  1. Trying to bankrupt me via bidding war? My heart cries. Or maybe that's just a pesky valve blockage.
  2. 15 years ago the cost of slabbing a maybe VF SS 1 didn't necessarily make sense. And a lot of people just don't have the cash to lay out for these things, that's why they are selling books.
  3. My son likes comics so long as I am buying them for him. Unclear if he will spend his own money on them when he is 30. One of my main shops is near a high school. Frankly, not that many kids come in. But it is not really in a very residential area. Very few actually. With that said, more "neighborhood" shops where I live in Brooklyn certainly have the parent/child combinations coming in and buying stuff. At $4 a pop, as we have all said, it is expensive for a kid to keep up, but those same kids blow money on pokeman cards.
  4. With that said, you seem to have a group of sufficiently valuable books for which there are likely buyers out there, but not necessarily all checking things on ebay in a given week among those willing to pay the right price. mycomicshop is probably a good place to stick them, price them where you feel comfortable, and wait it out, unless you need cash quick. price them at 10-15% below GPA if need be. the only problem with MCS is that there is no best offer option, so if you have a buyer, but your price is high, but you would negotiate, you may never find that buyer.
  5. Just looking at recent sales, they seem to be selling for others.
  6. "NYX #4 CGC 9.8" Seems like a book you could easily get $210-$230 for on ebay, why sell it to a dealer for 40% off?
  7. And you can't get a quick 2/3 of GPA selling them here or do you not want to deal with 20 individual sales? (I have no idea what these books are worth, but if there are bonafide GPA numbers, I guess that should matter...or are they numbers for one sale? The sig series books might not have much data.)
  8. The fact that it is my go to coaster...(although I have 2 more in mint condition for when this one falls apart)... I actually have a Spider-Man mug, but my wife made the tea, so I wasn't in charge of grabbing it. How would tea make anyone a nerd? I am not normally a big hot tea drinker, but when I am sick and my throat is a wreck, I am. Herbals stuff, usually out of a box with a picture of a bear wearing a sleeping cap or some such nonsense, mixed with some earl grey or orange pekoe (aka Lipton) for flavor. I was also drinking hot bone broth I had been cooking up for 15 hours from Thanksgiving turkey carcass and some frozen chicken bones. A manly man's drink.
  9. Drinking my hot tea for my sore throat and using an avengers vs. X-men coaster in the process
  10. Mid 80s direct vs.newsstand is not a real issue generally. Some books maybe, and there is always an argument that directs will tend to be in better shape on average, but plenty of newsies were getting printed then. At least marvel. I almost never saw Dc at newsstands, but that could be regional.
  11. I assumed incorrectly this expired at 8 Pacific time given ebay usually operates on Pacific, but I was wrong
  12. Were you planning on using it with multiple sellers?
  13. Dang, I just paid yesterday on a $150 item ...ahgg the invoice was over $300...
  14. He actually isn't on the left on many issues.
  15. Spiderman cartoon came out in 1967. He was not so obscure. As for comedians on comic books, this is obviously something you have subject matter expertise on and have devoted a great deal of thought to. I have never noticed a comic book reference other than seinfeld, which was positive, but I am half brain dead, so I miss a lot.
  16. There have now been 6 spiderman movies in the last 20 years. Folks may have accidentally seen one or part of one.
  17. Maher was 10 in 1966. He was right there for prime marvel. He just did not/does not care for it.
  18. I once got an asm 300 for $3 in a upick um. I had to buy 2 other 80s spideys for $3 each, but they were decent hobgoblin issues.
  19. He didn't realize he was selling you a $200+ book? Heck. It has been a $50+ book for a long while.
  20. Please do not equate my minty Thor 339s with your waterlogged literature.
  21. How would that survive on eBay? Or did they come with 1,000 copies of turok 1, which also cost a buck each?
  22. Maher has bemoaned the volume of comic book movies and, yes, in some sense they muscle other stuff off the movie screen. My wife cannot stand them either (other than wonder woman) and it isn't like she is not into GOT, WD, Supernatural, etc., just hates super heroes.
