this piece was published, but haven't been able to match this piece thus far. ive reached out to Bill and he's confirmed its his artwork, but he doesn't recall anything else about it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  9. The FF haven't been relevant for 30 years. Where you been all this time?
  10. So, it seems like the general line of thinking is that OA prices realized for this auction were on the upper end/ above upper end expectations. just wondering if the results would have been even higher if these pieces were offered on a more user-friendly auction site?
  11. It's not annoying and you don't have to drop your position, just understand there are differences between the way clink and say, a live heritage auction operates and that's basically it.
  12. Clink's auction format lends itself the sniping approach so it only makes sense that people will wait until the last 5 or 10 seconds to bid their max. i think a lot of money was left on the table by inaccessibility to the site for some auctions and I'm certain several bidders were just waiting to snipe so clink is doing the right thing by re-opening these auctions
  13. prior clink Ward auctions with similar quality pieces as the ones that closed yesterday sold for higher. youre correct about the Ward's on HA selling for higher, however they are nicer and more appealing and deserved the higher prices
  14. Just a few random thoughts regarding some pieces/prices that were interesting to me: Adams Tec 400 page = 9.4K. Seemed like a good purchase to me. Andru ASM pages = Lower end of FMV Brown Avengers 114p19 = $700. Kind of cheap perhaps, for 1st full Mantis issue. Byrne x-men 109= 17K. This is where Alpha Flight and Wolverine's mysterious origin begins. I would have thought a Canucklehead or two would have pushed this beyond $20K? Cho hulk/she hulk cover= 3.9K. I'm not a follower of Cho's art but it seems like prices for his work continue to decline. keown hulk page = 2.1K. This is only the second time that a Keown panel page has sold publicly for over $2K. The first time was earlier this year on HA. Interesting result for this page. Andy Kubert Wizard 175 cover = $1.4K. Cheap, I think. Jimenez Xmen Liberators #1 cover =2.9k. It's a nice looking cover, reminiscent of Mcfarlanes marvel tales cover, but I really made note of it because it's the most I've seen a Jimenez cover sell for. Ken Kelly Conan painting = $2K. Great image, size and published, too! All this for a measly $2K? Congrats to the buyer! maguire JLI page = $200. Yes, $200 for this awesome page from the very memorable giffen/dematteis/Maguire run! Bwah ha haa! Ploog planet of the apes half splash = $450. Well below FMV. No monkeying around at this auction, I guess. ? Sienk NM demon bear pages. Not surprised at the prices, but perhaps a bit surprised at the gap in price between the two pages Silvestri Avengers Assemble 1 variant cover (pencils only)=9.1K. This one seemed like a big number to me, but I really don't follow Silvestri's modern art prices so is this in line with current prices? starlin IM 55 Drax splash = 44.8k. Yowza! bill Ward art... prices definitely on the decline for his work. BWS machine man panel page = $7.5K. Mamma Mia!
  15. Huge spidey images? Black costume? Morbius? I can see how many people would be interested at this price point
  16. I wasn't concerned with their productivity nor volume of material they produced during their Image careers. That wasn't the content of your previous email.
