  1. UHG. What was this thing about them automatically lowering your prices? You have to opt out of that? I see they still give 50 free listings, which is nice.
  2. Mine was not such an obvious or intentional mullet. I had nasty heavy metal long hair that got a bit unmanageable for sports and I tried (poorly) to trim it a bit myself and it wound up bad and I went with that for a while. And then I scraped up $10 and got a real hair cut.
  3. Fun! But is "Triump" a play on Trump or just a typo?
  4. What critical bits of new stupidity have they implemented on ebay since I last sold 12 months ago? (I am too lazy and stupid to research this myself.) I took a sabbatical to make sure any hot books I had back then cooled off. Apparently Old Man Logan ain't all that anymore, eh?
  5. Is there something special about the Youngbloods and Wildcats?
  6. OK, this is not mine, but one of my cousins in France, she does these large incredibly detailed pen and ink pieces, they are really amazing:
  7. Jeez, I was going to dig up a picture of me circa 1989 and now I see you want comic mullets
  8. The price you had on the #1 in hindsight sounds about right on the money. 20% less than the hammer price a year later adjusts for fees, etc and some appreciation.
  9. Captain underpants, wimpy kid, dog man.. I guess your kids are old for these. My just turned 7 year old is obsessed with these.
  10. My kids are ok in comic shops, but not happy when I point them to the dollar box for their purchase options rather than the full retail toys, comics, trades, and graphic novels they want me to buy. I sum, they have no concept of a bargain hunt or stretching your dollar. 35 years ago I went into a comic shop with $1 and had to stretch it as far as I could. Now they go in with me, daddy credit card.
  11. I think I would have jumped on foolkiller's offer if I had some time to prepare, that is pretty nice. One of these days I have to make it over to one of these NJ shows, but my kids have me running around with sports stuff all weekend until the weather gets lousy.
  12. No, Ms. Blob is actually very attractive. But whenever I blabber about my real estate schemes she just tells me to be quiet and focus on fixing our wreck of a house and managing to pay our bills. She has no vision for these things. Probably because I am a lot of talk and not great at doing. The other day I found out my paralegal, who makes half as much as me, owns six rental properties and will be retiring soon. He had the vision to buy $30-50,000 houses in the suburbs of Newark (East Orange) when the area was rougher and now he is basically independently wealthy.
  13. Weird, I ran multiple searches and did not see one. This time I did a search for every issue of "0" and see two, both in lots, and am not seeing what you are referring to. Do searches from different people show different stuff? Oh well, I guess I won't be retiring, although it seems fairly uncommon, at least vs. the very common regular direct version.
  14. Needless to say I feel no glee from this. If we take a 20-30% hit it is going to make life rough in my parts. On the other hand, maybe I will finally be able to buy a distressed property or three and become fred mertz.
  15. A lot of people opened the bags and then put the whole thing in a bag and board
  16. For $70 I hope it comes with a bottle of black lable! Or maybe CGC has decided to be less stingy with the 9.9s and 10s because, frankly, the possibility of getting one creates an incentive to slab many more books?
  17. Do they make a press necessary to make it a 9.8 or do they just make the # of unpressed 9.8s smaller than one would assume?
  18. I do now. It was wrong then too. It is hard to see dates when looking at this on my phone, I just tend to reply and realize later I am replying to an antiquity.
  19. I just hope my mother moved most of her's into safer pastures as we had been discussing.
  20. Well, if I had taken the $10K in last gasp increases and THEN gone into cash before the drop I would be better off. I still have 15% of my investments in the market getting hit, but am not having heart palpatations given that I got 85% out before this. I didn't do it because you were being gloomy, it was something I had been telling myself for months, I just finally pulled the trigger.
  21. OH I dunno about that, if they only give them out to 1 in 500 or 1000 or 2000 moderns (and let's assume there is no visible difference between a 9.9 and a super 9.8) it may just be the guys submitting 2000 books at once have a better shot at it?
