  1. But the number I remember was vastly more than asm 129 had ever been. Mind you, it may have hit that number because it was a really stunning 92 but I remembered reading that and thinking "wow"... Of course, being a report from am overstreer advisor, it may have been b.s. to help pimp something
  2. He is constantly singing toto's africa. Meanwhile the 6 year old can't get enough Master of puppets. (The 13 year old does like Crazy Train at least).
  3. My dim recollection is that a nice hos 92 was more expensive than a nicer asm 129 historically like in the late 90s. I vaguely remember an overstreet report where a very high grade one went triple digits pre cgc and pre ebay. Or I could be remembering it all wrong. Hos 92 isn't a newly relatively expensive book.
  4. I suppose they are slightly thicker usually, have a couple more ad pages, BUT less hard stock covers
  5. I thought the rule of thumb was that about 225 unbagged/boarded regular size issues fit in a long box, or is that too much?
  6. Some of those people checking passes are nutso. They probably have drones to nuke you if you sneak in.
  7. You haven't solved the me getting in for free part.
  8. It's funny, my 13 year old is borderline obsessed with 80s music, which I suspect isn't the "good old days" music you are thinking of.
  9. OK, now I'm kind of wishing I could go to NYCC for a day this year and be more selective than usual. But having gone for free for like the last 11 or so years I can't bring myself to pay for a badge.
  10. I would like a working fireplace in my living room and for it to be furnished comfortably for adults, rather than having $5000 worth of DC Imaginex toys, beyblades, action figures, and legos all over the place.
  11. Pretty simple. Measure or eyeball 50 comics in a stack at home. Throw in some giant sizes and annuals. Use that thickness to estimate how many comics you are looking at. And then lowball, since you apparently aren't being allowed to determine exactly what you are buying.
  12. It happens. Life gets in the way of hobbies. I am not even irritated I am missing nycc this year. Have gone every year except the first when it was freezing.
  13. I thought it should be $5-$10, which is why I bought it at $1 (maybe $2) whenever I saw it, I just didn't know it had gotten there
  14. Those detective magazines are kind of disturbing, but also intriguing...
  15. I never understood how Famous Monsters' content didn't get stale, it doesn't seem like there were enough new horror movies coming out every month during that period to fill the pages and kids in the 60s surely got tired of reading about lon chaney, but I guess with all the foreign films, maybe. I guess a lot of it was short fiction and what not?
  16. really? I thought that was a book I'd see in dollar boxes (not the newsstand), but things change
  17. I've always thought it should sell for a little bit of a premium at least. I feel like it previously did at one point.
  18. As noted, not always at different prices, but also, if sales were below a certain level there were no newsstand versions. For example, Rob Liefield liked to claim that New Mutants was almost "direct only" when he took over sales stunk so bad, or at least that's what I read 5th hand.
  19. Yeah yeah, I know, I didn't expect the decline to happen the next day, but these crashes often happen around this time of year, I just don't want to stress about it. I sill have 15% in, I probably should have kept 30% in. oh well. it's not like selling Saga 1s for $10 a pop.
  20. Why wouldn't thy? They are trying to maximize what they get for their 180s. Everyone selling 181s says its the first app too.
  21. Jeez louise all of this doom and gloom resulted in me moving most of my 401K into safer money market funds. My 401K would probably be up $10K if I had stayed put.
  22. I really want to retire. Should have become a cop. Would be done now.
