  1. First Appearance of Mon-El and a nice AC dedicated to Supergirl that will display nicely next to my statue.
  2. Some lower grade goodness. May not look the best but they're beautiful to me. And the SS4 is a personal grail I thought I'd never own.
  3. Just bought my first Deflof and am now setting it up. Now due to my OCD tendencies and when I get an idea I have to go with it I have a (1st world) problem. I like to have a book displayed next to each statue of that character. Such as my Gal Gadot signed WW next to her statue, and my Doc Strange next to his etc. I have a Supergirl statue that needs a mate. I'd like to display it with an older book preferably Bronze age or earlier. AC 252 is definitely out unless I can find a 0.5 or similar. What are some other solid SG books to display? I was thinking AC 276 or 285. Any other suggestions? Know it's a weird issue but hey what's a comic fan to do when we all get these ideas in our heads?
  4. The great hype of 1993...The Death of Superman. Had 5 of the newsstand; 10 of they poly-bagged. Went in hard. But, it was the event that really got me into collecting so I hold no grudges.
  5. It's the Diamond Select PVC Gladiator Hulk.
  6. I'd be more concerned about that lump on his leg. Better have a doctor look at that.
  7. Got my Gal Gadot signed Wondy! Considering it more of a placeholder until I can grab a photo variant, but it still looks good.!
  8. Not the greatest condition but was my first major key
  9. Bronze age, just beautiful covers. It's what got me back into the hobby. Followed by late Silver Age.
  10. I collect Autographed photos, cards, signed balls, old auction catalogs, bobble heads, game used bats. And my prized posessions a game used BJ Surhoff glove and a Milwaukee County Stadium wooden seat. I also collect old gas station signs and oil cans. And as a music lover I grab all the Rockabilly I can on vinyl. Love the look my 5 year old nephew gives me when he asks to go downstairs and play records. He fascinated by it.
  11. Thems fighting words! Don't worry the Crew will blow it on their own. They'll probably take Arrieta from you and turn him into the next Jeff Suppan, Kyle Losche, Matt Garza... In other words, they're grab a pitcher after his prime for big bucks and be stuck with them as they decline for the next 4 years or so.
  12. That's awesome. I try to collect some baseball wax as well. I have at least one wax pack from Topps from 68-80. Then a few or there. Sometimes, I want to open them but I just appreciate the art on the pack and tell myself why do away with the mystery?
  13. Hello All, Just a friendly question to get to know what some of our other passions are and where they rank. For example besides comics my big passion is collecting Baseball memorabilia. Have a great passion for America's past time and love to read about it, watch it, collect it. Have a room in my house that's dedicated to it with autograph pics and cards and the like. In contrast, my comic display is in a corner of the finished basement. But, collecting comics is overtaking my baseball collecting even though my love for the game hasn't waived (Opening Day is considered a religious holiday with me)> Have to say it's funny though as I now enjoy collecting comics more than baseball stuff. Used to love card collecting but got turned off by buying pack after pack and getting doubles, commons and nothing really worth while. I could spend $100 on a box of cards and get nothing special while that same $100 could buy me a good amount of comics both new and back issues. At least with the new issues you know what your getting. A good read and if you collect variants you know what your getting instead of the chase of finding the 25/100 card that you could spend God knows how much. I feel like my money goes farther with comics than cards/ Anyone else feel the same way?
  14. A little "Moon" action. Have to say it really looks beautiful in person.
  15. For me, it's SS 4. Absolutely love that gorgeous cover. Always considered a classic, I just want a decent copy with a presentable cover for around $100. And when I do find one, I always decide on a different book saying to myself, you'll get a copy one day. Next time I find one, I AM getting it.
  16. Got my hands on some WBN 32 over the weekend. Solid lower midgrade copy.
  17. I don't have a particular favorite per se' but out of the ones I listed above those are the ones I've had my eyes on the longest. The only book I would really ever consider that wasn't 100% complete would be IH 181 and if it were only missing the stamp. I'm not an investor so it would be for my personal collection so if it just was missing that and the price was acceptable, I'd take it. The others would all have to be 100% non restored complete.
  18. Borchert Field - a "biography" of the stadium the minor league Milwaukee Brewers called home from 1884-1952. If it's not comics, I'm reading about baseball.
  19. Well, I've "narrowed" it down so to speak. So, out of the follow which would you choose for my $500? Avengers 4 - can get about a 1.5 raw. Detective Comics 359 - A CGC 3. Silver Surfer 4 - figure I can get about a CGC 7 Werewolf by Night 32 - a 5/6 CGC Batman Adventures 12 - a CGC 9.0 Long Shots Hulk 181 - 1.0 missing the MVS Action Comics 252 - 1.0 The IH 181 and AC 252 would be great but I doubt I'd fine anything for the price I can pay.
  20. Was thinking low grade Hawkman 4 or Strange adventures 205 for first appearances of Zantana and Deadman.
  21. Thanks for suggestion but that is one of the keys I do have in about a 5
  22. I do collect comics and not looking to "invest" but I like to a wide range of books and as I mentioned something that would maintain it's value if for some reason down the road I would have to sell it. My long term hope is to pass these down to my nephews a heirlooms. What they do to them is up to them. I enjoy so many types of books I often have a hard time narrowing down what to get so I like to hear some options.
