  1. "The RON and the Ron-ettes" .... nope my vote is "Chris, Ron & Lil' Ron" Am I the only guy in the hobby that isn't a doctor or a lawyer?!? I should have hit the books harder and now I'd be a cover/slash guy instead of a panel page guy ; )
  2. Another fun and well hosted podcast Felix, HOWEVER you are slipping a little... I believe this podcast just had one quick mention on the Dark Knight Returns ; ) Ever consider an on topic show focusing on one artist (.ie Frank Miller)? Felix Lu, Scott Williams and Dave Mandel talking Daredevil, Ronin, Dark Knight and their Miller art would be a fun show. If it went well, Neal Adams, John Buscema, Jack Kirby, and my favorite - John Byrne could be potentially as fun shows as well, with passionate collectors talking about their favorite artists! Or just keep doing what you are doing your podcasts are outstanding!!! I like the Chicago guys, those type of friendships keep the hobby fun. They mentioned their DAY trip to Comic Art Con, that seems to be very common. I went to the last Comic Art Con and finally put a lot of faces with screen names but, after the con everybody bolted! I was thinking how fun it was going to be to talk shop with all the veterans of the hobby after the show, but just about everyone turned to vapor. They probably just wanted to shake the new guy and head to a major party in Albert's luxury suite, having a ball trading Kirbys and Ditkos like there was no tomorrow! Steve
  3. Good job, you got a deal! That is a couple of well drawn pieces of history. I would stay this Galactus storyline is one of his best!! Congrats!!!
  4. Agreed, definitely think many collectors would be more interested in one, but the cost of the pair may be too much to even consider throwing their hat in the ring.
  5. Dunno, somehow I missed it earlier in the week, I just saw it with an hour left. Then I couldn't find a auction start date listed. Could it have been less than a 7 day listing?
  6. John Byrne's X-Men 115 DPS Wolverine vs Sauron would take my collection! Of course, it would not be a fair trade for it's owner. I would call it a day and never buy another piece after reaching that mountain top!
  7. I waited to post till after the auction to be fair to those bidding on it. Two nice pages from Byrne historic Galactus story just ended, they sold as a pair for a even 10k. Seemed low to me... any thoughts? Here's the link to the completed auction: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fantastic-Four-244-pgs-4-5-Galactus-1982-Signed-art-by-John-Byrne-/362030038865?hash=item544aabff51:g:LZYAAOSw3h1ZXXcZ
  8. Mike thanks for uploading all those killer photos (109 pics) on CAF: http://www.comicartfans.com/galleryroom.asp?gsub=11513 Congrats on such a cool and successful event, I now have to order one of those programs!!! It must be a trip to see your collection so nicely displayed and filling up all that space in the gallery! Does this event plant the seed for the "Mike Burkey's AMAZING SPIDER-MAN Museum"? Steve
  9. Appreciate all the photos Mike, it looks like a good time was had by all. Glad the Romitas had a chance to enjoy the heartfelt appreciation of John's fans. He's an incredible artist and deserves every compliment! You're a good man Mr Burkey!!
  10. What a tangled mess we find ourselves in while acquiring pages we really covet, sorry for your 2002 experience. The waiting for a deal to unwind itself to a final conclusion can be painful. So happy that you eventually pushed through the mess to get your page. I suppose at the end of the day it's what art brings the biggest feeling of joy and satisfaction is the most important. With the realization that the quest is next to impossible, the trading of these pages for ones that are more impactful to you makes total sense. Steve
  11. Mike, thanks so much for documenting this event for those of us who can't make the trip! I can't wait to see the video. I'd love to hear what Mr. Romita has to say -what a great contribution he made to the field of comics! Steve
  12. Scott, If ever there is a radio play of the Jack Kirby story, I want you to be the voice of Jack. Based on the Kirby interviews I've heard online, you've nailed both his voice and personality! Thanks for sharing your recollections and thanks to Felix for conducting the interview, that was great fun! Steve
