Nice books everyone.
Here's my latest purchase!
-
Great books everyone. Maybe next week, I can make a contribution to this thread.
-
I sold my Barks books about 3 months before they started to skyrocket in price.Would this be the first Barks book, or just the first FC barks book?I always understood that it was Bark's first Duck work in comics, though he apparently contributed to some animated Disney shorts before that.

I have only made it to the 3rd page of this thread. My computer is so slow.
I used to have a substantial FC collection. I stated in another thread a while back,
that it consisted of over 200 books. I just went back to my records, and it was actually nearly 400 books.
Nothing was less than VG and I had several NM or better copies. I wish I could have
held on to them. One thing, that I enjoyed most about FC comics, was the wide variety of characters. I wish I still had scans of some of my better copies, but they are
all gone but one, which isn't a very good scan. I'm sorry if this one has already been posted.

Very Nice! Where did you find it?Recent arrival: -
One of my books came back ungraded because of a slight overhang. It was a nice book, which I sold. I think it was Action #73
-
That's very nice! Are you going to get it slabbed?
-
Archie #1 for me!
-
If really choosing I would take the more valuable, but I like the 108 cover much better.
-
I second that!very tough choice Brian, ...that Cap #3 is a very cool clasic cover.,.. but at 7.0, I feel it would be easier to get another copy close to that grade, as where the Action #58 at 9.4,.. would be alot harder to top.. plus it will look great along with my other Actions...I'll take the Action #58.
-
I may be the only one, but I'm going to choose the Batman #23 because the cover is very appealing to me, and it's high grade. This should be an interesting match up.....(my last 2 were both blow outs ). Both of these books sold for approx. $12,600. Which one would you choose, and why?..................or
For me.....Fantastic 3 all the way. It is a TOUGH book to find in any condition, much less F-, and is one of the top GA Classic Covers out there.....one of the best works by Lou Fine! We have alot of Batman fans that post here, so it should be interesting to see if anyone else joins me on the Classic Cover / scarce bandwagon.
-
That's what I was thinking, but didn't dare to say.I think 108 is one of (or is) the best Action Supeman covers. Though 82 rocks (I own that one). -
If the Marvel did not have glue on the spine, I would choose that book. The shade of blue doesn't bother me, because it commonly varies in this issue. Because of the glue, I'll take the Batman #1..... let's have a battle of two $100,000 Mega-keys! Both of these books sold in 2006 for approx. $100k. ( give or take a few $thousand )The Marvel is a November issue with graders notes of "small amount of glue on spine". Which one would you choose, and why?
.......................or
for me, a big no brainer ( although I don't think all will agree with me ). If I have 1/10th of 1 million dollars on the line, I am not going to choose a 2nd printing of an improperly blue labeled slightly restored book that should be sporting a purple label.....I choose the Batman 1 in 1/2 of 1 second!
-
Um, I thought for sure it would be a FC #178 I think I have used a #282 for packaging material. I am not fond at all of restored books, but, I'll take the Tec. #38Here's a competition you don't see every day.....restored key Tec vs. highest graded unrestored Duck ! Both of these books sold for approx. $5,300. The Four Color Duck is the highest graded copy, and has an Overstreet Guide price of $675 in NM- / it sold for 7.8 times Guide. Which one would you choose, and why?....................or
possibly to the suprise of some of you, I consider this non-key Duck sale to be a fluke, and would choose the restored Tec 38...a rare choice for me as a non-PLOD collector, and a huge Four Color Duck fan.

I would like to comment on these two books once more. Looking at them in person side by side, the vibrant colors in the #108 seem to blow the #82 out of the water. Tomorrow, They will both be packaged along with others for my trip to Florida. I shall take that last opportunity to flip through them and admire the covers one last time in the raw.kinda shocked most are going with #82, I thought the 108 was more revered as a classic. Its tough, but i would take the 108, I thinks its such a "hot" cover..OOPS - I didn;t see the next page, its more even now...
It's definitely tilting towards the 108..
In a small pic the Action 108 looks cooler. When comparing the actual comics side by side I think the 82 is better.

I'm going to go with the #108
I guess It would not be a good choice $ wise
I'm thankful I own them both so I don't have to decide.
-
These books are not as expensive as most posted here, but they are two of my favorites.
The #82 has a higher BV than the #108 Which one would you choose?

Very Nice!
I just got this one today. The front cover has great eye appeal. The lower grade is reflected by some kind of stain on the back cover near the spine. It's strange, because it just affects the white part, and not the red. Could it be an ink stain from printing? I may have to call for grader notes.

I envy you! After all of this, I feel I should get something very special from the you know who!
That's not the half of it. We spend Christmas at the MIL's house, and I find out she's driving up to disney and spend all three nights with us in the condo. Here's my Christmas present from my wife. I opened it early, so I could package it with some other raw comics that I plan to drop off at CGC while I'm in Florida for Christmas. It's been 3 years since I have had a vacation. I will spend christmas at my mother-in-laws, then 1 night in Sarasota, and followed by 3 nights at disney.Very nice, cd! I used to own a copy of that book because I thought it was a rather classy cover.
You're the first person I've mention the words "vacation" and "at my mother-in-law's" in the same sentence.
Mike
At least I'm limiting the in law time and we're going to be having family time for at least 2 of the 3 weeks.
