  1. Heading down at five am tomorrow, through the "atmospheric river." Looking forward to seeing everyone! The HOC booth is 311.
  2. I'd rather have any of the above, detached, reattached, even tape, than water damage or severe rust. As for the specific order, probably nothing added first choice, non-archival tape last choice.
  3. Also want to reiterate how awesome the conversations are. Tim and I really love that. On Saturday Bitteroldman and Pov and Jpex had an epic conversation, joined by Spiderman Beyond at one point. We had 707Comics running into Yorick at Ray's table looking at golden age book after golden age book and striking up a fast connection (good to meet you Yorick!), it's just great. Sometimes people are talking for over an hour. I was able to meet someone I'd heard about for years and I had finally talked to him Thursday night about the show and we chatted on the phone for 90 minutes! Sometimes Nexus and JBud come and talk to Wormboy for an hour or two about original art. It's that kind of thing. Also a great chance to talk to very experienced dealers. For instance a fairly new, but serious collector, emailed me last night saying he was able to get some good tips and philosophy from Harley about dealing with CGC for the first time. (the collector had found it a bit dispiriting to get his first grades back, lower than he expected). Not uncommon to have vendors with 30 years experience.
  4. I fully curate the dealer list. It's partly a combo of waiting list and a few tables in reserve, but at this point it's mostly rotating people back in for the rest of this year. There is an art to it. Some preference for people who constantly have new stock or have a store and can promote the show or who have been very loyal from the start. Only 4 of the 12 vendors this time were holdovers from November and we rotated two back in who had done June or August. So 6 of 12 were new to the Berkeley Comic Con. One of whom had been waiting a year and three of the five national dealers had actually expressed interest in doing the November show but it was already "booked" at that point so I had to create space for them in Jan. by rotating out others.
  5. Anyone who flies in, I can do bonus warehouse appointments on May 4 or 6.
  6. Next two dates, May 5 and August 4. << It's a fantastic show and as time goes on, you can certainly see it growing even more. Weekend warriors, guys selling their own collections etc. They hype can continue to build with this show and there's a lot of books in CA.>> We had to rotate out some of those guys due to all the national dealers this time, but some of them will return in May. Phil and Alan are also signed up!
  7. I'll post more later today. Great job Tim! Brain--we really appreciate it. Harvey--you are the best con partner and so nice of you and Lili to set up the racks, with me on two hours of sleep. Bunky--thanks for the nice words. Great to see your mighty "wedge" display. Glad we figured out a way to wedge it in. Also want to give a special thanks to Harley for flying in and doing the show. The first show I ever set up at, Grand Rapids, in 1985, by chance Harley was placed next to me and we struck up a friendship. I was in high school and he was in college, just starting to do shows. 33 years later and here we are, with him set up across from me. Bookends on my con career. Foolkiller flew the furthest--you rock Brian! Want to thank Shortboxed for his efforts to unite the Bay Area collecting community and for spending some serious $$ in the room and a special shout out to MusterMark, a great boardie, for not only flying up for LA but then spending time looking through boxes at my warehouse afterwards. More later--esp. on the golden age guys and the knowledge in the room.
  8. I have a couple Lornas but only one Jumbo right now I think. Put me down for a resto cheat sheet! The secret parking lot is on Bonita and you have to turn off of University. Ie, it's just two blocks away but you can't enter from Berkeley Way. Has to be University. This is never full except on Cal football days.
  9. No--set up is difficult and the place is crowded with racks on the ground, etc.. 11 am firm.
  10. I've invited Jeff Rader and Steve Mortensen, but not sure they are attending.
  11. Want to mention again two little things that help set our show apart. We have the wantlist feature on the website so obscure stuff you want can be pulled from shops and warehouses and brought, even if it's not normally in the "show stock" rotation. And we have our own PovRow who will be happy to answer all sorts of restoration questions! Fantastic resource.
  12. Add to the list, Black Cat Comics in Milpitas and Heroes Comics in Campbell. Plus A-1 Comics Sacramento and The Batcave in Santa Rosa. Thanks guys! What's cool is a huge pct. of the store owners are either attending or setting up or have set up in the past.
  13. I got an update from Phil of Champion Comics and he's bringing very impressive stuff. He'll be on the west wall next to Heroes. 14. Forecast looking good considering it's January in Northern California. Dry and mostly sunny.
  15. And how impressive is this? Damn! http://bunkybrothers.com/constock/
  16. Heroes is bringing four new boxes of GA! Plus folios of original art, which will be a first for our con. A-1 Comics has three X-Men1s, and a $7 k ASM 1.
  17. Hoping that some of the board member dealers will pipe in with what they are bringing on the 20th! I've just added slabbed OW/W TOD 10 7.0, GL 7 5.5, Brave and the Bold 60 6.5, plus a deslabbed 9.0 ASM 121. I'll try to get more golden age organized.
