That's what I was thinking, but the way people talk, the green label is the "label of death" for sellers.

The green label is bad for people trying to flip unwitnessed signatures or Hulk 181 with the Marvel Value Stamp cut out, but in these cases it should be fine.  A lot of people would overlook your green label TMNT, but they wouldn't have wanted one with upside down pages either way.

In pretty much every second vintage submission there is a ME label issue - so frustrating

The grader notes are available for anyone to look at:

    Grader Notes
    detached centerfold
double cover 1st cover 5.5, interior cover 6.0
    all wraps, moderate brittleness splitting
light spine stress lines to cover
    moderate creasing to cover

With a detached centerfold and splitting on all wraps, a 3.0 doesn't seem outlandish.  More than just the cover is considered in the grade.

Any restaurants or bars that people like in the area?

It's a little out of the area but Mac's Speed Shop is an excellent BBQ place.

Last time I went the RedEye Diner was on the route between the convention and my hotel; everything I had there was delicious.

Nomura's Families of Altered Wars is absolutely ambitious, even if (at least in my opinion) it doesn't always work quite as he'd probably hoped. Still, it would be immensely challenging to put together a high-grade run of the entire story. Heck, it would be moderately difficult to put together any grade run of the entire story. The last five or so issues of the first AP run (which is sort-of-technically volume 2, after the Creative Frontiers run, although that got co-branded Antarctic by the end also, and there's Legacy numbering, and...) are probably in "books you can't find in the wild" territory. There are a couple of copies of #25 currently for sale online in various places for, erm, aggressive asking prices, but to be fair, I can count the number I've seen in person on my elbows.

    This #17 is real nice.

Add in a Ninja High School crossover and I'm there for it... the best I've found of 21 so far:

I don't own a copy myself, but yes. I'm friends with a very passionate NHS fan who owns one of the signed copies. It's not as nice as this one!

Another NHS fan out there!  Excellent.  Is he or she interested in possibly buying/selling/trading NHS items?

I have another copy of this I picked up online, and it's absolutely wrecked! :sorry:  Chewed corner, stains, creases, but it's a double cover!  And yes, it's initialed.

That's an amazing copy of a simply impossible book. And it got into the wild unsigned!

Do you know if this was a subscriber copy that Ben just didn't initial somehow, or if this was a proof or file copy or something along those lines?

Basically a file copy; I got it from Ben directly a few years ago.  It was never sent to a subscriber.  Since you specified "initialed," can I assume you're familiar with this one?

  7. Just unpacked this last night: the impossibly rare NHS 70 subscriber edition!  Because of an ordering mistake, too few copies were printed to fulfil all orders so this version was made to be sent to subscribers so they could follow the story (their subscriptions were also extended to make up for it).  Copies that were sent out were signed on the back cover, but not this one...

  8. There isn't really too much here to "question"... sure there are some obvious technical errors, but minor mistakes happen everywhere.  If you see a Shadowpact 8 under a label that says Shadowpact 2, it's not too hard to figure out.  They can check the submission to see if the 8 and 2 got swapped labels or if they just mis-typed the number.

The low grade 0.5 books probably have significant damage internally, like a missing page, coupon cut out, whatever.  Turns out, you can't always accurately grade a comic from a picture of a comic in a slab.

Taking a graded comic, cracking it out, then getting it signed and regraded can result in lower grades.  Sometimes creators are rough on books.  There are videos of Todd McFarlane waving books around during his signing, but lots of people still got 9.8s back from his signing.  Sorry?

    So, what are your "questions?"

There's like a dozen proven ones out there I would hardly say a long history

Cerebus 1 and TMNT 1 are among the few comics to have a notable population of counterfeit copies, dating back decades likely due to the scarcity of authentic copies and authoritative information in the pre-internet era.  Without internet access in your pocket, it was relatively easy to pass off fake small-press comics.  They were odd sized, black and white, and too tempting to pass up if one appeared at a local hotel ballroom convention, flea market, or even LCS (since they didn't always have any better identifying information than the rest of us).  I'm not sure when TMNT 1 counterfeits first appeared, but I'm sure someone could check Copper Age back issues for ads from American Comics, New England Comics, and Mile High to find the listings.
