  1. recent additions/image uploads... Anyone else notice the amount of artwork from 'pedigree collections' in this auction - Mandel, Kitchen and Palmer?
  2. I'm not a DC OA collector, but I'd say this is pretty significant
  3. Hi, all i was notified by Heritage that they were working on scanning and uploading all 17 pages. However, they are not able to complete the task in a timely manner and removed the lot from the auction. as soon as they confirm the rescheduled date for this lot, I will let you know on this thread.
  4. 😂 I enjoy seeing this every single day of my life…it’s even better in person
  5. 277 treated us to a rare glimpse of Vess’ masterful take on Spidey. Although his body of work in Spidey is very limited, I place Vess among the top 5 Spidey artists of all time.
  6. I appreciate your response to my posts here and I assure you that I advertise my auctions with full transparency in the art for sale section. Always.

  8. Hi, all; I've consigned the complete 17 page story colour guides for Detective Comics #471, written by Steve Englehart, Penciled by Marshall Rogers and hand-painted by Jerry Serpe, with additional colour updates by Marshall Rogers when the story was reprinted in the 1980's Shadow of the Batman mini-series (Baxter paper). For whatever reason, Heritage chose to pile all 17 pages on top of one another for a crowded group shot and I feel it doesn't do the lot justice (Splash, Boss Thorne, Silver St. Cloud, Batman in Action, Monster Men, return of Hugo Strange, Batman ID revealed!), so I've attached additional pics to better highlight the published splash page, and pages with Batman and other key characters in the story. Here's the link to the lot at auction: Jerry Serpe Detective Comics #471 Complete 17-Page Story Production | Lot #46258 | Heritage Auctions (ha.com)
  9. Giordano Batman Calendar page...sold on HA last month for $7.8K, now available on Panel Page for $12.5K
  10. Not surprisingly, we don't collect the same artwork. It happens.
  11. He was great to work with...very very timely, very professional and delivered everything we agreed upon. Didn't try to increase the price, even though he decided to do extra work on the piece. Shipping was very reasonable and the packaging was bullet-proof. Will gladly do business again.
  12. I speak about this a lot with my close circle of OA collecting friends, and it should come as no surprise to anyone on this message board - the number of auctions has ballooned to several multiples from just a few years ago. Clink, ComicConnect, Hake's, etc. all have their big quarterly auctions, and some also have intermittent auctions, too. But most of the attention has gone to Heritage, with their Signature auctions every 3 months, plus International OA auctions, Archie OA auctions, and who can forget the myriad of Garfield auctions we've come to anticipate? Submissions for the aforementioned HA auctions have been increasing, and the durations of the auctions have become weekend marathons, with several folks mentioning the auctions take far too long and they sometimes 'tune out'. Well, it seems as though Heritage has received word because their weekly auction offerings seem to be improving in quality (breadth, depth of offerings). The past weeks' auction was pretty good, and the current weekly auction has art by a bunch of great artists of interest to most of us. Not sure if this plan is short-term to enhance interest in the weekly auctions or reduce the offerings/duration for their Signature auctions (or both!), but there seems to be some very nice art and good deals flying under the radar (some mention of this was noted by another OA member in a different thread). So, if you have some money handy, now may be a great time to pick up a decent piece. Thoughts? P.S. For full transparency, I have consigned one lot in this weeks' HA auction, which I will highlight soon in the OA Marketplace section.
  13. Based on the inking, can anyone determine the year of the unpublished pinup? for example, is it possible that it was intended for publication as the ASM #3 pinup, but rejected for one reason or another? Or was this piece illustrated later, perhaps as a pinup for Annual #1?
  14. Next Jim Davis/Garfield auction is July 11th.
  15. Looks like we're in for a treat with this upcoming auction...so many pieces from diverse genres, artists, and budgets. Now at nearly 900 OA lots, including this recently added beauty!
  16. Yeah, and it was already published way before ASM #700, as the back cover to the Official Marvel Index to The Amazing Spiderman #1 (1985)
  17. Quite timely, considering the current Gang War crossover storyline in ASM, DD and other Marvel Titles 😃
  18. So, did the non-story pages =10 in total? therefore 38 of story plus 10 pages of ads, letters columns, etc = 48 pages. Right?
  19. Thanks! Happy to see that HA took up my recommendation to identify pieces from the Mandel collection
  20. As of today, Feb 17, there are 750 OA lots listed in this auction. I don't know if more will be listed but I am curious as to which ones, if any, are consigned by Dave Mandel. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
