  1. well you're not in NYC, are you in Mexico City? I am not aware of another city in North America with more than 7 million people. (I know, I know, the greater Toronto metropolitan area, I'm kidding you!) Houston is up there. The metro area is close to the 7M mark. Google says 6.2 as of 2014.
  2. Yesterday I had a buyer actually send me a query about what the "huge scan" listed in my ad header was . He had no idea what a scan was. Honest, and everything that he wrote was in a very small margin, and I am supposing that he was using a phone. An old phone. After trying to explain what a flatbed scanner was, he actually thought for a second that I was trying to sell a picture of a comic. For $ 8.
  3. Exactly my point. I don't care what people read, what people collect, etc., but when some yahoo comes on and says the "experts" are telling newbies to "spend $80 on a crappy Modern" then I've got to toss in my 2-cents. No "expert" (unless he's an expert on crack) would recommend such a strategy. So what strategery do you recommend ?
  4. Boy, am I glad I don't even understand this goop. Goop sounds correct. I love the Bullpen being given the new assignment of "shaking things up" . Gives off vibes of the editorial staff heading to Hooter's for boobs and brews at 4 pm, and letting the writers / artists detail the future of the company, only because they are too young to participate in the brewfest.
  5. And Evans wonders why I never fire-saled the warehouse....
  6. life changing... Keep thinking , better to be safe than sorry....
  7. And maybe the seller bought his from this guy here: 1 2 3 That is hellova foresight! Yeah but really, advertising entire LOTS as 9.8/9.9 is just ridiculous. That's OK, if the customer doesn't like the quality he receives, Gary probably has 2,000 more to pick thru. He'll have more listed in the morning at a premium price.
  8. An unmentioned cover appearance by two possible movie comrades. Of which 3 out of 5 are currently on the bay. http://www.ebay.com/sch/items/?_nkw=cgc+X-Force+47&_sacat=&_ex_kw=&_mPrRngCbx=1&_udlo=&_udhi=&_sop=1&_fpos=&_fspt=1&_sadis=&LH_CAds=&rmvSB=true
  9. I'm waiting for Infinity War 1 pop. Its the name of the MOVIE for crying out loud!! at least get to $25, come on. are you the person i sold like 30 copies to here for less than $1 each? i have no idea what i was thinking. infinity gauntlet had already started to pick up, but IW 1 was still worthless, so I just unloaded like an insufficiently_thoughtful_person * Ahem * , and you were not the only one...
  10. Unless you are shipping Priority, it's illegal to use their material. With the amount I've misused and repurposed over the last 20 years, I should probably be on death row. I've chopped up used priority boxes to use as support, I figured it was okay since the box couldn't be used for mailing again. Just trying to keep green We've dropped the description " green ", now we go with " repurposed ", (thumbs u
  11. The new ownership of Valiant brought Jim Shooter in as Editor-In-Chief in 2008 to be the architect of the return to publishing. Valiant did not announce his hiring because it was going to be a major announcement when the books were ready to be ordered. Valiant also believed they were close to obtaining the rights to create new stories for Magnus, Solar, and Turok... but they had relaunch plans for "with" and "without" the Gold Key characters. Before any of that happened, Jim Shooter left the Valiant offices and set up shop at Dark Horse with Magnus, Solar, and Turok. Valiant sued Jim Shooter for breach of contract, but it was only an implied contract because Jim Shooter had been accepting payments for months. In the end, Valiant dropped the lawsuit and Dark Horse eventually dropped the Gold Key (or "Dark Key") comic lines that Shooter created. It's unlikely that Jim Shooter would speak highly of Valiant... but a nine-figure investment and a release date for a movie are both more than the original Valiant ever saw... with or without Jim Shooter. I'd hold out hope that he might say something like, "I'm happy for those guys... they did it their way and they appear to be doing well", but I wouldn't be surprised if he said something else entirely... possibly requiring censoring. Throw a dollar at him, the man has fecht up more of his own deals than anyone else in the history of comics. If he had kept his mouth shut and smiled instead of thumping his own chest, he could be living in the big mansion.
  12. My updated list on this page, if your user id is there, send me a PM. http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=8466920#Post8466920
  13. Next you guys will be taping together cereal boxes. Tape takes money out of the comic budget Exactly my thought, and it would be far more fiscally responsible to use cereal boxes as backing boards.
  14. Next you guys will be taping together cereal boxes. Some of us don't live in mom's basement and have boundless resources.
  15. ebay user id ~ theuncannyxmen and some X-force # 19's in that box also 'Twas only a joke, good sir! -slym I know, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to plug my auctions.

  17. I have one diaper box and one laundry detergent box that both seem to work perfectly as well. I hear tomato boxes work well, and some of the better stuff gets stored in them. -slym Some of my " working boxes " . HD cardboard, absolutely great for light lifting for my bad back, and they have handle holes on each end. I must have 500 of these in the warehouse. Flip them inside out, add hot glue gun, and I've been leaving the factory folds for a top instead of making a box lid.
  18. http://www.aceshowbiz.com/news/view/00081316.html And how much would the rights to that license cost ? $ 27.50 ??
  19. Those just missed the cut for a "one page" printout. (thumbs u I believe there are Armorines in X-O #19. Soooo, we're hoping XO #19 is the ace in the hole ? Because that's the serial number contest issue, that's probably the issue with the highest print run, except for the 0 issue. Like I don't have about 50 toilet bound issues of this one.

  21. It was quite speedy when the forum first started. Before all of you showed up.
  22. My third extortionist this year. I have reported this one to ebay. And for a $5.99 clearance lot. Honest. buyer is sa_nola , wants money back on non mint books that aren't mint. Well duh...... I edit to say he wants $ 3 back. What is up with these people. http://www.ebay.com/itm/251679735491?ssPageName=STRK:MESDIX:IT
