You usually see an indentation on the cover from the staples but sometimes the staples start to pop through. It usually starts with a pinhole size break and it may get worse. So, I would say it depends on the degree/severity of this flaw. I thinkCGC is lenient on this flaw but if it starts to break paper they will probably downgrade.

I sent in my Invaders king size thinking it would be an easy 9.6...was I wrong. It came back CGC 9.0. Grader's note read "slit on front cover, top staple" or something close to that.

Attention all "newbish" posters.  This is how you should respond when other members are ribbing you a little.  Getting all butt hurt and defensive does nothing but chum the waters in here.  Hats off to Ovrclck for rolling with it and having fun.(thumbsu

Are their versions with a white UPC box? If so, whats the deal with the yellow?

When collecting this Newsstand Edition version, be sure to note the yellow color of the UPC code on these copies — this is important to know because there are also copies out there with a white UPC code.  Here’s the story on those:  book stores, interestingly enough, did not receive copies out of the newsstand edition print run for this comic.  (The reason I say “interestingly enough” is because in the later years of Marvel’s newsstand distribution just before it ended in 2013, book stores were the only place you could still find Marvel newsstand edition comic books; yet in this case with Image and Spawn Batman the book stores got copies out of the direct edition print run with the rigid card stock cover).  The white UPC codes were not actually part of the paper itself; instead, the copies sent out to book stores got a white stickerwhich contained the UPC code and was affixed to the back cover.

Nice pickup on that spawn batman. Keep an eye out for the newsstand editions with yellow UPC. Cool to collect.

Neal Adams for $3? All day son!

Maybe I should place a couple IH181's to soak up any fluid when doing my next build (leak test)

I predict massive disappointment for Ovrclck in the near future when he receives the normal copy of ASM 93 that's in all the pictures rather than the ASM 78 error he thought he bought.

Also, I wonder what makes that back cover "from a DC book" and how an average issue could possibly have a "double back cover" (which obviously implies that it's not just a regular double cover).

    Looking forward to it!

Yes. The first image in the thread is ASM 93's splash. The second comparative image is ASM 78. So I'm confused. A book can't have two backs and one front.  Can we see a picture of the front cover of the book you've bought @Ovrclck

I need way more info and pics

I'll update the thread once the book gets in my hands. Sorry for the confusion guys! Just super stoked.

can someone explain this to me how can you have 2 back covers one front cover?

I think the front cover on this particular book is doubled.  Default ad from another one depicts a different ad

    Fingers crossed!
