  1. only if you can get it for under $6299.00.... unfortunately, some of these comics can be expensive, but you can find decent ones for cheap! just not high grade cgc'd books! i would suggest starting with house of mystery or house of secrets or witching hour on ebay in lots for 1-3$ each...i mean find a lot of about 20, and bid 20-60$...you will win some...and sometimes you can find nice comics!...for cheap! of course there are the members of this board that have tons and are always looking to buy/sell/trade...just ask a bit...
  2. oooh, dungeon...i have one of those...do you come here often? i dunno, that is a difficult issue to find (at the right price!)...dealers always have this issue way overpriced, imho...so that auction isn't bizarre to me... it's the 9.4's (non HoS#92) that go for 350$+ that i sell raw 9.2/9.4 for 50-60$ that i find a bit crazy...
  3. Weird. I remember buying my WH #1 9.4 for $455 several years ago and sold it last year for $750. You could've bought a 9.6 for that price 2.5 years ago. Also, Witching Hours in general USED to be a bargain. Now, even 9.4s of any issue are getting strong bids in the $150+ category. I know donger is wraping up his WH collection, which is why I'm staying away from them currently. I agree that the spike in this title has been....Unexpected...but it was Destiny...for I know...because it was midnight...the witching hour. have you the nerve to escape with my lady mildred from the house you dared enter...?
  4. Man that looks like a cool house. And in New England? Rich in history and lore! Sweet! You don't happen to live in Innsmouth do you? Or Dunwich? i am in RI...but work in MA...opted for RI b/c housing prices aren't ridiculous, as they are in MA... that cardy cover which did not meet reserve(#141) gets my vote for 'worst cover by an awesome artist'...no surprise it did not meet reserve...my opinion is that it's a 4-500$ cover...at best... yes, nice cardy covers go for a bunch...spectacular ones go for more...ghosts#19 was on ebay a few weeks back and did not meet reserve, i like it enough to pay/offer in the 800-1000$ range for it...i pay more for 'better' covers...ghosts #33 was up on ebay a few months back, i bid just barely under 2k$ for it, it did not join my collection...
  5. Yeah, it sure is. Anyone know who the cover artist is? the legendary Nick Cardy !!! !! !
  6. thank you nik...stopped by the shop and picked up a bunch of reader horror/mystery comics etc. decent collection (but i was a bit too late!)... have fun at the wizard world show!
  7. i kinda agree with Sid...i do need to actively stop myself each time, from purchasing those highgrade beauties though...must not...buy!!! it hurts! i look at it as 1000$ on a comic or two, vs. pages of artwork from bronze horror/mystery (which go for 25$-150$ ish), or a cover, which can go from $400 to thousands...i'd take a dominguez cover for 4-500$ over any cgc comic in that price range with no thought at all... oh cool, we are on page 666 !! ! ! !! let me post my House of Mystery which i just closed on today!!!
  8. oh wow, i've never seen that one either...send it to me so i can read it? haha... finally got around to the books you sent, thank you... ps: i have most of the items in your Wanted section...interested in a trade or purchase? i am doing the new york show this weekend, so next week would be better if you are interested...
  9. and i believe in aliens...how about a dominguez to say goodnight...cha cha cha... (HoM #230)
  10. Wow, I never thought I would ever say I didn't like a Kaluta cover but there you go. That's hideous, IMO. aww, actually a cool story 'Picasso Fever'...i am a fan of this cover as well, it certainly doesn't have the shocking or 'scary' qualities of the great horror/mystery covers...but a decent(well, almost decent) homage to picasso and one of his artistic techniques...the story brings back memories of the time i was reading lots of these comics, and reading about art...
  11. and i believe the new guy CainTheCaretaker has a decent copy of this one...
  12. very nice comics everyone...i believe someone posted this one a few pages back... classic horror motif with the poor fellow sliced in half darth maul style...
  13. ''i collect what moves me'' don't stop! welcome to the boards, please stick around ! you have great taste! i wish i had those comics you recently won!!! do you collect artwork too?
  14. haven't been to any west of philly... i speak of the cons in ny and new england area (where i set up tables of course!) i gladly sell some of those comics in 9.2 range for 15-30$...(but i rarely give 9.4 grades)... HoM go for a bit more...those wwt really have me mystified...and some others ...but i will say i am glad there are people interested in these comics... let us know how the QP on the Swampy #7 looks in person greggy...
  15. Rook Who's Rook? At least I didn't go buy books at 10000000000x guide haha, who's rook... so, those auctions were crazy, i'm astounded. but i really wish people would buy these comics at shows and see them in person (and not pay shipping), as they can be found in the same grades, for much cheaper!!! but i guess money is no object...wow, though... sweet unexpected scans sterling!!! thanks as always!
  16. wow that fellow gets nice bids on his books!!! haha, his f/vf is most ebayers' nearsupercalifragilisticmint+ anyone have any cgc'd? how fantastic is bobcat's grading?
  17. these can be difficult to find better than 9.0...i hear... some fun covers, and another birdie cover...
  18. Not trying to be a tool myself...but can someone explain this mentality to me? I would think having a head's up would be appreciated. It's not like the auction is a secret. And if you think not posting them here will somehow make the final price less, I very much doubt it unless it's a comic buried in a pic... me, DNAgent: you very much doubt it. but, you cannot be certain, now, can you...increased exposure cannot lower final prices...but it can raise them... Maybe I'm missing something... Jim ok, here is more on why it is appreciated that folks post after auctions: auctions posted here may increase interest. auctions not posted here cannot increase interest. increased interest may be: people who normally would bid on such items, seeing it here and then increasing bidding, or of course thrill bidders. again, if auctions are not posted here, they are less likely to increase interest or bidding. so why not post after the auction, so then we can be certain about something (bidding/interest had little to do with posting the auction here). this particular auction went twice on ebay with no bids (at a higher starting price). thank you. just giving my opinion, sorry if it differs froom yours. oh, and if you get a chance, please post any/all auctions that you may be interested in bidding on. finally, others' mentality can rarely be explained. now please, back to sweet bronze horror !!!!!!!!!! (the best artwork and stories around)!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. hey, not to be a tool, but it is appreciated if folks post these auctions after they have ended (by me anyway, just sharing an opinion. of course this is a public forum, so do as you like)
  20. that is all. others are nice 7.5 and lowerrrr(one of these is actually 7.0)
