  1. This may sound crazy, but I have zero interest in a Jim Lee commission. However, I would pay double Jim Lee’s current asking price for a McFarlane commission
  2. Actually, it can be real estate. Back in the 80’s, a magazine called Comics Collector (A Krause publication- they published The Comics Buyers Guide), noted a transaction whereby a bank facilitated the exchange of a house for a few comic books. I don’t recall which comics were included in the deal other than a very high grade of ‘Tec 28

  6. Hi, Socrates...I knew you were interested...glad you didn't pay this much.
  7. To be fair, I’ve made a few of my own quests public: a McSpidey cover and early Hobgoblin covers. Neither has led to tangible results, but I do believe this is where I learned the true definition of ‘aspirational pricing’, based upon what I was offered
  8. The description doesn’t indicate that it’s from David
  9. The ASM 379 cover price was a surprise, but it was part of the very popular Maximum Carnage crossover storyline and I believe a well-known collector is trying to assemble all of the covers, much as he was/is well known for trying to put together ASM 328. Hence, I suspect a lot of punishment bids were included in the final price. Additionally, you don't see too many covers with Spidey, Carnage, Venom, Demogoblin and others together. Wolverine #7 cover was a significant increase from its $9.5K sale in 2012. I was thinking $90K. This Miller Cap cover is interesting for a few reasons...early Punisher, classic cover image IMHO, yet to me it is and isn't Miller and I can't quite put my finger on the reason. I like McLeod inks, but perhaps its not the best fit for Miller? Similar to the MK12 cover that sold on CC for $47K this week...I like the image, but I think Milgrom's inks threw it off for me. Regarding valuation, folks are throwing out some big guestimates here and I'm not sure if it will crack $200K, but I'm going to enjoy watching the ride.
  10. Generally speaking, they have been stronger in the recent past.
  11. There are numerous examples of Sal and John's work hammering for well below FMV in this auction, especially for items that ended Sunday. Nobody commented on Kirby prices, but I thought that prices on several pieces were soft...not sure if some of this can be attributed to auction fatigue and/or the recent change in auction format but it is noticeable.
  12. Thought the Trimpe Hulk 181 cover recreation was an interesting purchase at $25K.
  13. Yeesh! Given todays auction prices, I’ll be bidding on Sunday!
  14. The Bagley ASM cover just went bananas...Socrates, was that you?
  15. Ending tonight, starting at approximately 7PM Eastern (New York) time
  16. Oh, the stories I could tell to the contrary...
