Marvel passed on this variant cover for DP #1 that came out in conjunction with the 2nd movie. The religious overtones made Marvel stay away and pass. Only the pencil and ink black & white final version is for sale. The other images I do not have and are posted to show the process of making the final cover that was submitted to Marvel. Dopinder got the girl and the ex bf is getting stomped. DP is happily eating a burger which is considered holy I believe. Hence it didnt pass Marvel muster. Awesome piece for any fan of Putri, DP or controversial art. Shipped fast, free and secure. Regards, JC

How do sellers feel about selling at HA?
dirtymartini1 replied to Panelfan1's topic in Original Comic Art
I sold some comics and art w Heritage. It took 4 months total for items to be listed, sold and finally paid out. I got about 50% of what I conservatively thought I would get. For that I could of went to Snyder and got 60% of the total in cash (knowing him prob check) but either way paid the same day. Now with sales tax and HA still substantially wetting their beak on both sides, there is no meat left on the bone. -

I sold a $1000 hand bag to a person in Guam. I used to live on the Ebay edge! -

You may paint with a broad brush, but remember the craft of your strokes must outweigh the nostalgia of the bristles. Who knows, one day maybe blue line copy will be the bees knees! -

COMICLINK Fall Featured Auction
dirtymartini1 replied to jjonahjameson11's topic in Original Comic Art
This season, they finally gave Karen & Foggy purpose instead of whining to Matt in every seen to stop being DD. Overall it was solid. Still the best show of the bunch. Then Punisher. The rest of the shows stink, especially emo drenched season 2 of Jessica Jones. But thats what happens when you hire a show runner with an agenda of her own. -

And soon the Invisibles -
Anyone have any cool pieces of non comic book art from established comic book artists? I was lucky enough to stumble upon this great piece from Nick Cardy. He did it while serving in WW2. I bought his book: Nick Cardy: An Artist at War to check it out and to my pleasant surprise, the piece I picked up was in the book. Peasants harvesting horse meat. A gruesome reality of the time captured by one of the talents of the era.

Jr Rookie mistake! Everyone knows whatever piece you want of theirs, you don't ask for the actual page. You pick a random page of the same character/artist. Steve will email you everything of that genre marked up 3x but at least the page you really want wont be marked up 5x. #themoreyouknow -
hold a black light up to the pieces you win and you will know real fast.

We have a new champ! Someone is smoking better hashish than Jim Lee and his rep @ $15k for a commission. JSC for the win. Hey at least its published! If anyone wants some pseudo manga art, step right up with your saw bucks. BYOK Bring your own kaopectate. This one is a bargain folks. Dont worry if you miss out on 1, he only did like 10 different variant covers. https://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1504685

A ton of Sal B work is signed like this as well. Not as blatant crossing over art lines but there are plenty of examples of his big signatures going across an arm or panel page. I always cringe and stare sadly even though I dont own them.

What is the best auction venue for comic book art?
dirtymartini1 replied to M-F0uRce99's topic in Original Comic Art
Give them to Hakes so they sell way under full market value and we can snag some great deals! Ha. HA is best in breed but you have to factor in the 19.5% vig they hit people with. If you have good stuff they will waive the 10% sellers fee. I do not care for ComicConnect extended bidding. If people get jammed up on prior pieces getting extensions, and your piece comes up maybe it doesnt get full attention. CL main events bring good money but if your art gets relegated to one of their monthly auctions, kiss strong money returns goodbye. Don't forget the market place on here. Always better to deal with a fellow collector 1 on 1. Good luck! -
