  2. Inherited a HP7600 series a few weeks ago. Now I have almost as many computer systems as gray hairs.
  3. Here's hoping. I have a few longboxes that have been here too long..
  4. If memory serves you skipped a lot of school your senior year.
  5. what does it mean when he says "I'm going to High Hat you"? Should I bring pepper spray at the next con? No, just bring stilts, so he can't reach over your head;) I always see pictures of him sleeping. How could he reach above his head ?

  7. A new thought, and perhaps it's been used, BUT- has anyone tried to sell using the story board available on Photobucket ? I usually have my own server working, but that died, and I've never really tried using another image host. Some nifty things there if you have the time to play with it. As an example, would this storyboard be a good offering ?
  8. Yes. I doubt if any public announcement will come for a while. You never know how these rumor things work, but it is a cool issue, and a rarely used character. First appearances are always good to have in bulk in high grade.
  9. Legion of Superheroes # 33 ? Any rumors on that quiet issue ?
  10. And I don't believe that they are going to be either. It is essentially a speculators dream book (except for the print run). Already sells well, great cover by a known artist, name brand book, 1st appearances, a good story and movie spec. Esentially, it is the type of book that anti-speculator snobs ridicule when seeing people buy multiple copies of. It's awesome You need to look around. You look like you are in the Phoenix area. Several comic stores in Phoenix are selling 1st prints of these for 50% cheaper than he is buying them for. I get he wants to speculate on them, but to pay $15 for a book that sells for $10 or less routinely (and yes, in NM or better condition) seems kinda I thought the idea behind speculating was to buy low and sell high. Not to buy for more than market to hoard. So paying $15 on eBay is crazy but paying $5 less is acceptable? Is that a rule for everyone, or only for those who can find copies in town? Would driving 50 miles to another store to save $5 be crazy, too? I went to all of the local shops and bought what I could find, which wasn't much. Keep in mind my LCS is Mile High Comics. If you think buying the book for $15 is crazy, try buying from MHC. I'm not a speculator in the sense most of you are. This is the first book in years that I bought more than one copy. I get to a comic shop maybe once a month, and typically with my son to find comics to read not to make money on. I'm sure I'm doing it all wrong by some people's standards, but it's been fun "hoarding" this book and trying to find others in the series. Just keep in mind that if it weren't for people like me spending that extra $5, all that speculation you boys are doing wouldn't be fruitful. Thank you Reno !!

  12. in your opinion when does the copper age begin and end Copper begins shortly after the Bronze Age ends, and the Psuedo-Nickel age begins. I kinda see Silver ending in the late 60's, Bronze ending in the early 80's, the Copper ending in the early 90's, and to top it off, the Psuedo-Nickel age ended about shortly after the turn of the century when the movie and tv folks began to pay attention to comics. After that, I'm not so OCD to argue about specific dates, issue numbers, color codes, what shop was open, who the distributor was, types of paper, size of the issue, how his Lordship Bob Overstreet passes gas, etc etc. It's a general feel to things to me. Love to watch folks argue over the 15 cent issues. Are they Silver or Bronze ? I personally don't care.
  13. I think he's just trying to get a "Reaction" out of people. What a Wow even yiddish slang gets the "spoon" censor, haha. Starts with a P, end with a z A little worse than yutz ?

  17. There are plenty of copies sitting in LCS back stock as well. As I have posted in other discussions, I have seen close to a long box accumulated from a 10,000 book buy of one LCS chain's overstock (the buyer was the owner of another LCS and the NM 98s, Omega Men 3s, Wolverine (late 80s regular) 1s and 10s saved him as the overstock was mostly junk ). In addition, a small LCS owner pulled out a case of NM 98s a couple of years or three ago and has been slowly leaking them out (last copy went this spring). As the small LCS owner explained to me, back then it cost 50 cents or less per copy so most of the stores in town were speculating with an extra case or more since a lot of hot Marvels were easy $2-$5 sales immediately. The only issue is that there are plenty of misses along with the hits, and storing them long term can be an issue (cost vs. ROI issue). My guess is that there are plenty of other stores with stacks of uncirculated copies sitting in storage that have not seen the light of day yet. Wonderman Annual # 1 Turrrd in the punch bowl.

  19. Yes, but it gives a ballpark idea of the max number of copies that will be available. No, it doesn't, in any meaningful way. If a distribution ratio is 1:100, they could print 500 of them, and 250,000 of the "regular" version. The distribution ratio has absolutely nothing to do with the print runs of either. Unless you're suggesting that, in addition to distributing them in the ratio based on retailer order, Marvel is also making some large quantity available to the public through some alternate means, then yes, it does indeed give a ballpark of the max number of copies available. It could end up being half that number, but we're establishing a ceiling for available copies. Marvel is under no obligation legally or morally to print them at a 1:100 ratio. It is simply the incentive for the retailer: If you order 100 copies, you can order THIS book at the same price as a regular copy. At what point did Diamond start billing dealers for incentive copies ? Back in the stone ages, if we ordered X, then the distributor would put an incentive copy or two in with the regular preorder. Now the dealer actually has to pay for the "incentive " ? I'm going to assume the world has changed since then.
