  1. That annual (#4) was my first Marvel comic. Lieber also did Annual #5. I didn’t think he did a bad job on those two books.
  2. It's difficult for me to pin down what my most valuable book was. I had a very nice silver age collection as a kid, most of which mysteriously went missing not long after I "outgrew" funny books in 1972. The weird thing is that I didn't even notice they were gone for 20 years until I started collecting again in the early 90s. When I stopped collecting I stopped caring about comics and moved on to other interests. My mom never threw my stuff out so I don't know what to think. The only books that survived were my Detective Comics collection, including Batgirl's first appearance in #359. I didn't have any of the early Marvel first appearances but some of the books I know I had are Avengers #2 and a beat up copy of #4 along with almost every other issue up to #106. I had the key FFs from 45-53 and a lot of lower numbers. I had the Canadian version of Spidey Annual #1 and most of the issues between 20 and 81. I had close to a hundred issues of Journey Into Mystery/Thor up to #206. I bought all of the premier issues in the 1968 Marvel explosion off the racks; Iron Man, Subby, Hulk, Cap, Captain Marvel, a complete run of Surfer 1-18, etc. I also had a bunch of mid to late 60s DCs, including Poison Ivy's first appearance in Bats 181, but there aren't many other big money DCs from those years.
  3. Goblin and Ock are 1 and 1a in either order.
  4. I just saw a double cover FF 56 with a F outer and VF inner. The asking price was 150. I don’t collect double covers but I’m intrigued. Any thoughts on that price?
  5. I just liked a 17 year old post. Good looking mid grade silver age books are right up my alley!
  6. Definitely one of the top three Romita covers along with ASM 50 and SSM magazine 2.
  7. I have a 6.5 c/ow copy of #6 that I would consider trading for an equal raw copy if you happen across one.
  8. Traded with Ricksneatstuff for this seemingly under-graded beauty.
  9. I hope you are taking advantage of the great reprint options for the early expensive issues that you aren’t able to purchase. Long before I had the original issues I had every story in some form or other.
  10. Just completed a one for one trade with Rick. This was my second transaction with him and both were as good as it gets. I can’t recommend Rick highly enough.
  11. It's a tough choice but as a collector, not an investor, I would go for the lower number issue. A 9.8 #33 is quite a find but there's a certain magic in single digit Spideys, especially high grade copies. Also, don't disregard #9's great blue cover. It's a real eye catcher.
  12. The first FF I bought off the rack back in August of '67.
  13. It is beautiful but I traded it away for another book that I have wanted for a long time. My raw FN- under copy will have to do me for a while.
  14. That’s a ridiculously nice looking 3.5, Joe. Well done!
