  1. I had an item that sold via best offer and then the buyer reneged. I had listed it under a promotion. The transaction was cancelled. I re-listed and edited it to remove the promotion (unchecked the box). When I look at the listing it is still reading as promoted. No matter how many times I change it I cannot get rid of the promotion. What the heck is going on???
  2. Isn't ebay dumping paypal? Ought paypal be trying to find ways to be relevant? They are not the only game in town.
  3. I saw something that looked good on FB marketplace, but would involve a drive to NJ, and I KNOW the reasonable # being quoted for the pile of decent comics would change by the time I got there. Even with the distance shots the pile definitely looks worth the amount demanded (plus the drive). But if they suddenly want $500, I am out gas and tolls and 6 hours of my life.
  4. I guess the lack of a response confirms my fears. It is a nice set up, but the people running it have not done what is needed to generate eyeballs. A real shame.
  5. Let me guess, the day it came out you bought every single copy from every newsstand in the DC metropolitan area? And you haggled the newsstand owners down to $1.50 a copy? :-)
  6. Anyone have any new thoughts on this site? They have almost 500,000 comics listed, although nearly 1/2 are from newkadia. the site is dominated by 3 or 4 stores. Based on the #s of feedbacks (understanding not every transaction results in feedback), it seems like a lot of listings for not that many sales. like I sell as many books a month listing 100-150 items on ebay as a seller with a 10,000 item store does there. It looks like a nice platform and a $5 a month store with 10,000 listings sounds awesome, but if very few people are buying, it is pointless to spend the time populating a store there. I have dreams of my son running a store there where I could park less expensive stuff that is not a good fit on ebay where I don't want to waste precious store listings on $2 comics.
  7. I guess I could spend Saturday mornings driving around and inspecting collections. OTOH I have about 30,000 comics already and would like to sell about 27,000 of them.
  8. dude on facebook marketplace has graciously offered his collection of "mostly marvels" to me for $650. I have yet to be provided with (1) how many books are involved; (2) titles; (3) age or any of the above as the picture was meaningless. Are we in a world where everyone thinks a random pile of drek is worth $650 and they need not bother describing it? As I had not heard back from him for 2 weeks my guess is that some other people have looked at his pile and offered him $6.50, so he figures 100X that is FMV.
  9. I am kidding. But at least those price tags may have put him in a favorable state of mind to a modest offer vs. FMV.
  10. I assume you made us all proud and told him those $12.00 sticker prices were about right, but the $45.00 sticker price (I am reading it as not being $4500) on the GS XMen 1 was way high and it is a $20 book?
  11. Yup. They are closed now due to a massive rent increase. The thing is I don't think he could have sold that book for $10 on his wall despite it being an easy $15-25 ebay book then. His clientele was very much standard super hero stuff, walking dead, etc. And he didn't look everything up on eBay. Thank goodness! The Hughes variant I dont get because i assume that was not cheap on the rack ever. Just a mistake. And I happily was not paying attention otherwise I would have sold it fir $25 years ago. In recent years he was missing less stuff though.
  12. I bought about 25 copies of albedo 3 (2d usaji) out of my lcs 3 for $2 box over the course of a month a long time ago. Not particularly uncommon, but was a nice $20-25 re-list every week.
  13. I feel like karma would remove all the center wraps on them if I tried to squeeze another $1 off the price.
  14. Well, I will often buy some less prime stuff too in order to deemphasize the good stuff. I don't want them looking at 3 cherry picked books and deciding maybe they should do some research.
  15. Agreed. You need to be inspired. Can't be going through the motions. I find it very hard to paint (I am a more mediocre illustrator) when I have 27 things stressing my out and nowadays I always have 27 things stressing me out.
  16. Just buy a buch of alter ego back issues. They run tons of interesting articles that could inspire you.
  17. I found three of these in my garage along with 20 copies each of elfquest new blood 11 and 20 (dunno what to do with these)...
  18. There are 4 on eBay. One is $15 with free shipping. So, not a common book, but not a lot of demand this minute. Tons of 1st series 8s, not so much this series.
  19. Cheap to churn out for the publisher and someone can read an otherwise expensive comic cheap. Was in a shop with my kids and tbe youngest picked tve $1 swamp thing 1 reprint and batman 497 reprint. Was I going to say no?
  20. I am looking 9.0 raw or certified or better. Not high expectations. A lot of 3 termite chewed copies just sold for $20. I would have bought them.
