  1. “LF Fellow Younger Collectors To Connect With” to quote Ben Kenobi ”we aren’t the collectors you’re looking for” TikToc ... that reminds me I need to wind my pocket watch. What am I doing holding my watch... am I early or late. Hey where’s my meds. Honey there’s a young guy on the steps, says he’s looking for young collectors. Sorry friend, there hadn’t been young collectors since... well since... honey what was I talkin bout... Oh yeah... since we were young collectors
  2. Nice work guys, good for you for using your time wisely... go forth and create.
  3. For the sellers once you back out all the HA fees and pay Uncle Sam his cut of the seller’s profit. It really takes a massive bite out of these big auction numbers.
  4. This thread prompted me to buy the Dragons Lair game for the iPhone. Had a good time playing it. For the investor types on the board it produced a much better ROI, being that I spent $4.99 this time to finish the game. I’m sure it took more like $40 to finish it the first go around in ‘83 (at the Barrel of Fun).
  5. You know the saddest part of the cover alteration was that it was done with little or no artistic care or finesse. Looks like the previous owner used a fork to cut out the velum. I doubt he did a minute of research as to the what was best archival glue to use to attach his shreds of paper to the fine Kubert art. Let this be a cautionary tale.... RESPECT THE ART! I would say the previous owner is an investor/flipper no way could he be an art lover and do this : (
  6. Thanks! For that, I will step aside on any and all Phantom Stranger pages!
  7. Killer page, really enjoy seeing how great Paul Smith drew these characters expressing emotion...masterful! Paul is second to Byrne as my all time favorite X-Men artist. He brought a certain gracefulness to the character’s poses and also to his linework...WOW!
  8. PS I’m glad Burkey shifted his focus away from Wolverine... leaving a bit of Wolvie art for the rest of us... SNIKT!!!
  9. Another good show. For those of us who been in the hobby for a while but not regular convention goers, it’s cool to get to know the big players a bit better. Kinda like Felix’s podcast it brings the community just a little bit closer. For example after Felix’s interview Albert Moy, I heard his stories and when I had a chance to talk with him at a Dallas show it was very pleasant and I actually had a conversation jumping off point thanks to the podcast. The same will hold true next time I speak with Burkey and who ever shows up at the next comic art con. This is really good for the hobby and I’m sure it will help the guys bottom line... by letting other collectors know them and feel comfortable approaching them with possible trades or consignments. Keep up the good work guys and enjoy the 4th.. PLEASE keep the comic art away from the fireworks!
  10. Another good episode! Burkey needs to lock the door, some dude just come wondering in right in the middle of the episode ; ) Jon is a live wire, one can only imagine how wild his San Diego Comic Con stories get! Thanks guys, these are very entertaining!
  11. I think it’s official GreatEscape has just started a trend!!! I bet the next art con you’ll see some dealers put some pieces in this system. It would definitely help the dealers stand out from the pack, I know I would stop and take notice!
  12. The Adams Storm piece is a wonderful addition! He has been consistently great for a looooong time!
  13. Hopefully in the future the inker will type a notification in non repo blue on the bottom of the page. “hand drawn inks by John Doe over blue line printout out of John Smith’s pencils.” Until this starts to happen there will a lot of be people buying what they think is 100% original art when in reality it’s 50% original 50% printout. In my opinion it’s on the inkers to straighten this mess out. Telling the buyer isn’t the same because during the next transaction of the page that info isn’t going to be revealed 100% of the time. Inkers need to make sure it’s physically indicated on the art.
  14. I am most interested in the penciler. He is the one who faced the blank page and tamed that beast! This is doesn’t diminish the inkers contribution. I definitely understand how hard it is to produce good quality inks, inkers need to be appreciated... I love inkers I am impressed with what they can do, but for me at the end of the day it feels like less than original art, it is more like ”almost original art”... because the most important part... the initial artistic creation is not original. What I would love for inkers that are inking over printouts to do is- in the same repoblue ink type a description of the process at the bottom space of the page. “John Smith’s original inks over a digital printout of Jim Smith’s pencils” This would help future purchasers to know exactly what the are buying without having to track down the inker or the rep to find out how original I the original art is.
  15. You might want to add Perez to your list, it was just one issue but the artwork from his X-Men annual was very nice!
  16. That is great to know, I already have a flight booked. I definitely will introduce myself, meeting the guys in the hobby is just about the best part of the cons. I'll be the guy in the green foam Gumby suit... it is a cosplay c-list movie star show right?
  17. I sent Zaddick a PM through CGC few few days ago, asking about the status of the NYC Comic Art Expo, since the site doesn't seem to be active and haven't heard anything. I didn't receive a reply back. Does anyone know if the show is still on? Any info would be helpful, trying to see if I may need make alternate travel plans to a different convention.
  18. Mike- Save me a parking spot, I would be so there!
  19. I couldn't get the website link I had to work, is the show still on, any more show details?
  20. I think you did get a lot of bang for your buck with this purchase! Tough to beat the content and the art is pretty rock solid. I was late to appreciate Dave's art but it has steadily grown on me over the years, so much so, that I will probably pick up a 2nd run X-Men piece before all is said and done. Hey I said I like Dave's art, but not at first run prices like it ; )
  21. I agree with Rick2you2 well UNLESS the punishment bids are happening on a piece I'm selling, then it's less frowned upon. Pieces I'm interested in - NO PUNISHMENT BIDS Pieces I'm selling - PUNISH THOSE BUYERS - but not on my behalf - shilling is ALWAYS BAD!
  22. Wolverine and Colossus charging at the viewer. I can’t image how Jack would have drew the new X-Men but I know it would be great.
  23. And then there are professional inkers that ink copies of other artist's con sketches and don't note that it's an inked copy on the actual sketch, so after it changes hands a few times it will be sold as a sketch by artist X inked by inker Y.
  24. What shook me was a con sketch that I thought was a fake was for sale on ebay. A fan went to the artist's site and asked him if it was real, I was certain he would dog it as a bad forgery, but instead he gave it his blessing, looked legit to him! Then there was the time a sketch I had for years in my collection was posted FS on ebay. I sent the seller a detailed scan of a section, showing the underdrawing and washy brush stokes on the sketch. He claimed he must have been scammed and took the auction down.
