Hulk just needs one of those Gambit/Shatterstar masks to go with that 90's haircut and then it would really be rockin'.

For some odd reason, I will always put the start of the Copper Age at the point when Marvel put the Spidey head in the upc box and the Modern Age at the point when Marvel ceased to put pictures in the upc box and instead went with the barcode / "direct edition" format.

There is an issue of Avengers, I think, that reprints the Amazing Adventures 12 where Beast "Killed" Ironman.  I can't recall the number though.

As far as the fluctuation, I've seen it go a couple hundred +/- but nothing like the past few months. It's almost doubled.

On a lot of the ones I've seen, the front half of the book and the back half of the book don't align right when folded.

I participated in this one in the early 90's.  I was 13 at the time and I remember my dad having to search all around a pretty large city to even find a place that sold the candy.  After finally finding the candy, I sent in the wrappers and there was no telling how long I actually had to wait before the comic came in the mail.  It was so long that by the time time it finally arrived, I was well into puberty and out of comic collecting by the time I got it.  I still have it though!

BA12 and NYX3 I think are up there (similar to TMNT1) because of lower print runs than the others. BA12 having been a comic marketed towards kids with what I assume is a lower print run / less hoarded over by speculators, and NYX3 also being a book that few people were really reading or pulling, and also would have a lower print run than ASM or NM.

I would put X-Men 266 before ASM 361.  When you type in "X-Men" on ebay, it is the third option that comes up after 1 and 101.  It is even before 12 and 94.  I don't really know why, but collectors (including myself) just have a certain fascination with this book.

I always look through mine when doing a very specific activity, so I'll definitely be needing the print version.

To illustrate how quickly this book has risen, I remember this time last year how people were remarking that HOS 92 was going for about the same price as 181.  That doesn't seem to be the case anymore, as just last night a cgc HOS 92 ended at around $950 on ebay, and cgc 6.0 92 for slightly over $1000 about a week ago.  It seems like forever ago that 181's were going for those prices.  

He is my all time favorite artist and half responsible for the greatest run in comics history.  He was a master at conveying different expressions on the faces of the people he drew.  I always thought his work had a ton of depth to it.

I don't know how great for the buyer their strict grading actually is though.  I always manage to find a better deal elsewhere.

Here we have an X-Men 266 assigned a 9.0 that is not a consignment as far as I can tell.  They want $265.00.  Naturally, the book is still available.

I would be a whole lot more impressed with their strict grading if the pricing on the books actually reflected the grade they were giving it.  If you take an 8.0, grade it as a 6.5, but then price it as an 8.0, then that 6.5 grade you are assigning is totally an empty gesture.  That is just my opinion though.

That is one of the funny things I notice about many ebay sellers.

Lets say you have a SA book that is actually a 7.0 with a FMV of 100.00.   One seller might grade it as a 5.5, and another might grade it as an 8.5.  But, in each case they price it at 100.00.  It's like they both know what the book is actually worth,  but they each have their own little reason for putting a bogus grade on the book.

In the case of MCS, I guess they want the rep of being "strict graders."  But, if your going to attach a 7.0 price to a book that you give a 5.5, then your "strict grading" is totally meaningless as the grade you assign it has no bearing on the price of your item.  It's just a gimmick on their part.

You could add to the end of the listing "not INFINITY WAR".

The 6.0 column is really what my budget allows, so that is what I focus on.  All of these go for way higher than what was listed in the 47th edition:

It has ASM 13 at $423.00,  (101, 194, and 300 are way off as well).

It has X-Men 12 6.0 at $162.00 ?!?  I'd take that in a heart beat!  #14 isn't no $93.00 either. (They should increase the 266 as well.)

You can mix comics and beer and be OK.  What you can't mix is comics and beer + tape.  I learned that the hard way last summer.  You can see the tape pull next to the spidey avatar around the webbing.

The great action movies of the 80's and early 90's are gone forever imo.  I could probably name 20 possible leads from that era that I think might have worked in a true sequel to the first predator.  Nowadays you have Vin Deisel, The Rock, and Jason Mamoa, and that is really it.  There just isn't enough masculinity left in Hollywood to make these types of movies anymore.

The is a really nice CGC 6.5 JIM 89 for $429.00 .  I wold be all over that if I wasn't going on vacation so soon.

I have a theory that what also hurt Adams was that he was really into lame subject matter.  McFarlane was associated with Spiderman and Spawn, Lee was associated with Punisher and X-Men, and Liefield was attached to Cable, who was very hip at the time.

While Longshot and Spiral were kind of cool, I think it is damaging that seemingly 50% of Adam's output in his absolute prime is associated with X-Babies and Mojo.  I mean, you had X-Men annual 10,12, Excalibur annual 2.  The art was fantastic on those, but enough is enough on the freaking X-Babies.  Also, it don't get much more lame than Monkeyman and Obrien.  I love Adams as much as anyone and even I can't get excited about those characters.  Had he had just been associated with better subject matter, his trajectory might have been different.  

Also, X-Factor 41,42 and that Action Comics annual are very cheap and awesome to look at too.

Due to the fact that I would be unable to offer returns for the extended period of time that it would take to tell if there was restoration, and also due to the fact that I cannot 100% guarantee that there was not any restoration done, I am pulling this book from the forum in order to get it graded by CGC.  I will make sure to post the results when it comes back.  

I apologize for wasting anyone's time who PM'd me. This was my first time trying to sell on this forum and I didn't consider all the possible ramifications of selling a book that possibly was in fact restored.  I'll make sure to think of these things in advance in the future.

Interestingly, here are the prices from the 2005 Overstreet I found laying around the house.  This was 14 years after the fact and #98 was not even distinguished from the rest of the run.  Overall, 87 has been more expensive than 98 for around 66% of the time that the books have been in existence.  It seems like forever that 98 has been so key, but it has been only a little over 10 years I guess.
